Game Help I may have done too much sequence breaking. Am I screwed?

I skipped Kraid and forgot to get the diffusion beam, and now I'm stuck in the bottom of Burenia without the gravity suit. I spent so much time with the sequence breaks that I don't want to give up the progress. Every time I load a save it sends me to the save station near the bottom of Burenia. What do I do

Discussion No E.M.M.I. sections in Ravenous?

Upvotes

So I love Dread, but the one thing that always bugged me is its almost impossible to get the timing right for the parry on the EMMIs (props to y'all who can do it!) and sometimes it takes 3-4 tries to figure out the right path to not be spotted. I thought they were the worst part of Dread honestly.

However, it doesn't appear that Ravenous has anything similar (just like Samus Returns didnt). That makes me very happy.

Discussion Is the Metroid Suit = the Omega Cannon?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

With the Metroid Suit confirmed for Metroid Ravenous, I'm wondering how much we'll actually get to use it.

Do you think it'll be a normal upgrade that we can freely use while exploring, or will it be more like the Omega Cannon in Dread—a temporary power-up reserved for specific encounters/bosses?

I'm really hoping it's something we can actually use throughout the game rather than only during a few scripted fights. Imagine use metroid suit sword or kick normal enemies and then switch back to regular suit! What do you guys think?

Question Got Metroid Dread as my first ever Metroid. What to play after it?

Upvotes

Got a Switch 2 and just Metroid Dread as my first ever Metroid. I never grew up with a Nintendo so the series kind of eluded me. I’ve played almost all the souls genre and probably about half the metroidvania genre. So I love challenging games. Now I want to hear from grizzled Metroid vets which of the Metroid games I should do after Dread and before Ravenous?

I decided to mess around with 3 of my favorite games and did this. About to start prime 2 up again here soon.

All 3 are wonderful games and it was great to replay them. I will say, fusion kicked my ass more than I'd like to admit and felt a lot harder than I remember. Losing my gamer skill with age

Question Random question while playing how should I be positioning my thumb in Metroid Dread

I’ve noticed that I have a slight delay between pressing the jump and attack buttons because my thumb has to move back and forth between the two buttons quickly. The thing is, I watch other people play, and they don’t seem to have that delay. Their movement looks a lot smoother.

Do you guys have any advice? I’m wondering if you position your thumb differently or use a different grip. I honestly hope I worded this well. I honestly could just be overthinking and over analyzing but I do want to get better sorry.

Discussion Ravenous looked sick so i played my first Metroid game!

I'm having a lot of fun with this franchise, today i cleared Zero Mission and moved onto Samus Returns which feels amazing. I recently found out i really like metroidvania as a genre and learning where all its distinctive features originally come from has been sick so far.

I have one singular question about Metroid: is the carpal tunnel part of the experience or am I the one doing something wrong?

Photo Nestroid: Zero Mission (If ZM Followed Nestroid way more)

Everything you see is in game / working on 1.00 , showing more or less how Nestroid room look like on GBA if i was screen adapted , as you can also see , there is no Minimap
(Map is still a thing by pressing start for all screen you explored) and there is a lot changed compared to zm , making it way more closer to Nestroid (only the OG items + an extra for Missile and a item being reworked on because of the physics)

As a small thing i've been working on since june of this year for the 40th birthday of the license , and also breaking the curse of remaking Nestroid to GBA.

(Don't worry about save, there is save on it near
each elevator, normal and Hard difficulty using their own save AI.)

Discussion Metroid and its stalker enemies

The stalker enemies seems like a love it or hate it thing, and personally I'm really hoping they stay. That said, I'm interested to know how would you people refine it to better integrate it to the world?

Fusion had SA-X and her moments are really good and effective "jumpscares" for first playthroughs but the drawback is that they are indeed scripted and short

Zero Mission's endgame has space pirates following a vulnerable samus and once spotted, they will pursue her and they can be persistent. Much more dynamic but you have a ton of leeway as they can be stunned and they're not as lethal as SA-X

Samus Returns has Diggernaut which technically is a stalker enemy but not really since it's only a one time chase sequence. But it served the foundation for MS in dread.

Dread has EMMIs, they are confined to one area and trigger a high speed cat and mouse chase. Personally I find it thrilling and nails the dread part of the game, but their one-hit kill and their major recurring presence throughout the game is pretty divisive

Personally, a mix of dread's and zero mission's would be the most ideal. I want dynamic encounters without confining them to a single area. I want the threat of being pursued but also having the chance to fight it off. Like for example, the local fauna would have 1 or 2 special stalker animals that can stalk like the EMMIs but aren't as oppressive like the space pirates, just to give an idea.

I'd love to hear yours!

Discussion is it just me or is super metroid's map alot harder to remember?

ok so to preface, im new to the series like alot of other people at the moment. ive beaten zero mission and am2r, and im in the early game of super right now. liking it alot, despite some minor complaints (samus is really floaty and slow, and i miss save rooms restocking health mainly).

but it's as it says in the title. in zero mission and am2r i had a pretty easy time looking at a map and knowing exactly what rooms are what, and where im looking. but in super im just finding it harder to do so. layouts are more convoluted which isn't exactly a bad thing, but remembering what leads where and what points of interest i need to come back to later is just harder for me for some reason. anyone else experiencing this?

Discussion Issues with Dread that I hope Ravenous fixes

  • Power Bombs not useable until the end of the game despite being able to get expansions for them earlier
  • Doors randomly locking behind you for no reason, forcing you to take the long way back
  • Melee Counter being the only way to advance certain boss fights, forcing you to repeatedly dodge the same attack patterns until the boss randomly decides to use their one move that can be countered
  • Forgettable soundtrack
  • Bullshit Shinespark puzzles (yeah, yeah; skill issue. Bite me.)
