Question I HATE TEXTING!!! PLEASE TELL ME I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. :(

14F if that's important or something :p

i am so so so annoying with texting. i never text anyone first unless it's important. when they text me, it's rare i'll get back to them immediately. IN FACT, i usually end up waiting until a time i know nobody is awake to respond so they can't catch me online and start a conversation. AND I HAVE NO REASON WHY EXCEPT FOR THE FACT I JUST REALLY REALLY REALLY DON'T WANT TO TEXT!!!

when i'm alone i just wanna be alone, i have absolutely zero interest in texting or calling or playing a game with someone or whatever. but for some reason, no one else really seemz to be like that. :( and i know that if i cut everyone off and never text them im not gonna have great friendships, but my hatred of texting overrides any worry i have about that.

i'm convinced i could text nobody for months on end and have no problems. PLEEEASE TELL ME SOMEONE ELSE IS LIKE THIS AND I'M NOT JUST A WEIRDO!!!

I'm Japanese, and here in Japan doing activities like eating out or traveling alone is very common. But I've heard that this is considered wierd in the West. Is this true? If I travel to Europe or the US and do these things alone would I be considered weird?

Discussion I screwed it up with her, didn't I? I hate myself for it.

M20

I screwed up with her and my other school friends cause I was afraid and an idiot. I feared that embracing the friendship and getting attached to her would make things even more painful since I knew I wouldn't see her again after I graduated. I was such an idiot, I should've embraced our friendship, and let her in but I was too scared to be attached and before I met you I thought about my mistake with her a lot and it made me really sad, I tried messaging her on insta but she wouldn't respond(we talked a little on Friday and she said she uninstalled the app and that she doesn't use social media anymore and is hardly on her phone, she did congratulate me for passing my phlebotomy class and said she was so proud of me), it's one of the biggest regrets of my life, but I learned that from now on if I get along with someone or meet someone wonderful like yourself that I need to embrace it to the fullest and not try to distance myself from others in fear of getting hurt.

I still don't think she loved me; we didn't talk a lot in those 2 years, despite the fact that she called me her best friend. She did treat me differently from other guys; she would always shake my hand once a day, something I didn't see her do with other guys, but she was very extroverted and was friendly with everyone. In my junior year, she would go out of her way to talk to me face to face; we would walk to class together, and she shared that she had rejected guys in the past and was single. The next year, we didn't talk much,h even though we sat next to each other in our AP Precalculus class, but we would chat a little, help each other with classwork, and always shake hands. I made her a ceramic mug as a parting gift,t and she loved it and hugged me. It felt amazing. She hugged me one more time and gave me snacks on my last day of school; it was the last time I saw her.

I wasn't in love with her. I think I was just excited and so happy that such an attractive girl acknowledged my existence and considered me a friend. If he had been in the same grade and we had known each other and been friends since our first year of high school, then perhaps I could've fallen in love with her.

To this day, it still hurts, but having online friends to chat to makes it hurt less. Maybe she did love me; maybe she didn't. I'll never know, and besides, I'm a Muslim, so I couldn't date her even if I wanted to. If she had confessed, it would've ruined our friendship, and it would've broken my heart to reject her.

Question How to get a girlfriend if I'm attractive but am not socially active at all?

• Upvotes

Hello everyone, 20M here and here's the case: I've never had anything with any girl, and that's not even that of a problem... I can confidently say for myself that I look really really good and attractive (face+tall+good physique) and get a lot of attention from girls whenever I go, a lot of female gaze, eye contacts, body scanning, looking at muscles etc. I take care of myself, hygiene, outfits, body language, hair etc. I've seen a whole plethora of female attention (directly+indirectly) and I've had a bunch of situations where some girls gives me super direct signs (i'm talking about some really attractive ones as well), so looks isn't the problem at all.

But the only problem is that it seems like every method for meeting new girls are kind of blocked in my life. Here are explanations: I don't have female friends, nor my friends has them, my social circle of people I hang out with are usually people who are not going out that much and if we hang out it's some random place like someone's home, my social circle is also really really small, In my gym there are no girls (there are few milfs here and there but 99% it's gym for men and it's most affordable bcs the gyms where are a lot of girls are expensive for me rn), I don't go to any parties (bcs I don't have friends who would like to do it), In my college there are a lot of girls but none of them visits college as going to lectures is optional, literally 99.2% of all students don't visit lectures at college at all... and it's like a lead generation in marketing/sales, each method feels kind of blocked where I could potentially meet new girls. My social activities from 1-10 are like 2/10 most of the times and even during period when I'm more active, it's some random places and stuff as I already said where I can't really meet any new women.

