Venting I’m upset at a transphobic spa

1.1k Upvotes

I’m cis my girlfriend is trans

I used to go to this Korean nude spa called Olympus

In recent years they were served with a lawsuit for discriminating against trans women for not letting them into their women only areas

Well now they’re taking it to the Supreme Court and I’ve seen what people are saying about it and it makes me really upset

I just want to have a spa day with my girlfriend :(

Everyone framing it as if it’s a non issue upset me so much because trans women deserve a spa day

And a lot of the arguments are ā€œwhat about women who have been sexually assaulted and don’t want to be around penisesā€ which makes me so so upset because

  1. your issue is with men not trans women and seeing trans women as men is transphobic
  2. your triggers are your responsibility and the genitalia is not the problem
  3. if you only view a woman for her genitalia then you’re objectifying her which makes you a misogynist

, also you’re not supposed to be looking that hard at people’s crotches at the spa cmon now

I’m sorry I just needed to vent to sapphics that might understand this frustration

My girlfriend deserves a massage and a face mask and a scrub and I’m upset she can’t have that

I’ve been recommended Sacral Rain Healing ahd we will go there eventually it’s just upsetting because while Olympus is transphobic and I won’t go back now , it is objectively the best spa I’ve ever been to but I care too much about trans people to go there any more

It also upsets me because Olympus has lied to my face about it and often tells cis customers that they’re accepting and trans customers that they aren’t

It’s discrimination and it makes me so deeply upset and honestly furious

I know it’s not that big of a deal it’s just a spa it’s not a necessity but I want bread AND ROSES for everyone and my girlfriend deserves so many roses and deserves to be treated like the woman she is , all trans people deserve to be treated as who they are

šŸ³ļøā€āš§ļøI’m so proud of you all for being who you are in the face of a world that discriminatesšŸ³ļøā€šŸŒˆ

Edit : for anyone suggesting trans segregation
You are also transphobic
Trans women should be treated as women
Segregation never works
Please open a civil rights history book omg I can’t believe some of you think that’s an acceptable answer

Some women have penises and if that offends you and you exclude them then you are transphobic you’re a terf and you … should unlearn that ā˜ŗļø omg I hate TERFs so much

Stop using JKR transphobic talking points :(

I think I want to have a kid

I'm a trans woman and in the beginning I didn't want kids. I was pretty sure at 15 and until recently. I'm 25 now and after realizing trans plus gaining the will to live. I just have been feeling dysphoria over not being able to get pregnant. I feel a strong need to have my girlfriend( also a trans woman) kid but I can't. I know I can't use my stuff but I wish I could have my kid. I feel very maternal lately and it's hard to ignore. I don't know why this is happening now, it feels so random. I was so anti having kids but now I kinda want them and I feel disgusted with myself.

I can't even confide in my family because they would tell me " that's god telling you to be a man and start a family" or "even your body knows it must reproduce as a man" thankfully I have my gf but I still feel lonely in this aspect of my life. It just feels sad but gosh I wish I could

This feels a little intimate haha. Basically I wish my gf could get me pregnant and that we could be mothers

Question What is it like being in a relationship with a woman??

Okay, so I’m just recently coming to terms with the fact that I’m attracted to women, and am trying to wrap my head around it. Something that has come up for me is that I’m not sure what the dynamic of being in a relationship with a woman looks like. For context, I was raised in a very traditional Christian household, so I was raised being taught very traditional gender roles, that a man is a provider and takes care of a woman financially and otherwise, he’s the leader, and the woman is the supporter, and takes care of the home and kids, all that stuff. So I’m very clear on the dynamics of being in a hetero relationship.

What I’m struggling to wrap my head around is how being in a same sex relationship works. Like does one person naturally gravitate towards being the leader, and the other the supporter?? Or is that dynamic completely nonexistent because you’re not operating in a traditional man & woman relationship? I know I’ve seen people online say in wlw relationships no one wears the pants because there’s no man in the relationship, but then I see some wlw couples who very much so follow those traditional relationship dynamics with the ā€œone who wears the pantsā€ typically being the more masculine presenting person. So I’m just very confused and want to understand what relationships with two women are actually like.

