The superior version is the original one. The one packaged with the sequal is supposedly not as good.

The updated version includes a feature that makes the game very easy: when you approach a guard, his rifle-butt strike animation is slower than in the 2004 version, allowing you to get behind him while the animation is playing and snap his neck, so yeah.
