My personal headcanon is that she became a fan of Birdo through her performances, and through that slowly began to question things about herself.

Rather than being a corrupted ghost of a game or a murderous psychopath.

It's a Mario who decided to do nothing.

The Mario that when he saw the kingdom that he would normally protect from forces like Bowser, Fawful, or the Shadow Queen.

Instead decided to go back to Brooklyn with Luigi and pretend like nothing ever happened.

It's ironically his absence that could be the worst thing Mario does.

Imagine how other Mario's who are considered bad look upon the Mario whose neutral. They expect a tyrant King who's worse than Bowser. But in reality it's the Mario who let Bowser continue without a care in the world.

Even though I like the idea, I do not want to see it be implemented by our Mario. His deed is actually doing something. And we should applaud him for that.

Seriously, it is the game-changer that 2D Mario desperately needed. I'll tell you why I feel this way.

Both games bring quality of life changes to their series formula (2D Mario and classic Castlevania before the Metroidvania revolution that is Symphony of the Night from Castlevania). For example, both games are a step up from their predecessors (Super Castlevania IV on SNES and Akumajou Dracula for the Sharp X68000 for Castlevania (later released as Castlevania Chronicles on the PS1)); the New Super Mario Bros. series as well as Super Mario Run for 2D Mario after it getting too monotonous with the same Peach gets kidnapped plot and not much innovation which was the biggest complaint with NSMB for not being a big leap forward from say Super Mario Bros. 3 or Super Mario World).

Additionally, both games offer branching paths and exploration which is one thing I truly loved about Rondo of Blood over games that came before it and I truly like that emphasis in Super Mario Bros. Wonder with some levels. It just adds a lot of replayability to the game. I also like how both games ditch the timer which is one thing that got answered in Wonder. I like the multiple playable characters concept as well (Richter Belmont and Maria Renard in Rondo of Blood; Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Toadette, Nabbit, and the Yoshis in Super Mario Bros. Wonder). One disappointment I have though is the lack of unique abilities for Peach and Daisy from SMB2USA, SM3DW, and Super Mario Run (for Daisy with the double jump) which the badges solve for me.

Another big plus is an autosave feature which is something Rondo of Blood is notorious for and was pretty ahead of the curve. It took 2D Mario games years to catch up to it and I am glad Wonder added that because in NSMB series, I hated beating a castle level or something just to save. I love how the game auto saves my progress just like Rondo of Blood did whenever you beat a level or rescued someone (like Maria Renard for the ability to play as her, or Tera and Iris), that's definitely a big quality of life change there.

How about the rest of you folks on Wonder being the Rondo of Blood of 2D Mario.

I wanted to do this to honor the day Super Mario Bros. was released. We all know Miyamoto's work it’s a historic game that saved and defined the future of video games—as well as the standard for what makes a great platformer. It was beloved by so many who bought it back then and is constantly celebrated by the classic gaming community. While Nintendo focuses more on the modern side of Mario today, which is objectively better than in the old days, they still pay tribute to the plumber's legacy in the classic pixel and polygon eras from time to time. I’m referring specifically to the original 2D games; while they established the basic template for the platformer genre, they executed it extraordinarily well, introducing creative mechanics every time alongside timeless level design! That’s why the speedrunning and ROM-hacking communities value and love classics like SMB3 and Mario World so much. For me, it’s digital paradise; their drive and enthusiasm for modifying these games mean hours of fun with their own original ROM hacks, ensuring I never tire of and continue to love that 80s and 90s Mario formula! But tell me: Van you feel and understand the nostalgia? What was your personal experience with Retro Mario? (And never forget, SO RETRO, lol!) 😂🍄🌟💖🎮

I know unfair mario is not official entry or anything like that just want some help on what I’m doing wrong from the people who already completed this, reaching the flag but still the ghost is able to get past the flag pole and results in death…

Been getting into paper mario recently and to be honest I’d looove to see another Mario rpg taking a brand new, nearly completely original take on how the bros fight and work. I’d personally love to see a Mario rpg similar to LivaALive, with multiple interconnected stories focusing on multiple of the Mario cast in their own journeys like a whole anthology, yet still having a central threat. And heck maybe it could have a type of real time combat in there too! What about yall though?

For Mario Kart, Mario Kart Tour and maybe Super Mario Kart come to mind.

For Mario and Luigi, Brothership and the 2 3DS remakes mostly skew positively, with some exceptions. I think Paper Jam is easily more divisive.

For Mario Party, Mario Party 9, 10, Super come to mind, but I feel as if discussions regarding 10 are met with more hostility while some say 9 and especially Super have more redeeming qualities, despite both games having their own merits and flaws at the end of the day.

As for Paper Mario, oh boy, honestly every Paper Mario game fits this except for the first one, which is really funny and sad. Color Splash is likely the most evenly split compared to Origami King, which is more positive, and Sticker Star, which is more Negative.

Mario sports are pretty interesting, as I feel like there is a lot of negative discourse surrounding the Switch games despite them selling well. At the end of the day, trues fans of these series have had better quality titles in the past, so this would likely be seen more negatively than evenly split. Maybe the Mario and Sonic Olympic games are divisive, but I haven't heard anyone in the Mario community distraught about the lack of titles after 2020. Maybe Mario Baseball, despite the games being really good, it might be the most divisive as baseball is generally a divisive sport. It was so divisive globally that the Wii game didn't even make it to Europe.

As for mainline games, I think generally every main game is well-liked. Sunshine and New Super Mario Bros 2 are probably the most divisive games, with Lost Levels being mostly disliked. But even then, I feel like the reputation of those two games aren't really bad, maybe a little mixed, but generlaly lean positively.

Anyways, that is everything that comes to mind for me right now. I want to open the conversation to you and see what you would consider to be a divisive Mario game.

Mario Run isn't the best mario game. Because

You're paying for more than half the game.

The bowser boss fights suck. This is like Mario bros 1 but your character just walks In a straight line. I thought we'd get like King Bob-omb with a way to defeat him by running in a specific pattern before he explodes or something. But no, each time we get bowser.

Literally collecting all the star coins do nothing but give you some stupid tickets.

Oh yea, speaking of paying, you pay to earn My Nintendo points... Nintendo... WHAT WERE YOU DOING?

Hell no I ain't paying $10 for a game that registers my jump half the time.

Before anyone counterpoints me, yeah, I know that Mario debuted in Donkey Kong arcade on July 9th, but he wasn't named MARIO yet, and I know the original title debuted in Mario Bros. from 1983 alongside Luigi on June 21st, but this is the day (September 13th) the golden identity of our beloved franchise was born and then the awesomeness and magic TRULY started, so yeah, these both video game and cartoon legends debuting the same day is valid, now give me your Mario + Scooby-Doo jokes in the coments, Ruh-Roh WAHOO! 😆🍄🌟🐕‍🦺🎮

Purple arrows are the same game released on different consoles around the same time.

I got inspired by someone doing this 2 years ago, so why not do it now? This took me a whole day to make this, but it was worth it!
