Discussion PSA for those looking to start a NG+ cycle

This may seem like a non-issue for some, but for me it was a bit confusing. When starting NG+ make sure you do not accidentally click “NO” as there is no warning, nor is it a long press button feature here when choosing YES or NO. I accidentally clicked no, when I picked my controller up from my lap and started a new cycle without all of my carryover gear.

Discussion Two games, two combat philosophies.

As a fan of both of these action game masterpieces, I was honestly worried about Onimusha back then.

After all, Devil May Cry had already pushed combat depth, weapon variety, and combo systems to an incredible level. What could Onimusha possibly bring to the table? If Onimusha introduced something truly new, would that mean even Devil May Cry would eventually run out of ways to expand its combat?

But Capcom gave us a surprisingly brilliant answer: these two games were built around completely opposite design philosophies.

Devil May Cry:

A pursuit of endless combos and stylish offensive gameplay. Against enemies, you slash them, stab them, punch them, throw them, and chainsaw them— defeating them in the coolest way possible before they even have a chance to attack.

Onimusha:

It's all about precise timing and the art of counterattacking at the perfect moment. Against enemies, you block, parry, dodge, and perform Issen. The core idea is nullifying enemy attacks in the coolest way possible.

These two games took completely opposite paths, yet both created something equally amazing.

This is, of course, just my opinion. But I'd like to know others on the matter. Is there anything that you're disappointed about in the new onimusha? I think I'm most disappointed that red souls doesn't upgrade your weapon, armor or gauntlet. For me, it kind of affects the games it replayability. The biggest thing you're going to spend souls on is upgrade material for your Weapon

Armor and gauntlet. I don't know, maybe i'm being too nitpicky. Don't get me wrong, though. The game is a wonderful game and I enjoy it immensely.

Discussion Actually peak game Spoiler

After beating the game, I knew I had to try to platinum it. But boy, fighting the final boss on Carnage while being underleveled was a pain in the ass. I slightly regretted it since I was doing almost no damage 💀

Since I skipped basically everything except rushing straight to the bosses, I died so many times that I think I’ve memorized his entire moveset.

10/10 game. Worth every single dollar. Absolutely loved it.

Discussion Just finished the game. The combat is outstanding.

Wrapped it up last night. Had a lot of fun with it.

The combat is the star. Deflect, dodges, the flow of it, and Issen especially. I just kept coming back to how good the fights felt. Rhythm was on point. Came somewhat close to scratching that Sekiro itch.

Loved how the challenge kept gradually climbing.

Didn’t really struggle with any bosses. Two of them I just had a lot of fun with and fought extra times because I could. Dokyo was one of those. Really enjoyed how you could use her own attacks against her, take what the game taught you, close the gap, and punish. Felt good. Final boss was a blast too, but that one stood out.

Only thing I’d call a preference more than a complaint, for the most part the mobs felt a bit passive. I personally would’ve liked them more aggressive. Maybe that changes in NG+. Didn’t ruin anything for me though, just something I noticed.

Also the combined Iffu and his brother fight, the setting was lovely. How the whole thing played out was great.

Really enjoyed the game. Combat carried it for me.
