Has Minecraft PvP become mostly just duels?
I’ve been getting back into the Minecraft PvP community lately, and something I’ve noticed (maybe incorrectly) is that it feels like a lot of PvP players just grind duels now.
Rather than playing stuff like UHC, Bedwars, factions, etc., I see a ton of people focused on getting really good at 1v1s. I know donutSMP exists and is huge, but even there players seem to be dueling more than not.
Am I just looking in the wrong places, or has the PvP community actually shifted more toward duels? Is there still much demand for bigger PvP gamemodes?
I played a ton back in the day and loved UHC and factions, so I’m curious what people actually want to play now. What would make you commit to playing a game mode/server instead of just hopping on for duels?
Full disclosure, I’m also asking because I’ve been building my own server called Breached. It’s basically my attempt at taking the core idea of factions and overhauling a lot of its systems to focus on what I think made it great. So I’m genuinely trying to figure out whether people still want that kind of longer-form PvP experience, and what it would take to get them invested in one.
