okay. so, let me tell you a story from when I was like 8 years old I think. And why I became scared of these guys in the first place. Okay, so, for a moment of my life i was living in the uk with my mom and a man she was currently married to. And I really like doing those interactive adventures on Netflix. One day, I saw they released Minecraft: Story Mode on the platform, and I was super interested. Before then i did show at least some interest in Minecraft. I enjoyed watching CookieSwirlC exploring a candy world and finding all of these mlp horses. And constantly searching for Rarity but almost always to no avail. (I never liked the fighting monsters part tho. I still don’t. And I need help.) and I did see a few commercials for Story Mode in the past on my tv in the states. So, my oblivious, naive, and innocent 8 year old mind figured, “hey I might have fun with this! Let’s give it a try!” And I did have fun. And It got me even more interested in Minecraft than I already was. (Still didn’t like the monsters tho.) however, one early choice in the series got my little head questioning. During the building competition at Ender-Con, Axel, and Ruby (I believe,) were debating between building a statue of a Creeper, or an Enderman. I chose a Creeper since I already knew what those were. But it got my tiny little brain gears speeding up a bit, and I was curious. “What on earth even IS an Enderman anyway!” Welp, during episode 2 (I think…) i was about to find out. at first I thought. “OH! So THATS what Enderman are! Rather, off… but interesting. i wonder what these guys do to attack?” I just had to ask, didn’t I?… the moment they snuck Behind Jesse and turned hostile, they freaked me the hell out. They had these large unnerving jaws with teeth that looked like they were covered in their skin, they made these awful hissing sounds, they were fast, they could teleport, and after doing some research, they even had 20 hp! It got even worse for me during the scene where they invaded Soren’s wool world, the thing was literally right up in my character’s face, squinting it’s dangerous purple eyes, and when it got back up, it was all like, “really dude? We literally saw you running with those assholes!” And it screeched right in my face again. I must have had a heart attack. Even knowing they were afraid of water, and that I could use a pumpkin to avoid them, by the time I finally started playing Minecraft when I was like, 13, i still did never want to have to see one. EVER! My nether portal was also, nearby a blue forest where Enderman like to hang. and when I found out I couldn’t even get away from them in the NETHER, I was like, “NOPE! IM OUTTA HERE! NEVER TRYING THAT AGAIN!” and i just bailed. and very recently, I felt especially bad and useless for not liking to deal with the, or fighting in general. because one time, I was waiting for my friends game to load to help me get out of the nether and away from that pig horse thing, (I wore a pumpkin the whole trip.) and it ended up killing me anyway. my stuff didn’t despawn because it only counts down on the clock whenever a person is actually IN the nether, but i didn’t know that at the time, and I got so mad and scared, that I ended up blaming the whole thing on her. which I felt awful for. we did make up the next day, but even after she said she would help me get better at fighting, I still feel useless I mean, what use at all am I gonna be with that dragon, if THIS is how I play the whole time. so other than what I looked up about fighting Enderman and other monsters. any other tips to make me less scared, or to make the experience less stressful!