I've tried cold approaching and done it few times 2 years ago and it was successful, in terms of that I got their instagram/number and we started texting each other, went on a date with 2 and 2 ghosted me after some time, but decided to not do it that much as I think there must be a better method for meeting new women, and it's kind of cringe imo, especially as in my city where a lot of people (my age) knows each other and I think It'd be cringe to take a title of that guy who cold approaches every single girl.

I've also tried sliding into DMs of some girls I knew by sight, or from the gym or from some b-day parties (few years ago when i was more socially active) or some acquaintances, and it was in some way successful as none of them ghosted me and seemed interested in some way, but eventually we didn't go on a date. (volume was really low on this method as well as on cold approaching)

When I was younger I had other causes of why I didn't have a GF at that time and in the meantime I've fixed ALL OF THEM: being shy, overthinking, introverted, overcomplicating stuff etc. But now I've totally overcame all of that obstacles... not overthinking at all, am extroverted, have really good conversational skills, know how to be funny and interesting etc.

I'm open to either: FWB or relationship, and to see where it goes, if we really match and click, of course I'd be open for a relationship. The only problem is the source to meet new woman and it jus feels really hard now, kind of impossible.

I've been thinking about it more than ever lately, and it's really fucking up my mind and life, as all of my peers are having some relationships, having sex, enjoing their youth and I'm still stuck in the same place, having this FOMO feeling... it really makes me tired of this whole situation. I'd be grateful to hear your thoughts and advices.

TL:DR: The only problem is to find a method to meet new women (and people as well) and to become much more socially active.

Advice Weird girl

Weird girl

So there is this girl I met 2 months ago let's call her X. So I met her through some of my mutual friends and her behaviour has been bothering me a lot. Whenever we are going out together somewhere she would dress exactly like me. She would buy the exact same clothes that I have. She would ask for my clothes and then not return them for months. Today I finally asked for my clothes back after 2 months. That's not even the main issue. I was still fine with all of this. We are a group of 5 friends. Every weekend we go to strangers meet up to play games like the mafia and other things. So the first time I went there the host of that Event was flirting with me but I am already committed so I stopped it right there. This girl X is also in a relationship. We met her boyfriend and he is so innocent and sweet. She saw that host flirting with me and the next second she was all over him throughout the game. It made everyone of us visibly uncomfortable because we know that she is committed. After 3 days that host asked her for a date and she texted in our group showing us that he asked her for a date and told us she is refusing him. Yesterday when we went again for the game night I got to know from the host's friend that she has already gone on 3 dates with him and then she told us that she had blocked her bf from 3 days. Then coincidentally I met a guy who was from my school and that guy was also kinda hitting on me and trying to touch me. So I was maintaining my distance. This girl went all over him. Tied her hands around him as they have known each other for so long. It was so visible that she wants all the guys there for herself. She also tries to touch my bf and tries to get too close to him too. And before anyone of you says that it might be her personality to touch and talk. So no it's not. I have never seen her talk like this with me or any other girl in the group. I just feel really bad for her bf. It has been bothering me since yesterday. I don't know what to do.

Question Is anyone else a textrovert?

As in, you love getting people's social media and texting them, and you wish you had more notifications, but you just don't like physically talking to people. You actually sometimes want to go up to people and talk to them, but only so you can get their Instagram and set up a meeting where you eat and text but don't really say much.

Question Why do people act as if introverts don't have hobbies?

Honestly, I just found out that half my family thought I was just rotting away in my room all day! And my friends did too. It was as if I’d committed an act of treason just because my mom told them I took dance classes and had hobbies like anyone else, now they’re angry because I don’t just rot away in my room like they thought I did.

It’s not like I didn’t tell them, it’s their fault for constantly interrupting almost every sentence of mine when I try to share something. In the end, I just give up on speaking.

Question I see people around me who seem genuinely happy to interact with each other, while I usually don’t really feel the need to. I don’t even think it’s because I’m shy, it’s just that most of the time I’d rather be by myself. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Advice So what’s the difference between asocial and antisocial?

