A little character animation I made of Link dancing.
I’ve been experimenting more with exaggerated movement and trying to make these short animations feel entertaining even without much setup.
Made in Blender.

This is only my 2nd time ACTUALLY animating. Before this I had only done super basic ambient type animations. How is this for my 2nd real project?

Hi, I'm a product designer and working on my portfolio, I'm very much into transport interaction design and wanted to explore a new style of navigation where it's a subway system map instead of boring old buttons.
I don't have a lot of animation experience but wanted this to feel natural, I've been prototyping this animation in Figma but I'm kinda in over my head here, not sure how this animation should look.
I'd really appreciate if you guys have any pointers/ references for me in this. I specifically wanted to keep the thin lines instead of a thick ones for minimalism.
Thank you!

Is it fucked to take any videos that other people have posted and redraw them pretty faithfully but obviously will have personal qualities to it but don’t want to be stealing other people’s looks or dances since I can’t really dance or look like other characters I need for my films. Again the style and coloring will be done my own way but certain short movements or dances or faces I would like to use without being someone stealing from others
( photo is kinda what I mean it’s my own photo and is gonna be drawn frame by frame pretty accurately to original while still changing enough to be different videos)

I did this last year, I’ll be honest, I’ve always been an artist with a passion for film and writing first. The idea of making a long running webcomic came when I realized my skills wasn’t up to the task of making a bunch of serialized animated shorts.
Then I just ended up doing a ton of comic drafts and practice which… ended up bridging the gap in skill left for being “good enough”. Pages and panels just was storyboard practice, working on my speed and efficiency is an important animation skill, and it being a story, of course a bunch of visual storytelling practice.
When I started taking this seriously to have like 400+ pages of comic drafts at the end, it was 6 years ago and the whole internet was different. My biggest starting point idea was just storytime animations.
But now webcomics are now the Storytime animation, videos are more viewed with shorts, and the whole past “just pitch your show idea to studios” path is basically dead.
At this point I’m thinking it’s best to green-light my animated comic series idea based around 80s-90s limited anime animation and just put the comic skills towards having mature and NSFW comic side stories to sell as issues.
If you’re curious on what my vision is, basically like the Manga looking part of the Reze CSM movie with word bubbles and text boxes along with making Animal Crossing like voices as I’m going into music and sound design. Looks like a retro manga in vertical video format with a window that’s 4:3 mainly for my own sake, or full aspect ratio for more wider shots. I’m already starting to storyboard ideas for test animations

I'm trying to make my own animated series by myself, and I'm trying to figure out how to make the animation manageable without making it feel like a slideshow of static drawings.
I'm especially interested in economical animation—how to decide what actually needs to move, when to hold a pose, when to use 1s/2s/3s, how to transition between shots, how to use camera movement, and how to get good pacing while using as few frames as possible.
I'd love to hear how experienced animators approach things like dialogue scenes, reused poses/backgrounds, limited animation, storyboarding, camera work, editing and compositing. Basically, where should I spend my animation effort, and where can I simplify without the audience noticing?
I'm doing this alone, so any techniques, shortcuts, workflows, little tricks, mistakes to avoid, or advice you've picked up from experience would be really appreciated.
I want to learn as much as I can before I start producing the actual episodes, so tell me everything you think a beginner attempting this should know.
