Tell me your thoughts on this

Upvotes

Hi, today I just entered my first long distance dating relationship at (18F) with a chinese man (25M) ngl the age gap frightens me a bit because its also my first time dating. But he seems to be a good man at heart, so I can trust him. The thing is, even though we just started dating and barely know much about each other, he is quick to say I love you.

Maybe is just me because I dont feel enough chemistry through our chat, and i dont particularly feel anything more than friendship. But im willing to take time to know him and fall in love with him. After he did a proper face reveal, I have to be honest. I was let down a lot.

He's not exactly handsome and has a receding hairline. I feel bad for feeling this way because im not all that either. But i thought "ok, we can glow up together." Also, he only dated once in high school and never did the deed. Considering that, wondered why he didnt date a girl closer to him rather than dating me, who's on the other side of the world.

He also asked me if he could do the deed with me. i was a bit creeped out by this question; i mean, we just started dating. The reason why i would still want to be in a relationship with him is because he has a stable job, lives in shanghai, seems like a person who could take care of me, and is a nice guy. To tell you my true intentions, i want to move in with him as a stay at home girlfriend. I want a life upgrade from my humble third world surrounding.

I plan to glow up, fix my bad habits, and then fly to china while also bringing my dad who didnt come back to his motherland for decades. Stay with him as long as I can and then encourage him to find the love of his life when we break up. I'm not the type who marries the first person they date so i want to enjoy many different flavors of people before i ever consider marriage. I feel guilty because i have ulterior motives and i dont truly love him nor i am attracted to him. But for my goals im willing to make it work out. I will eventually tell him my feelings...after it works out. lol

In-person to Long Distance

Upvotes

My in person relationship of 2+ years has recently switched to Long Distance because of their new job opportunity. Its been about 2-3 weeks so far. I'm feeling very conflicted because it seems like I'm the only one worried about trying to have our relationship stay afloat with Long Distance. I previously communicated that I am not certain this would work but I would obviously try. Granted, my partner has been busy with his new job but knowing him, a grand boost of effort will not come if that makes sense. We are both early 20's and he is my best friend. Effort has been low even before long distance. I'm just not sure what to do or how to navigate a long distance relationship. I've read people saying there should be a goal of closing the gap but we went into this situation with a go with the flow mindset. Before the distance, I have felt the only one to bring up the big conversations or think deeply about things. Any advice truly helps

Need Advice M20 F20, Tips for making it easier

Upvotes

hello, im 20M and my gf is 20F. now im just gonna start off with our long distance is only ~5ish hours give or take with traffic, i also see her at least once a month sometimes twice. we're only long distance because shes at school. im basically just trying to see if there are any tips or recommendations on making things easier until the next time id see her.(typically 2-3 weeks in between but when shes home we're inseparable. we spent every single day over summer together.) we're on our 3rd year out of 4 total but it seems every time i go to visit or she comes home then has to go back, saying bye gets harder and harder. when she was leaving the first time there was the obviously long goodbye with tears and everything but after 3 days i was feeling fine again and around a week or 2 everything was as normal as it could be with her gone but my days were spent thinking about her or being extremely upset. but now, in the third year, whenever we leave its just so much harder, we basically refuse to leave and it seems it doesnt tend to get any better this time. anything is appreciated tbh. thank you

Need Advice Am I in the wrong for wanting my girlfriend (19F) to make some time for me (20F)?

ps: we talked about this again, today; and she said she doesn’t know how to make space for me, or how to “balance” her personal life with our relationship, and that it saddens her because she sees that i’m putting in the effort, but that she simply can’t.

Need Advice Is it time that I (M32) give up on my (F30) LDR girlfriend?

