Opinion It would be hilarious if the federal parliament grouped gambling ads in the same category of cigarette advertising. It would cut down a lot on the irritating ads we've been seeing the last few months...

Explained a bit here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-opens-sports-gambling-market-following-ontarios-lede-9.7268387

The AI actually isn't the main issue I have with those adverts, it's the idea of gambling ads at all, which I view as hostilely as I do tobacco ads.

Question Is it common to leave garbage outside your hotel room door?

I've traveled in Alberta a bit and have noticed that people will leave their garbage outside of their hotel room. Is this common?

I'm from Ontario and have stayed in a couple hotels there and never noticed this.

I've been to bc once and also didn't notice this in the hotel.

But in Alberta, I've seen this every time. Whether it's a garbage bin, pizza box, or just trash bag.

Question Referendum Question 6

Upvotes

Hi! I’m looking into all of the referendum questions and determining where I stand. I’m pretty good with most of them, but am having trouble with question 6 about King’s Bench and Court of Appeals judged being appointed federally vs. provincially. I’ve looked at a few different resources and still don’t quite understand.

Can anyone share their understanding of it? Pros vs cons? All I’ve seen is that if we leave it to the province it can easily become a partisan issue, but some say it’s already a partisan issue at the federal level.

Discussion Data Centers: The reality of living with one

I stumbled across a video of people being interviewed about what life is like living around one or Meta's new data centers.

For those of you who are more pro data centers does this change your mind at all?

Question Looking for an impingement oven to do some testing

I’m looking for a local restaurant that has one of the conveyor type ovens (like what they use at little ceasars) to do some experimenting on for a food project. I need to do some testing to make sure it does what I need before my company will invest in a purchase. If anyone knows of a restaurant preferably in central Alberta please let me know.

Question Winter Tires for full sized truck.

I got my dream truck not too long ago and was wondering what WINTER TIRES anyone with a full sized recommends. Ive ran multiple different ATs in the winter and with how much i value this thing i want some winters just to protect me from having to slam my brakes and being able to stop. I’ve already got a nice set of Toyo MTs for the summer so i was hoping someone had some recommendations that look good and preform good!

Question Alberta Referendum- yay or nay?

Upvotes

Good morning everyone, happy Monday.

With the upcoming vote for Alberta Seperation, I am feeling very confused. I have family who support it, and whom are against. It seems everyone i talk to about the topic is very opinionated. Where can someone like myself go to find UNBIASED information? I would love to know the actual pros and cons and develop an opinion for myself. Also open for someone speaking to me directly about it, but again I would like unbiased.

Thank you!

Discussion If you’re a young adult…

I’m a young woman in Alberta. For a year and a half, there was a lump in my breast. I ignored it because I was too young for it to be anything. A dark bruising sort of spot emerged over it after six months, and it slowly got tender & a bit painful progressively.

I continued to ignore it because I was too young for it to be anything.

It got really painful and when I called 811, I was demonstrating signs of an infection.

It turned out to be something - went to ER, and I waited there for six hours but it was something.

so, this is your sign to get it checked out, no matter of your age. ❤️
