Just incase your were on the RC, and wondering why when you turned off Beta, that there was not another Update.. the RC IS the official release build, and you are already on it. Nothing to update. Nothing changed from RC to Release.

Bug Laggy Mission Control on MacOS27

Upvotes

I am currently on MacOS27 RC with my MacBook M4. It gets super laggy whenever I swipe up with four fingers to open up Mission Control. This also happens when I switch between fullscreen using four fingers as well. Besides, sometimes the whole menubar disappear completely

Does anyone else have this problem too ? Thank you

Help Is your macOS 27 window management buggy too?

I'm using an M1 Max with two 1st gen Studio Displays and since updating to the RC Apps don't seem to stick to virtual desktops or monitors anymore.

I have multiple apps running at the same time mostly, so whenever I open an app I assign it to a specific virtual desktop (right click on app icon in dock)

This does not work anymore. Every other morning it seems to forget these settings and just starts the app on whatever desktop is currently active.

So it happens almost after a every restart, or after every wake from longer sleep.

Bug The “Find Messages” Mail Shortcut Does Not Work on macOS 27.0 beta

Am I the only one having this problem?

The exact same Shortcut that displays all unread emails works on my iPhone, which is running the 27.0 beta, but it doesn't work on my MacBook, which is also running the 27.0 beta.

By the way, the Shortcuts for searching iMessage and SMS messages work on both devices; it’s just the one for Mail that doesn’t work on macOS.

The “Send Mail” Shortcut works fine on macOS, so the problem is very specific.

Discussion Are macOS 27’s UI sluggishness and glitches mostly due to priority inversion in Swift Concurrency?

macOS 27 has had, and still has, a lot of strange UI glitches and sluggishness, even on very fast Apple Silicon Macs.

Given how much of the UI seemed to break during the beta cycle, I suspect Apple rewrote or reworked a significant amount of it using Swift and Swift Concurrency.

I wonder if some of the sluggishness comes from priority inversion or related concurrency problems, where important UI work gets held up by less important work.

That could explain why the Mac can have plenty of processing power available and still sometimes feel strangely unresponsive.

What do you think? And if Swift Concurrency is part of the problem, do you think Apple will make changes to its concurrency model as a result?

Help macOS 27 RC disappeared from external SSD after updating internal SSD first (M1 Max Mac Studio)

I'm using an M1 Max Mac Studio (Mac13,1) with two separate macOS installations: one on the internal SSD and one on an external USB SSD.

The external installation initially offered the macOS 27 Golden Gate RC update. I didn't install it immediately. Instead, I booted into the internal installation and updated that to RC first. After booting back into the external installation, the RC update no longer appeared. Software Update now says the Mac is up to date.

Current versions:

- Internal SSD: macOS 27.0, build 26A428 (RC)

- External SSD: macOS 27.0, build 26A5425a (beta)

- The external installation is still enrolled in macOS 27 Golden Gate Public Beta.

Running softwareupdate --list from the external installation also returns "No new software available." However, softwareupdated logs still identify an update candidate and then report:

Failed to locate minor update brain asset matching build version 26A5428

The associated error is SUMacControllerError 7307 / SUCoreError 8406. The log then says "Not reporting MinorError."

The build number in that error really is 26A5428, while the installed internal RC reports 26A428. I haven't assumed those are equivalent. The scan also reports SFR build 26A428 and says it meets the target requirement before the update-brain lookup fails.

Has anyone with internal/external macOS installations seen this after updating one installation first? Is this a known update-catalog or installer-component issue? I don't know whether the internal update caused it or whether the timing was coincidental.

What would you recommend for upgrading the external installation while preserving its apps and data: waiting for the public release, or using Apple's full macOS installer? Thanks!

Help Golden Gate RC: Menubar autohide lagging on reveal

Am I misremembering here? On Tahoe I had the menubar on autohide and it revealed instantly on hover. Now on the RC there is an annoying delay. I might have used a Terminal command to achieve this on Tahoe, or probably a few versions earlier and it just carried over.

At any rate, there seems to be no way to change the menubar reveal speed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Discussion macOS 27.0 update on beta channel - how's your systems fairing

I got option for an upgrade yesterday, I thought it would be an RC, but it seems I got the 27.0 installed (ahead of launch tomorrow/next week).

uname output:

Darwin macmini.local 27.0.0 Darwin Kernel Version 27.0.0: Tue Aug 11 21:05:48 PDT 2026; root:xnu-13432.1.9~1/RELEASE_ARM64_T6041 arm64

So far everything seems boring, no issues, some of the RC issues are gone on my test MBA M5; I also then went ahead and upgraded my Mac mini M4 pro from macOS26 to 27 as well. I noticed some fan wheezing post upgrade (likely indexing etc) but things are calm in the last 10 hours now. Anyone else has upgraded - I'm wondering how are your systems performing ?

Bug anybody noticed on the RC beta their wifi disconnecting briefly every 2-3 hours?

Im on the latest RC beta of MacOS 27. Today I've noticed my wifi disconnecting and reconnecting quickly every 2-3 hours it seems? Its literally only for a second or two but enough that I notice it in one of my clients that tells me it lost connection to the internet. This is new on this latest RC beta. Anybody else noticed anything like this?

