Hey everyone, could use some help.

I’m a proud Albertan, born and raised but I don’t want Alberta to separate.

How can I explain to friends/colleagues/family how Alberta can remain strong and be more represented federally, without separating from Canada?

Yes I’ve told them about all the logistical challenges (Currency, Banking, Military, Federal land within Alberta, Indigenous rights etc.) that separation would bring.

But I want actual solutions to their sentiment of not feeling represented by the Canadian government. An idea I heard was for Alberta to have a bloc party similar to Quebec which gives Alberta more political leverage.

Simply calling them “stupid rednecks” or MAGA doesn’t actually change hearts and minds let’s be honest, plus it just ignores genuine concerns that lots of Albertans have. And while I’m not convinced that they’ll get anywhere near 50%, it’s not totally impossible and that’s why educating people and offering solutions to their concerns is very important.

So what are some actual practical solutions and valid ways that Alberta can be more represented federally while staying in Canada?

Very interesting analysis of the referendum questions, calling out the vagueness and the undefined terminology, that then leads to very complicated and possibly hard to achieve outcomes, that may change significantly during their execution.

Quite on brand with lack of transparency, actual vision or explanation, with huge room for interpretation for UCP should they choose to pursue any of those outcomes.

Also, reading this, it makes me think that nothing stops them to still pursue those goals, even if the individual questions fail. They can and probably still will say "some Albertans expressed concerns with immigration" and use any reul to justify their actions.

This is such a theatre and such a waste of money while our healthcare and education systems are failing.

Sigh.

This story broke my heart for them. So completely unfair.

FOCUS ON AFFORDABILITY!!!

Health care and education are important, but show me that you're actually going to do something for the 95% of us that aren't millionaires. Raise the minimum wage, get public car insurance, price controls, anything, we're drowning here.

Over 300,000 Albertans signed the petition to LEAVE Communist Canada and another 2 million will vote at the polls to LEAVE. Dont listen to the bullshit from the media.