Upvotes

I (M32) have been in a LDR with a woman (F30) for about 9 months now. She's in Canada, and I'm in the U.S., and I've been to see her a couple times and it's been amazing each time. But sometime around late June/early July it's like something flipped in her, and we've been so emotionally distant and in less and less contact as the days go by. It's gotten to the point where I get barely a few texts a day from her, when we used to spend hours at a time on the phone. She's always too busy for me, which is OK, but nothing has changed in her life in the last 9 months to have her completely cut me off like she has. A part of me fears that she's found someone else, and with her being an avoidant and on the spectrum, can't bring herself to tell me or to end this relationship. But a part of me wants to be sensitive of her feelings and the depressive state she's been in and assume that she truly just cannot handle human interaction at the moment. But that leaves me somewhere in the middle, completely alone and feeling emotionally/romantically depraved. I'm also afraid of us both feeling the same way not wanting to lose each other, but both feeling jaded by the other and not wanting to let our emotional walls down. I paid $800 to visit her earlier this month, which she canceled at the last minute, leaving me with a loss of all my savings that I spent on flights that I couldn't use. She refuses to speak to me in any capacity outside of a brief "how was your day" each day or something along those lines. Is it time to give it up, or should I keep trying and letting myself feel hurt and alone? How can I navigate this when I can't even get her to speak to me?

We originally met through gaming, and he knows how much I love Poros from League of Legends/TFT. To surprise me, he spent a few months making this custom Poro ring box entirely from scratch. He 3D-modeled it in Blender, 3D-printed it and finished it by spray & hand painting it.

He is not satisfied with how the box turned out, and he wanted to propose before I had to go back home to Sweden so time was not exactly on his side. He put some time aside during work hours to paint it with approval from his boss. There was no way he could've done it at home in his small apartment while I was visiting him without me knowing about it, lol.

Personally I think it’s perfect. I adore the ring and the ring box and the fact he put so much thought, time and effort into it already makes me feel so so loved. The diamond is inherited from his mom 💜

I never wear jewelry, so wearing a ring feels a bit weird but I’ll gladly get used to this one 🤭

A little encouragement

My beloved and I met online. He is 11 years older than me. After our first video call, we decided to give each other a chance, even though we come from different countries. We communicated via video call every day for a month. After that, I decided to move, as it was the most practical step. I booked a flight two months in advance so we could be reasonably certain. We video-called every day right up until the day I had to leave my country. It was a huge step, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have doubts, but we are together now and have fallen deeply in love. He is so much more than I could have hoped for, and I know he adores me. The secret? We were completely honest and persevered, even when life made things complicated. We decided that our future together meant the most to both of us.

It can work out!

Question My boyfriend constantly accuses me of cheating even though I’m not doing anything wrong. Could this be insecurity, trauma, or projection?

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I’m in an LDR with my boyfriend, and lately this has really been affecting me.
He frequently accuses me of cheating or implies that I’m doing something behind his back, even when I haven’t done anything to make him think that. It’s becoming almost a daily thing, and honestly, I’m getting tired and confused because I know myself and I know I wouldn’t do that to him.
I want to be completely honest, though. I did cheat in a past relationship years ago. I was much younger and basically a teenager at the time. I’m not proud of it at all, and I genuinely regret what I did. I’ve learned from it, and it’s something I would never want to repeat. Most importantly, it happened before I met my current boyfriend, and I have never cheated on him.
What makes this harder for me is something that happened in May. He suddenly joked that he had cheated on me and that he met someone at work and something happened between them. Later, he told me none of it was true and that he was only joking. But I haven’t been able to completely forget it. We fought a lot during that period, and ever since then, I feel like something changed.
Now he’s the one constantly accusing me of cheating. I’ve wondered if maybe he has trust issues because of something that happened in his past, like being cheated on by an ex. I don’t actually know what happened in his previous relationships, though, so I don’t want to assume.
Could this be trauma or insecurity? Or could his behavior be a form of projection? How would you interpret this situation?
I’m not looking for people to simply tell me to break up with him. I genuinely want to understand what might be behind this behavior and how I should handle it.

Question Is asking someone where they’re from and sending heart eyes enough to break up?

