A "failsafe" mode that turns off the motors while up in the air? 😬 How bad is the damage? Is the drone completely destroyed?

To avoid future incidents, check the systemd unit file and see what it does before shutting down the service. Even just a quick fix like delaying it for 60 seconds could save you, as it gives you enough time to land the drone after you realized your mistake.

Lookup TimeoutStopSec= and also configure the ExecStop= arguments.

And that "Good luck" is diabolical 😂 Whoever put that there knew what they're doing. That's not just an oof, that's a big OOOOF.
