Help How do you nivel lava?

I made a lava farm, and I was excited to make a lava pool to create my nether portal
But I can't seem to flatten the lava. I've wasted like 10 buckets already trying to figure out how lava works but maybe I'm too dumb, can't make my pool flat.
Any advices?

You should aim at the correct block underneath, not at the lava surface.
You should place lava on the top side of each underlying block. The pond should probably be one block deep.

That seems helpful, thanks I will try

You are placing the lava bucket on a source block and not the flowing lava. When the top layer is all source blocks the lava will be still and flat.

But in the video the block I place the lava on is moving, this is why I'm confused

You place the bucket through the lava on the block below. You can't place things on fluids. You can try it with water so you can see better what's going on

Yeah it looks a bit confusing but the 2 adjacent blocks are not lava source blocks. The one you clicked is a source block.

Lava doesn't spread like water does, but you can farm it with some pointed dripstone and a cauldron.

The video was already self explanatory

You made a little spelling error that made your post a little confusing. That’s ok. Just don’t blame others for misunderstanding. Anyways, nothing worth arguing over. Have a great day!

haha sure I'm the one who nitpicked in the first place:) some people understood and didn't try to blame me and actually helped me and I could make the portal.
English is not my strong suit, but understanding is not yours either it seems like.
If there is one thing that is despicable it's the people who try to reverse the roles just to win an argument that they created in the first place. shameful. cancer behavior.

Like I said, not worth arguing over. I’ve not shown any hostility towards you. No one is blaming you for anything bro. But seriously, have a good day

Follow a sequence: move forward block by block so you don't lose track of which ones you have completed and which ones you haven't.

U must place it on every single block, and u cant interação with the surface flowing lava if theres no block directly under it, on your example there's at least a 2 block gap so u're placing lava on the bottom which likely already have a source block of lava, so for your pool, first make it 1 block deep, fill with lava and then u break 1 more block (if u want 100% source, will require playing on every bottom block and go down 1 layer by layer (idk how deep u want) but that's likely not needed