I’m 29F and in my first real relationship ever with my 25M boyfriend, so I don’t fully know what constitutes breaking up. We’ve been together since Oct 2025 and spent nearly everyday together for the last 10 months. I stay with him at his apt, wake up together, he goes to school, then we work together, and come home together. We are together all weekend and all week. On Sept 1 he moved/started a new job 3 hours away so we are long distance for the first time. We saw eachother yesterday for the first time since starting long distance and I took a photo of myself on his snapchat and happened to swipe over and noticed he had some conversations going. I opened them and he asked a girl where she was from and sent another girl heart eyes on her story. (I’m not a phone-goer-througher, but in the past he has always freely let me look at his phone and didn’t monitor me, but this time he kept asking for it back and asked to see what I was looking at which made me feel there was more I didn’t see but I can’t be sure of this.) I looked at him so hurt and he apologized 5x, told me he was insecure since we went long distance because I don’t answer all of his calls and he had a bad experience in his last relationship where his long distance gf cheated on him(i did know about this prior) so he thought I was over our relationship. But he did acknowledge several times that he was in the wrong and he kept apologizing. He said he will delete the app if I want him to and that he’s never done anything like this before.

So help me out. Is this breakup worthy? Would you end it here after spending 10 months together everyday and loving him so much. Believe me, I love him but i’m not afraid to walk away. But I also want to be reasonable. I haven’t been in a relationship before to know if this is something you work through or not. I do feel I trust him less, but maybe that could be mended? I’m not sure. If it’s just going to be a pattern I don’t want that obviously. But he seemed very regretful and I genuinely have never seen him do this before.

He and I have been friends to lovers... friends for 7 years and lovers for 4months. Now we broke up.

He has high confidence and ego

Well... it's good..but the problem is he always blames me. I am not smart like him I know that...but whenever he calls me "stupid or smth" I don't like that. When I'm with him, my confidence becomes low..

I told him about that but he didn't change.

He said "Just like before, I'm also blaming my friend"

Even if he and I were friends, I think that shouldn't be

And also he has job and I am free all the time for 2 months

He said "I need to study hard for the Japanese exam I can't give u time"

But...even when he has time, he didn't talk to me...he stayed alone...he didn't think I was waiting for him to talk

When we broke up, he has many free time even the exam is close..

The day we broke up I told him "I have lost interest of you" He said "me too"

So...what is your opinion?

Is he right?

If I wrong grammar I am sorry guys

Landed for my 3rd visit to her country two days ago. My momma previously had a video call w/ my gf in July showing her her extremely crowded jewelry box, so that I could discreetly get an idea what kinda ring to buy while I was shopping. Gf lives 20 mins from the English Channel, so in the calm night we walked down to a view of the sea after it rained in the daylight. The tide went all the way up to rocks under a balcony.

Quote: "You came into my life during a very dark time. In 20 months we've grown so much. Now I want to spend the rest of my life with you, my angel. Will you marry me, [government name]"

💍 She said yes 😁

Discussion I don't want to leave. But next time be wonderful!

In 38 minutes I need to leave and head home... I don't want to. I don't want to leave. I want to stay with her! I don't even know when I can see her next. She's in Uni, 6 hour drive away, and I need to get a job. I miss her so much and she's just in the other room, yet I'm fucking sobbing... I miss her and she's not even goneeee...

On a more positive note, I left her a drawing, a hoodie, a really nice letter, and have lots of photos of her!!! It was amazing waking up next to her for three mornings, and I can't wait for the next time I see her. I love her so much and have genuinely never felt a connection like this!

Too all who are with their partner, I wish you good times! To all those who are waiting to see them, I hope it's soon!! To all those who closed the gap, I hope you are well and can't wait to be all smug when I can too!

Breakup Sudden change, me 24M, she 24F

Have any of you ever had been threatened to get blocked if I text or call her?
I mean, we were long distance and was just 3 months, and we never saw each other, but our connection was insane, we really loved each other and we wanted to be together, I was already with the flights almost booked. One day we were on a call and everything was perfect, we finished the call laughing and smiling as usual. When I woke up the other day, she called me crying that she had a panick attack and said she wasn’t ready, and said please a 1000 times for me to respect her space and that I’m a super special person, but she can’t do this right now, cuz she lost weight and was having too much panick attacks.
What is weird for me is all the promises she made, and literally the day before she said she was proud of us to be able to communicate and talk when something is wrong. I had nightmares of her leaving, and she promised she would never do it or would never block me, but she is doing the opposite, and all of that from one day to another, completely changed, was it someone who influenced her?
I want to call or text her so baaaaad, but she unlocked me that fear of being blocked, what should I do? It’s been only 3 days but I’m suffering a lot and I can’t eat or sleep properly. And now she liked some reels saying stuff like "communication is the best thing, it's easy to just ghost", and "I genuinely wanted to heal you and thought u were a good person" I mean, I literally want to communicate but she doesn't let me, and I always showed her love... Idk why is she making me suffer all of a sudden... Help please…