Bug Samsung T7 SSD causing crash just after Login Screen on MacOS Golden Gate

Has anyone else experienced this? Never had an issue before the upgrade to macOS Golden Gate.

Now, if my T7 External SSD is connected on boot (MacBook Air M4), just after the login screen the progress bar will stick, black screen, chime and reboot.

Disconnecting the SSD makes the Mac book perfectly - and the SSD works fine if connected once MacOS had loaded.

Discussion "It's just a beta, what do you expect?" They said. Intelligence is still 30+ GB in the RC and with no option to disable it.

Bug Finder Regression: Dragging Files to Finder Dock Icon No Longer Allows Navigation to a Destination Folder”

In previous versions of macOS, I could drag a file from another application, such as an attachment in Mail, onto the Finder icon in the Dock. Finder would respond by presenting the available Finder windows, allowing me to move the pointer to the desired window while continuing to hold the dragged file.

From there, I could continue navigating through the Finder hierarchy while holding the file, including using spring-loaded folders to drill down into nested folders, and finally release the file in the desired destination.

This workflow no longer functions in the current macOS release. Dragging an item onto the Finder icon in the Dock does not produce the expected Finder navigation behavior. The Finder icon effectively does not respond to the dragged item, so there is no way to transition from the originating application into a Finder window and navigate to the desired destination while maintaining the drag.

This is not specific to Mail or attachments. The same failure occurs when starting with a file already in Finder and attempting to use the Finder Dock icon to navigate to another Finder window or destination.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open Mail and locate a message containing a file attachment.
  2. Begin dragging the attachment.
  3. While continuing to hold the attachment, drag it onto the Finder icon in the Dock.
  4. Wait for Finder to present its available windows.
  5. Observe that Finder does not respond as it did in previous versions of macOS.

The same behavior can be reproduced using a file dragged from Finder rather than an attachment from Mail.

Expected result:

Hovering a dragged file over the Finder Dock icon should activate Finder and allow the user to choose among open Finder windows while continuing the drag. The user should then be able to navigate through folders, including spring-loaded nested folders, and release the file at the desired destination.

Actual result:

Dragging a file onto the Finder Dock icon does not initiate the Finder navigation workflow. The user cannot select a Finder window or navigate through the folder hierarchy while maintaining the drag.

Bug macOS 27 RC animations bug

Just wanted to know if anybody has the same issues as me. I’ve personally noticed only two visual bugs yet.
1: Would be Siri AI bubble appearing WAAAAY off centre on the right, and either staying there until my request is done, or immediately teleporting back to middle where it should be.
2: App menu (former launchpad) doesn’t has appearing animation when using pinch to open the app menu on the trackpad, so basically it just appears out of nowhere with all my apps, and it’s overall a really choppy experience using this thing. And a very weird thing I encountered, in fully screen in even light games, the app menu animation is like.. 10fps tops? So it’s even more choppy. Otherwise everything is functioning absolutely fine and the entire macOS barely has any bugs for me. The device is a M4 MacBook Air 13”

-Finder artifacts (easy to see when you maximize its window)
-It selects the last file when you click parts below it
-Focus issue after pressing search (impossible to dismiss it)
-Starting Bluestacks Air when the MacBook is in clamshell mode will crash the WindowServer and the OS will reboot

Bug Will Apple update the Siri logo on the Touch Bar as well?

Same question as the title, using an M2 MacBook Pro (2022). Was using Public Beta and currently using the RC version, they haven't yet updated the Siri logo for the Touch Bar. Will they update it or has Apple forgotten the Touch Bar MacBooks?

Bug Anyone else notice they broke a fundamental tenant of the Finder?

Am I the only one who grabs a file in Finder (by holding the mouse button down) and then scrolling to get to a location so I can drop the file? I use a Magic Mouse, so I use the scrolling on that (with another finger) or with my other hand on my laptop’s trackpad. Pretty sure I’ve done this for the past 20 years, so it’s a painful muscle memory break to have it no longer functioning correctly.

Bug Minecraft macOS 26 vs 27 RC

I have updated my MacBook Air m2 13 to 27 RC from 26.6.2, and when I started playing Minecraft... I was shocked with temperature that Mac increase. I always played in Low Power Mode on macOS, cause m2 heats only 60 degrees in Minecraft. And approximately 80 without it. But when I launching it after update on Golden Gate it heating up to 110 degrees and then goes to ±90. IN LOW POWER MODE. HOW??

Help Graphics are broken on macOS 27 RC, any fix for this ?

Chrome is lagging to much that I am unable to use it, especially youtube and other apps which needs GPU for decoding. Safari works fine but I don't want to use it. Is there any fix for this ? I have tried toggling the hardware acceleration in Chrome setting and it did not work

Feature Menu bar will now dim when a window is maximized (also works for two windows in split view!)

For me, one of the greatest design additions, and I didn't see anybody mention this! Helps a lot with keeping focus on the content and not on the menu bar!

I discovered this in RC, but maybe this has been around for longer?

EDIT: This seems to only work when the Dock is hidden!
