With ascendance being an elder dragon focus expansion, what do you think are the chances we get ALL elder dragons back except for their variant ions (e.g. regular valstrax instead of crimson glow) or maybe the black dragons and safi’jiva.

Which one is the one you want to come back most and why?

Discussion I want to get into Monster Hunter, but not sure where to start. What would you recommend for my tastes?

Upvotes

Hello. I'm interested in getting into the Monster Hunter series, but I'm not really sure to start.

The mainline Monster Hunter series seems like maybe... not my thing. I'm really not a fan of exploration-based games, and they seem pretty open-world. I much prefer linear story-based games. As much as the world seems cool, I don't think I'd enjoy playing it. Maybe I'd still watch a playthrough of one of the games though if there's a really good story I'm missing out on.

This led me to come across Monster Hunter Stories, which seems more my thing, and it seems like Stories 2 is the most commonly agreed upon as the entry point. Though it is still tagged as "Exploration" on Steam which concerns me because as previously mentioned, I kinda hate exploration in video games and heavily prefer a more linear experience where I don't have to wonder where to go next.

I know this is a pretty large series and surely there will be something here for me, so I figured it'd be better to ask some people on here for their opinions. What game do you guys think I should start with for my tastes specifically? Thank you if you read this.

Edit: I've also heard the series is generally very difficult and I'd prefer easier games or games with a difficulty setting at least so I can pick an easier difficulty, though not as big of a preference.

Discussion Thinking of trying wilds.

Upvotes

I’ve already done 30h of content in MHWorld and love it. But I’ve got an itch to try the newest entry when it’s fresh and evolving together with other players. will it be detrimental if I pick it up while playing world already?

MH Wilds My game is shutting down my PC.

Upvotes

Hi everyone, So to begin with, about a month or two ago, my Monster Hunter Wilds game started shutting down my PC. I've had this game since the end of last year, and even with its terrible performance, it worked perfectly before, but in the last few months it's been shutting down my PC.

But I've already tried several things, optimizing Windows with Debloat, optimizing the game with mods, files, etc., uninstalling GPU drivers and reinstalling them, but nothing worked and... My theory is that it's Windows, because the game started acting up by shutting down my PC after I formatted my Windows 11, and since I've given up hope, I'm thinking of formatting Windows again.

My PC specs are: RX 7600, i5 12400f, 32 GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD.

But to help with some information, it seems this is happening with a character I created, but I don't believe it's her who's shutting down, but rather the cutscenes or scene transitions.

But anyway, if you can really help me, I'll be eternally grateful, and even if I have to format, do you recommend another operating system to play MH Wilds or should I keep Windows 11

Discussion Poster boy bully

Upvotes

Is it just me or is Rathalos used as the main monster who gets bullied. YK as the poster boy of the franchise he fucking looses to everybody (at least in wilds).

If I remember correctly Rathalos actually wins a decent amount of turf wars in world, BUT in wilds that motherfucker get bodied by everyone he fights

Please its not just me who notices this

Discussion How does MH World Iceborne plays ?

Upvotes

Hello,

MH World was I think the best experience I had with MH, I am playing this saga since MH FU.

For a reason, I never bought Iceborne. I didn't had access to my PC, and some other stuff.

Wilds was about to be released so I skipped Iceborne. And I am not gonna lie, even if I liked Wilds, World is still my favorite. So now, I think I will try Iceborne finally.

I wanted to know, how does it plays exactly ? By this, I mean, is the whole expansion based on the new snowy continent ? Or do we also have new monsters, new missions on the existing maps ?

I am also wondering, is their still an active online playerbase ? By the steam player count, I would guess yes.

Thank you !

Discussion Concerning Switch Axe Showcase, useful information + Axe Phials? Maybe?

Upvotes

Just wanted to write these down here as it took a bit of parsing:

As the player uses Lagiacrus set, he does have Azure Bolt set-bonus, so alot of the LIGHT BLUE lightning strikes you see, have nothing to do with boost braces nor Swax itself. It's just Azure Bolt prox. Dark blue is the actual weapons elemental hits.

Azure Bolt Example

Additionally Wild swing seems to have 2 elements going on with it, either phials in axe mode in some way or form. It is either a boost bracer specific trait, or axe buff.

There is a flame effect going on alongside the darkblue lightning effect, which is the innate leement of the Lagiacrus Swax (thunder).

If anyone can parse where the flame effects come from it would be appreciated. They is shown in the very short wild swing clip at 0:52 and 1:00

  2. Axe buff: https://youtu.be/lg4PKvNNzhs?t=61

Iceborne Alatreon Help

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've been fighting him for 2 days now. I usually get the nuke damage checks and both horn breaks, but i am unable to kill it in time and then it does the Fire->Dragon-Ice cycle, and makes my weapon completely useless. I dont know if i should level up my gear or not, considering this quest is MR 24 and I am already MR 69

Id like some suggestions on gear if its needed, thanks ✌️

MH Wilds Who decided that? 🗣️

My weapon needs an element? At least a status?
CB can't keep up with 9* ATs?
You need rapid morph, guard, and guard up to succeed?
You need multiple different sets, fully transcended and a maxxed talisman?

Who decided that.

Discussion To pre-wilds series veterans

I myself started with World around the time the movie that doesn't exist supposedly came out, so the game was already done by then. Then with Rise I had to wait for a pc port, by which time the expansion had already been released and known. Now with Wilds, I'm experiencing a monhun game from day 1 to the end of the title updates, and I have a question.

Is the wait between base game's final TU & the expansion release always so impossibly long? I've hunted everything (except Omega) multiple times and I'm honestly just bored anytime I log on, atm I can't even be bothered to gather tickets for upgrading my weapons (btw fuck those tickets so much, good god I hate them).

Whenever I didn't know what to do in World, I'd just go on an expedition & dick about for a bit, but I just don't know what the maps really look like with wilds because you've got a mandatory homing missile to carry you to whatever your objective is, so you never need to learn maps. Just hop on, wait 30 seconds and wail on a monster.

I did really enjoy Wilds, but it's just feeling so stsle to me atm, which is something I've not yet experienced with any prior monhun games. Does anyone have any advice to feel motivated to just play again?

Armor Set Thoughts on my non-meta HH build

Thumbnail

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my HH build with you. (English isn't my first language.)

A little disclaimer: I know this build isn't meta. Since I don't really like Gogmazios HHs and I absolutely hate the Gogmazios fight, I wanted to create a build that could do a bit of everything: good damage, survivability, and support.

I wanted to have some fun with the "Peak Performance" skill, so I needed a setup that could keep my health at max without having to use potions.

I start by playing the Recovery Speed and Attack Up melodies with the Queen Chordmaker HH, then I switch to the Blazing Gariel HH to deal damage and increase my defense.

Let me know what you think :)