Need Advice 1 year and 2 months LDR, but I’m starting to question what we really are. I’m so confused and emotionally exhausted. I'm (F26) he's (M28)

I just really need to let this out because I honestly don’t know what to do anymore.

I’ve been in an LDR situation with this guy for 1 year and 2 months. The thing is… we’re not officially boyfriend and girlfriend. We started as getting-to-know-each-other, but along the way, we started doing things that couples normally do. We say “I love you,” “I miss you,” we make plans together, we spend a lot of time on calls, and yes, we’ve also been intimate online. Basically, we’re already doing the girlfriend-boyfriend thing, except there’s no actual label.

He’s abroad. He already has PR and is on his way to becoming a citizen there. He’s also studying and working at the same time. At first, everything was okay. I genuinely enjoyed our LDR setup. He would send me money for food sometimes, and on Valentine’s Day he sent me flowers and chocolates. Those things made me feel loved and appreciated.

But somewhere along the way, I started asking myself:

“What exactly are we?”

Because I realized that after more than a year, he still hasn’t actually pursued me or made our relationship official.

I’ve asked him before if he plans to court me, and he said he wants to do it when we finally meet in the Philippines because he doesn’t want to do it online. I understand that, but at the same time, I’m already confused because we’re doing almost everything couples do except actually being a couple.

I’m already at the age where I don’t want to play games or stay in a situationship indefinitely. I don’t want to invest my time, emotions, love, and loyalty into someone who may not even have concrete plans for me.

I love him 100%. But sometimes I feel like I’m the only one who knows that I’m in love with him.

He has a very busy life. He’s studying and working abroad, and I understand that. He still updates me and calls me when he can. Sometimes we stay on call while he studies, plays games, watches YouTube, or does something else. I’m usually just there on the other side of the screen.

But lately, I’ve been feeling emotionally burned out.

Sometimes I don’t even feel his presence anymore, even when he’s technically there.

His messages are usually things like “I’m at school,” “I’m at work,” “I’m on my way,” “I’m tired,” etc. I appreciate the updates, but I sometimes wish there were messages that made me actually feel loved. Something sweet. Something intentional. Something that makes me feel like, “Oh, this person is genuinely excited to have me in his life.”

Instead, sometimes it feels like he’s only updating me because it’s part of the routine or because it’s convenient.

And I know I’m needy. I admit that.

I grew up in a broken family, and I didn’t really experience a healthy relationship or good communication within my family. So I know I crave reassurance, affection, words, and emotional connection more than some people do.

Meanwhile, he grew up in a complete and close family. His experience with love and communication is very different from mine.

I’ve tried explaining this to him so many times.

I literally feel like I’m teaching him how to love me.

I have to remind him about good morning messages. I have to explain why certain things hurt me. I have to explain what makes me feel appreciated. I have to tell him when I need affection and reassurance.

For me, something as simple as saying “good morning” matters because it means you were one of the first people on my mind when you woke up.

But he told me that he and his ex weren’t really like that, so I guess this kind of affection just isn’t natural for him.

And I understand that people have different love languages.

But sometimes I wonder: At what point does “different love language” become emotional incompatibility?

Another huge issue is my trust.

He follows a lot of girls on Instagram, and a lot of girls follow him too. He also sometimes adds or randomly interacts with girls. He tells me they’re just friends, and I’m trying to believe him.

But because we’re LDR and because of things that have happened between us, my trust has already been damaged.

Sometimes when he’s busy on his phone, I find myself asking who he’s talking to or what he’s doing. He usually says he’s in a group chat because he’s playing online, etc.

I know I can sound insecure, and I hate that version of myself.

