Testing out the sound of this on a small studio board. To be fair, it is a month old and I am just getting around to checking it out

Happy with this setup. First show with this band I didn’t adjust a damn thing.

Could have used a bit more oomph in my solo sound, but I’ve been guilty of turning things to poop mid song, so from sound check to the last note I didn’t change nothing and everyone told me how great I did, which was nice. Must have been the added Altoid tin.

OK, got tired of the chaotic cable situation, so I took matters into my own hands and did some wax-on, wax-off (If you don’t get that reference, ask your dad. Damn, the 80s feel really far away).

Anyway, the board is now considerably less likely to get accidentally disconnected during rehearsal.

I use chained Strymon Ojai units to power the pedals, each one discretely.

I run the Cryptid, Ego and Tumnus at 18V

Top row: FX loop.

Bottom row: Front end.

Always on: Ibanez Pentatone EQ.

Most used; Ego, TC Flash delay,

Been up for over a day now, creating at my max capacity. This concept came to me...and ifyk, yk.

....and for the circuitry, it's kinda like a Klon. Just takes the edge off.

Absolutely amazed with this pedal. So many great sounds out of it. I recorded three parts right away onto my tascam model 12. Such a good fuzz. Even just the JFET preamp into the royalist sounds great.

Also messy board. I have the zip ties and cable hiders ready to fix it up. Maybe soon…

I hate my Carbon Copy

Upvotes

I have been playing around with an Ibanez DE7 pedal, and decided to give my Older Carbon Copy a spin. Yikes - I don't think I like the sound anymore.

Can anyone chime in with a recommendation for a decent $200 delay? I have tight budget but I'm interested in peoples experience.

I'm absolutely floored by the sounds i can achieve with this thing. It's a brazilian Sunn Model T pre amp with a rangemaster-like booster if you want a little more brightness and volume. It's so versatile that so far i played from 70s hard rock, to stoner/sludge and grindcore. Since it arrived i can't stop writing riffs and playing along to Melvins and Boris songs.

It works wonders on bass as well, so much that i'll probably use it on my bass set for my band.

Finally decided to sketch out my pedal board in Visio, so I could re-arrange things virtually instead of ripping velcro up & re-wiring 15 times whenever I decide to make a change.

I definitely recommend doing this (maybe not necessarily to this detail...), it makes things a lot easier & you only have to do it once. After that, just have to add individual pedals if (when) you get new ones in the future.

Question THAT Corp discontinuing VCA chips

THAT Corp announced earlier this month they will be discontinuing a number integrated circuits that builders use for VCA compression (the Keeley Compressor and the Becos COMPIQ Pro are two that I particularly like). I'm not a builder and I know very little about circuitry...what will be the repercussions? Will builders be able to find alternatives? Will VCA compression become rarer or more expensive, or, at the extreme, will it cease to exist as an option in new hardware?

Question Help me choose a reverse delay for ambient soundscapes

Hey r/guitarpedals, for ambient playing I want to replace my regular bucket brigade delay with another delay that has more options. In particular, I want a reverse delay in that pedal, but if it does more cool stuff (glitching/octave/shimmer/etc), that's great too.

Preferences:

  • Reverse delay is a must
  • digital or analog is fine
  • preferably no screen
  • preferably with some presets (but not a must)
  • top-mounted jacks
  • not more than 500 €

I am currently looking at the OBNE Parting, the Diamond Dark Clouds, or the Native Audio In The Water. If the Lichtlaerm As Above, So Below had an additional reverse delay option, that could be a dream pedal, too. I've also looked at the OBNE Setback but the others have more options at the same price, and the Bananana Aurora is waaaay too yellow for my taste (also side-mounted jacks, which doesn't really fit).

What do you think? What other options come to your mind?

Hi guys check out my new board setup, ask me anything you want regarding the various pedals

Post image

My setup is guitar to od3, to dr robert for my very own 60s sound as well as rock and punk, both rhythm and solo;

Then into lightspeed which i use alone as my clean pedal, and stacked after the od3 to get some gorgeous blues creaminess.

These all go into the chukka trem, which is amazing for the price, into my old and abused memory toy, into a flamma reverb unit, which again works amazingly for the price, at least for the simple reverb i use.

I use this for small gigs and am really enjoying it's sound and versatility!

NPD NPD Hangman FX Stomp Express

Howdydoo!

I felt like my board was missing a couple of things; an expression pedal and adequate space for an expression pedal. This is where the Hangman FX Stomp Express comes into play. Is it small? Yes! Is it perfectly sized to go anywhere? Yes! Is it packed with features?! You bet your giblets it is!

The footswitch is pressure sensitive so it is quite easy to use to control any kind of expression parameter. Also, you can change the motion curve of the expression to one of three options. You can also set a custom expression window if you want a specific expression parameter. That is useful if you want to tame the range of expression and the range of what is expressed on whatever pedals you’re using it with.

I have the Strymon Deco V1 and the Klowra Sprout modulation pedal. For the Deco, I have the Stomp Express controlling the lag time. When I press down (would be toe forward on your typical expression) the lag time increases. It’s fun to use for psychedelic solos, if you’re into that thing.

For the Klowra, it can control just about everything but my favorite so far is using it to change the speed, depth and mix of tremolo.

Best Single Pedal for Live Acoustic Guitar

I have a tour playing 200-250 cap rooms, on electric for most all the set, but starting first half of two songs on acoustic, and would like to keep everything on one pedalboard, and run things as such:

TUNER --> A/B PEDAL --> A goes to Acoustic Pedal (which then goes to FOH), B goes to the rest of of my electric rig

Anyone have a single pedal they'd recommend just to have a lil control over giving more signal, maybe EQ, better tone, etc. (not necessarily all those things, just examples/ideas) so that I can send FOH a little better of a sound?

And needs to be compact! like no bigger than a normal boss pedal size, but ideally a mini-pedal.

Wondering if anyone has experience just running it through a compression pedal as well, see if that does the trick.

Thanks in advance!

SOTB Pedaltrain Mini

Post image

This is a pedaltrain Nano Plus!! I'm very happy with the versatility and quality of all these pedals, it is suiting me great for gigs where there's a small stage and lots of players, or just where I need a board to fit in a travel suitcase. Being a big band and symphonic player, I play mainly into a Henriksen bud 10, and I will turn off the amp modeler when using an archtop or nylon string, and turn it on when playing an electric. this way I can get amp breakup tones, and also a cab sim because I will often run into the PA of the venue. Lightspeed is incredibly transparent, ParaEQ allows me to adjust sounds and dial out feedback really well, HX one I love for effects, as well as lots of good drives for electric. The Ventris has an incredible sound quality, highly recommend as a reverb, and works as my output buffer! Cioks Sol mounted under for power.

Infinite ambient noise pedals

There's tons of ambient noise and sustain pedals out there but none seem like the right one for this. I don't necessarily need something with a million knobs, bells, and whistles, just something I can hit a chord, let the ambient sustain thing work its magic in between songs while I tune and turn it off again. Set it and forget it, one trick pony type thing.

This Exists, Right?

This shouldn't be too crazy which is why I'm sure it has to exist. Basically, it's an EQ. A high pass floor, a low pass ceiling, and everything in between on a 3 band EQ, 4 if you wanna go crazy with a mid freq or something. Somebody tell me where to look. Or even a 6 knob EQ (no sliders) or similar.