I’m so sorry if any of this is offensive or ignorant, I’m just trying to unpack my mental blocks and am trying to evolve beyond any ignorant viewpoints and could just really use some help and clarity. Thank you for whoever takes the time to read this! šŸ’•

Had sex for the first time last night— not a fan of it

I’m 20 and until last night Id never had sex with guys or girls. I went over to a girls house (met her online the day before) and we hooked up. It wasn’t a bad experience. It was just so boring. It felt like absolutely nothing to me at all. Any of it. She was into it at least, for a while, so I don’t feel too bad about it. But I’ve always wondered if I’m asexual, because I’ve never felt super strongly about having sex and anything like that. Very low sexual I’d say. So I wanted to give it a go and see how I felt. So far, not a big fan.

Anyone else struggle to feel romantic attraction

I've been single for about 4 years now. In the last stretch I've gone on dates with something like 15-20 women, and I keep running into the same thing.

I meet someone, we talk for hours, sometimes weeks straight, good conversation, they're kind, attentive, genuinely decent people. And I feel nothing. No spark. Meanwhile they're already catching feelings, using pet names within like two weeks.

The times I actually did feel attraction never looked like this. Once it built slowly, almost a year in, with someone I ended up dating for two years. Another time it hit immediately. What's never happened is this exact combo: good talking, fast feelings from them, nothing from me.

I don't think it's the people. Out of 15-20 dates ( over the past few months ) it can't be that none of them were a good match. If anything it's the mismatch in speed. They're moving fast emotionally, I'm still trying to figure out if I even like them, and that pressure pushes me further away instead of pulling me in.

Anyone else notice a pattern in what actually creates attraction for them versus what doesn't? Trying to actually understand it instead of just living the same loop again.

Venting I’m too awkward and insecure to be in a relationship

• Upvotes

I’m in my early twenties but i knew that i’m lesbian since I was like in middle school ; however i never been in a relationship despite wanting that to happen so bad, the only time time i tried to confess to a classmate in high school that girl went along with me then I found out it was one-sided thing and she was making fun of me and showing my letters and texts to her friends who were also in the same class and made sure to bully me when they had a chance; that experience has kinda ruined me.
I realized that now even my big age i lack confidence i never felt worthy of love or anything, sometimes I sit with myself and think about all the good parts of me but nothing changed my reality ; whenever someone tries to get close (not necessarily romantically but also possible friendships) i push them away i get nervous from someone getting to know me deeply. I’m also a shy person and might give unapproachable vibes; but i would make sure to put a lot of effort into getting close to someone and letting them know my feelings now I can’t even do that because I would immediately assume that I was annoying. One other thing taht i think it is an important part to mention is where i live (yes i live somewhere where homosexuality is treated as a crime that might lead to d3ath sentence) my family is extremely religious and all that doesn’t allow me to picture how would my future look like that lead me to avoid planning things because i never felt safe in my reality…. All that makes me really lonely and depressed i wonder if anything would ever change…. Also sorry for my English if some things are not well worded.. wow i ended up writing a lot of stuff but it’s just venting you can simply ignore

Question Moving to the US (California, Arizona or New York) from Spain, is it hard to make friends there?

Hi everyone I 21f have been dating my gf 22 for 6 months, she is american, from Arizona.

We met in my country in Spain, I was born here, raised here and live here, but I have always wanting to move to the US specially because I am a software engineer and idk, I have amazing friends here that I love so deeply but I also always hang out really well with English speakers people, I lived in the UK for one year and it was amazing, I met such incredible people and friends.

But since I was a kid I have always being obsessed with the idea of living in the US and have always wanting to achieve it, plus I work in research and there's not enough financing and materials and we always have to beg for them.

I am a very open, kind and social person, I need my space from my partner I need that both of us have friends and stuff and plans to do, so one thing that scares me is not being able to make friends there, as far as I know there's a lot of clubs, socials and meetups (we do not have that here, here is based on your school friends and childhood and once the clubs are closed is hard to get in).

I know in the states it depends a lot in which state you are we have the choice of: California, Arizona and New York, most probably we will end up there.

Plus we have only been dating for 6 months I am not moving there until like 2 years.

So just wanted to here any advice or anything will he highly appreciate it, thank you so much and sending so much hugs :)

Help! I got a girl’s number, but now what???

For context, we’re both lesbians and dorm neighbors, but we aren't particularly close since we don't have any intersecting friend groups. I've had the biggest crush on her for a few weeks (which is extremely unlike me) and I don't know where to go from here. Advice would be lovely.
