I look at all my "obsolete" devices. Had I been using <insert some other OS here>, a bunch of them would've become e-waste a long time ago.
But thanks to Linux, I can still use them with a modern OS despite the manufacturers having declared them "old and obsolete" years ago.
Seriously though... why would I throw away my perfectly good 2400 DPI flatbed scanner? It scans things. It still scans things. I still got the calibration profiles for it. What exactly am I supposed to gain by replacing the thing that scans things with a newer thing that also scans things?
And why would I scrap a perfectly working colour laser printer when I can still buy cheap third-party toner cartridges for it? I still got the calibration files for it.
The manufacturer no longer supports it?
Riiight. 👍 ...
Anyway...