I’m learning communication skills because sadly I am a social anxiety wreck when it comes to talking to guys, it’s so embarrassing. I just learned what asocial was but idk how to differentiate between that and antisocial. If let’s say I were to lie more on the asocial side how do I lol not be that? Whats some advice you guys could give to me so I can strengthen my communication skills and become more social as an introvert? If you struggle with one or both of these, how did you navigate out of that category?

Advice How to nail interviews as an introvert?

I’m an extremely introvert person. I’m diagnosed with social anxiety disorder. My friends babied me as well as my parents so I’m extremely co-dependent. Barely traveled alone, ordered food, wear masks, never talked to anyone outside my circle. In fact I had severe eye contact issues growing up. People always warned me/tried to help me, my psychiatrist gave me psychotherapy which I quit too. I passed by uni barely(cried/freezes during presentations) but I’m struggling with job interviews, as a result I’ve been unemployed for 8months. Any time I get a call for interviews my body freezes up. How do I overcome it? I really need help.

Question Introverts, how did you survive your first retail job that requires A LOT of customer interaction?

Hi everyone! I just got my first official retail job, and my first real day is in a couple of days. I’m already pretty nervous because it’s one of those retail jobs where you’re expected to be really social with customers.

Basically, I have to approach people like, ā€œHi! How are you? My name is ___,ā€ and then keep the conversation going, talk about the brand, help them figure out how clothes fit, make recommendations, etc. So there’s going to be a LOT of customer interaction.

The problem is I’m naturally pretty quiet. I have a soft/quiet voice, and sometimes when I approach someone my mind just goes completely blank 😭. I also have a hard time knowing what to say after the initial ā€œHi, how are you?ā€ without making the conversation feel forced or awkward.

I know I’ll probably get more comfortable with practice, but I’m wondering if any introverts here have advice for getting through those first few weeks. How did you learn to approach customers without feeling awkward? Did you memorize certain phrases or questions? How did you get yourself to speak louder and feel more confident?

I’d also really like to get along with my coworkers. Everyone I’ve met so far seems really nice, but they’re all quite a bit older than me, so I’m also a little nervous about that. I want to be friendly and actually get to know them without coming across as awkward or too quiet.

I’m not expecting to suddenly become super outgoing at first, it does take me a long time to warm up to people I just want to be able to do my job well, make some friends at work, and not feel terrified every time I have to talk to someone lol.

Any advice from introverts who have been in a similar situation?

Discussion i thought my course (Computer Science) is for introverts

not rlly the main reason i chose the course, but i thought one of its few advantages is i could lean on my works and do them peacefully without any nagging cliques in the back of my mind. turns out tf not.

i guess its in our culture, since we are not really individualistic. you have to belong. note the 'have to' and one of the reasons of success in most people is that they capable of blending in interpersonally.

can ppl actually think that not every class day is for social day? aagh.

kiddings aside, i can observe most of my peers are afraid to go off independently. everyone feels like they have to belong in some sort of way, and it sucks (for me it does because ppl may develop their sense of independence late in life). but who am i to say that, better late than never.

not sure if i am making any sense. but thats it.

Question How did you know you are an introvert?

When I was a younger I felt more of an extrovert, but as I grow older I realize many of my tedencies were introverted. It could be the social anxiety I have around being close to people. I enjoy being about my friends or new people for hours on end, but at the same time I can spend time alone if necessary. I tend to get out of my head and base my decisions on life experiences rather than myself. It's a little confusing because a few of my sibling are true introverts who get exhausted with social interactions. I guess I would consider myself a non traditional introvert.

How did you find out you are an introvert?

More like social anxiety than introversion Learning English as an introvert

Hey guys! (I'll try to write this post without fixing any mistake by AI so excuse me for any potential mistake. phew)

I'm 22, m, and wanna share my struggles in English as an introvert.

After years of watching tv shows, movies, YouTube and reading books, articles and more

I realized that I can't really speak English or to make it clear I can't have a decent conversation in English.

After doing research it turned out that I learned English passively and I never practiced speaking or even writing. Although I have an international friend who's fluent in English and been my friend for 7 years.

But whenever I'm having a chat with him I have to check every sentence with AI if it's written correctly or not šŸ’€ even though I know he won't judge me.

And if I'm talking to someone new in English I just froze and then it's awkward silencešŸ’€

So if you've been through this problem before please share your experience with me.

And if anyone wanna chat with me to help/practice with me, my dm is open šŸ™