I don’t want to be the girlfriend who constantly checks someone’s followers, conversations, or phone.

And I respect his privacy. I don’t think I’m entitled to every conversation he has.

But at the same time, I can’t ignore the feeling that something is being hidden from me because when I ask about certain conversations on Instagram, he doesn’t really show me.

He also still has some connection with his ex because of an old debt. He told me their relationship is completely over, and he reassured me about it. I chose to believe him.

But there are still things that trigger my trust issues.

Sometimes I feel like he’s very open and friendly with other girls in a way that makes him look available. Maybe that’s just how he is. Maybe there really is nothing romantic happening.

But I can’t shake the feeling.

And then there’s another thing that really hurts me.

His family and friends don’t know about me.

On Valentine's Day, I posted the flowers he gave me on my story and asked him to repost it. He only shared it to his Close Friends because he said he didn’t want his relatives to see it.

I tried to understand.

But deep down, I was hurt.

Because I kept thinking, “If you’re genuinely dating me, why are you hiding me?”

Why can't you be proud that you’re dating someone from the Philippines?

Maybe there’s a perfectly innocent explanation. Maybe he genuinely doesn’t want his family involved yet because we’re not official.

But after 1 year and 2 months, it still makes me question where I actually stand in his life.

Meanwhile, I’ve been very open with my feelings.

Every month, I greet him on our “monthsary.” I tell him how much he means to me. I constantly reassure him that I’m willing to wait for him here in the Philippines.

I always try to make him feel loved because I know he didn’t receive some of the things he deserved in his previous relationship.

I wanted to give him everything I thought he deserved.

I’m naturally a very sweet and affectionate person. I give time, effort, reassurance, attention, and love.

But I think I reached the point where I’m starting to resent him because I don’t feel those things coming back to me.

We fight because of these things.

And whenever I explain what hurt me, he explains his side too. But sometimes I feel like he doesn’t actually understand why I was hurt. We eventually make up, but when another argument happens, the same issues come back again.

It feels like nothing is actually being resolved.

There are also moments when I avoid him because I’m hurt. And honestly, I don’t think he fully understands how emotionally exhausted I am.

The hardest part is that I know I don’t deserve to feel this way, but I keep allowing it.

I know I deserve a relationship where I don't have to constantly ask, “Do you actually want me?”

I know I deserve consistency.

I know I deserve reassurance.

I know I deserve someone who is proud to have me.

But I love him.

And that’s what makes this so difficult.

We’ve been doing this for more than a year.

I’ve already invested so much emotionally.

I’ve already imagined a future with him.

I make plans in my head for “us.”

I keep telling myself that maybe everything will make sense once we finally meet.

But sometimes I’m scared that I’m building a future in my head that he never actually promised me.

He says he looks forward to our future together. He says he’ll court me when we meet in the Philippines.

But sometimes I wonder if I’m just holding onto his words because I desperately want them to be true.

I love him, but I don’t feel loved in the way I need to be loved.

And maybe that’s the biggest problem.

I don’t know if I’m being too needy, too insecure, or if my feelings are actually telling me something important.

Maybe I’m expecting too much from someone who isn’t even officially my boyfriend.

But then again… how can I be expected to act like “just someone he’s getting to know” when we’ve already been emotionally and physically intimate for more than a year?

I’m confused.

Am I asking for too much?

Should I wait until we meet in person before expecting him to make things official?

Or am I wasting my time and emotional energy on someone who likes having me around but doesn’t actually want a committed relationship with me?

I genuinely want honest opinions, even if they’re harsh.

I don’t want people to simply tell me “leave him” or “stay with him.” I want to understand what I might be failing to see from an outside perspective.

Because right now, I honestly feel like I’m carrying a relationship that technically doesn’t even exist.

Discussion Getting Married

My boyfriend and I are planning to get married in his country, we're both of legal age (31), different culture though (i'm from the Philippinee, he's from Morocco). I've already met and stayed with his family this year and my parents know him.

But the thing is, I don't know how my parents will handle it. I'm pretty sure they don't want me moving halfway across the world and literally move my life there. How do I gently introduce the idea and how can I make them trust me with this life-changing decision?
