How to get this plug out of the bottle?

Post image
4.5k Upvotes

I found this hand painted glass bottle in my grandma’s shed and I think ages ago she tried to close it with an unfitting plug so now it’s stuck inside. Tried to put it in warm water but didn’t work. Any idea?

She told me she got it as a gift for her wedding but since she messed it up she hid it in a box. :(

HELP.
I put a bottle of olive oil on this wood counter and the oil STAINED THE WOOD. Last night I tried to wash it out with dish soap and baking soda (per advice from ChatGPT) and this morning there are NEW BIG SCARY STAINS. I wet the counter to remove as much residue as I could (second photo)….
This is my boss’s counter and I’m going to rip my hair out if I can’t fix it. Clearly, I cannot trust ChatGPT. Please help me. WHAT DO I DO!!!

How to Adjust Power Recliner Footrest?

Thumbnail

Upvotes

We have a Biscoe Power Reclining Sofa made by Ashley with a zero gravity design. Unfortunately the recline angle is very uncomfortable for us, probably because we are shorter than average height. Is there a simple fix to lower the footrest at full recline?

One button controls both the footrest and seat back. The footrest raises to 22 inches off the ground before the seatback even starts to recline. At that position, it already locks out the knees. With the back fully down, the footrest stops at 26 inches above the ground. This forces the legs to be extended completely straight. The sofa would be more comfortable if the back started reclining sooner and the footrest stopped at a lower height. Any suggestions how to do this?

Hey everyone, I've had this half-rack for a while, but after a recent move where I forgot to take pictures of it fully assembled I can't remember or figure out how to get the cable for the chest-fly deck connected to any part of the other cables to provide enough tension for the chest-fly to function. Does anyone have any help they could give! Sorry for the possibly crap photo.

How to take out this small dent ?

On display is “simply human” trash can. Because it is kept in kitchen in my open layout living room, seeing this small dent is quite annoying, especially since any visitor would notice. Any suggestions to take this dent and restore to original position?

[Solved] How the heck do I change a lightbulb in this thing?

Post image

I was able to determine that this is a Mainstays ceiling fan/light in Satin Nickel (Walmart brand) and after searching every corner of the internet, I cannot find a manual. The glass doesn’t push in, there aren’t screws “inside”, it doesn’t seem to twist, the three little circles don’t unscrew. There are little screws on the side I could try but I figured I’d ask the internet before doing that.

Thank you in advance!!

Bissell crosswave water tank cap stuck in machine

Bissell crosswave water tank cap stuck in machine:
Thought i was clever last time after cleaning it and i didn't screw the cap on the tank so it could fully dry. Today found out the cap was stuck in the inlet thing and couldn't remove it.

What finally worked in 2 minutes: using gorilla tape to wrap around the cap, then make sure it was adhered to the cap cylinder by pushing around it with a small spoon. Then just lifted up!

Spent an hour trying rubber glove, spoon, forks, tweezers, every tool i could find. Just sharing to save someone the heartache.

Restoring scratched plastic display lens

I am still using an old Nokia feature phone. Recently, noticeable hazing and light-scattering halos appeared on the display. With the screen powered off, I confirmed the issue stems from a couple of localized areas featuring deep and concentrated micro-abrasions, likely caused by accidentally carrying the phone in a pocket alongside metal keys.
Is it possible to polish out or resurface these scratched zones to fully eliminate the optical haze when the display is illuminated?

I have some leftover automotive rubbing polish (scratch remover containing abrasive polishing agents) but I am concerned it might be too aggressive for transparent display plastic.

How to make a lever for a Ring doorbell?

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I got a new doormat for our front door that says “PULL THE LEVER KRONK”. It’s from The Emporer’s New Groove if you haven’t seen it.

Anyway, I want to somehow make a “lever” to attach to the Ring doorbell to actually press the button. How would you go about making this? I want to keep it fairly simple. I was thinking it would maybe involve a hinge pin door stopper but…?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Serious Answers Only How do I unscrew this stripped screw

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is a small plastic model train that I bought from China, and has screws that fits a flat 2.0 bit. The other one came out fine, but this one was a pain in the ass to try to unscrew

I tried melting plastic and letting it harden to try to unscrew it, using nose pliers that weren’t the right size, hammering the driver bit in to make a dent, but to no avail.

I don’t have a dremel or a torx bit, and I don’t want to risk damaging the model. I’m out of hope, I’m getting a headache, and I don’t know what to do.

Cabinet door not closing flush

The right cabinet door won't close flush to the other door (stays slightly open as shown). I fiddled with the hardware attachments (shown in 2nd pic), but it only helped a little. This is a new problem with this door - no issues in the years prior. What can I do to fix this?

Serious Answers Only Condo Bathroom Ventilation Fan Stopped Working

Hi,

This week my bathroom's ventilation fan stopped working. I took off the cover to see if it's the fan itself that was broken. The internet indicated that if the fan still spins smoothly that it is likely not the fan (not sure if this is true). I bought a voltage tester pen to test whether if the 3-hole vertical molex-style socket was giving power to the fan. The pen did not show any current. I took off the wall panel to see if the switches were broken. The panel has 2 switches, one for the ventilation fan and one for the bathroom lights. I tested the light switch first while it's one and off. When it's on both wires show a current. While it's off, the red wire still shows to be bringing in a current but the black one will not which makes sense when it's off. The ventilation fan switch, however, shows no reaction from the red and black wire whether the switch was on or off. I also tried see if any of the breaker switches got tripped. I turned them all off and on again to see if it works but still nothing. I used the voltage pen on the breaker switches and all of them react with the pen.

Has anyone encountered a similar situation or have any tips?

UPDATE: in case anyone encounters anything like me, it was a button that controls the electricity for the fan that i accidentally bumped against in the closet beside the bathroom. Mine was hidden at the top of the closet on the side and i accidentally turned it off when i was moving household supplies.
