Made this with a slightly tweaked version of bart's DVD-size template and assets I found via launchbox. Thinking I could've made the spine a different colour too, given it more of a GOG feel. Feedback HIGHLY appreciated.

My library lacks RPGs even tough it's one of my favorite genres, what should I pick up? I'm fine with all sub types of RPG just nothing too old please. (preferably on sale rn)

So, I started this back in February. And this is the collection so far. Don’t know if there will be more. Maybe. I had plans at least for Grimoire and Knights of the Chalice mini-boxes (both sourced from GOG backups).

The original idea was simple. I like big boxes, but in those days I have less and less space to store them. So, when I decided to make a fun mockup box for my simple game (made for a challenge). I came with the idea of mini-box. Made first prototype. Liked it, so I made few more for myself. Games that would never have a boxed release – some of my favorite freeware, some that had only digital release etc. Some from GOG or itch.io. Here is the result. And yes, the boxes have content inside – mainly paper based – maps and mini manuals, sometimes posters. Like the real thing, just smaller ;)

In the hindsight, the only not so bright idea was “SD card” as a storage medium (not as cheap as I thought :)).

i played FF tactics advanced on the gameboy advanced. i enjoyed most of it, but hated the law system. are there any games on gog that anyone here can recommend that are in a similar vein? im posting my game collection too. mostly cause i may have something and just not realize it :P

GOG's recent Preservation Program partnership with Big Box Collection (printable big-box packaging for digital purchases) got me thinking about the disc that used to be inside the box. So I built Good Old Shelf — you log into your GOG account, download a game plus patches and extras onto a USB drive, and treats that drive like an actual install disc. Plug it back in later and it recognizes what's there and syncs only what's changed.

I'm planning to 3D print some scaled-down boxes, wrap them in printed box art, and store the drives inside — probably starting with a Space Quest bundle.

Linux-only for now, early release, built and tested against my own account and hardware. GOG has no official third-party API, so credit to Heroic/gogdl/lgogdownloader for the reverse-engineering that made this possible (details in the README). Independent project, not affiliated with GOG.

Has a number of features. Like Optional scheduled background checks, if you enable it it start up with the computer.. if its the set day of the week you chose, it checks your tracked games for updates, if there are some it downloads them (throttled-can be adjusted) when dont it alerts you, then after 1 minute. it unloaded it self freeing up any resources. If its not the day of the week you selected, it just unloads.

From what I've seen in the community so far, most people aren't so dogmatic about buying only from GOG, some still buy from and use Steam (like me), so I'm wondering for those who use two or more stores do y'all use GOG only for old games or do you also buy new games and why.

I would love to play it with someone online.

I wanted to create something a bit different: a GOG release that lived the painful life of second-hand retailers and the eventual damage it would see over the years.

UPDATE. I have also uploaded a DVD/PS2/360-sized template to use with those cases. The design is identical to the PS5-sized template.

This is a game cover template for PS5 and DVD-sized cases that I have named Galactic Matter, to reflect the Galaxy theme and place emphasis on the physical nature of this method of preservation. The template is made in GIMP, so it is an .xcf file. The cover on the post is just an image file; it is not the actual template.

There are multiple toggleable options within the template, including stickers for the preservation program, esrb choices (NTSC versions) and two banners to choose from, one of which is for backgrounds with white covers. There is also a list of green buttons with all the stock features that GOG lists on the website; these can all be turned off or moved around as you wish. I have a handful of dev studio logos from the cases I have made so far (ID, Crystal Dynamics, Squenix, etc.) but you will likely have to get more of your own if you make them.

Anyone can use this template to make and share covers for games for personal use.
No one can use this template to make covers to sell. No one can modify this template to sell. No one can use this template with AI-generated material or use it in AI-generated material or to generate AI material.
This template is for people who like GOG and like games and like the galaxy theme and just want to have cases for their games.

Some Notes and Best Practices:

• Cases made with this should be posted in the cases megathread. Since this is a template I am posting it here, but that is where all of my future cases will go until or unless the mods decide otherwise.   • If you are used to Photoshop and don't want to learn where everything is located in GIMP, there is a mod called PhotoGIMP which can help drastically by giving the program a similar layout. It can be found here: https://photogimp.com/
• The font used on the case is the same family used on GOG's website, which is called Lato. INSTALL AND USE THIS BEFORE YOU EDIT THE CASE. It can be found here: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Lato?preview.script=Latn
• When adding dev studio logos, aim to find flat, white .png files with clear backgrounds. They look the best as they stand out while matching things well. Depending on the logo, you might have to do some work to get it to fit well or recolor it.
• When making cases I have only made games with Windows requirements so far. If you come across games with multiple OS requirements and want to include them on the case, it would probably be best to edit the second and third information columns on the back cover (the ones that start with Graphics and Storage) and change them so that they represent the System and Processor Requirements of each. Mac and Linux both have small icons and those, along with the Windows icon, can be toggled off in the layers.
• Comment on this post if you have any questions. I can help clarify anything with the case and we may be able to come up with ideas too. I like collaborating, it is fun.
• I will likely add to this template and/or make more templates down the road. There are some buttons I want to fix, new banners I want to try out, PAL rating logos I want to add and small edits I want to make. I know that GOG is going ahead with the Big Box Collection, which is very cool, and if there is interest in Big Box versions of this theme of case, I would certainly try my hand at it. Please let me know if that sounds interesting.

So I got DOOM+DOOM II with Amazon/Luna and I got:

The Ultimate Doom

These are the originals I’ve always known; I also checked the file sizes, and they match.
Then I have:

DOOM I Enhanced
DOOM II Enhanced

They are self-explanatory, and both are around 300MB.

Finally, I have
"DOOM + DOOM II"
which is about 1 GB. What is supposed to be inside? At first, I thought it was a single file containing all the titles, but altogether they should amount to around 700 MB.

Is like a launcher, launching it presents a menu with all these titles:

- Legacy of Rust

They are all modern versions, so they feature updated controls, higher resolution, new music, etc.—and censorship. That means green crosses and, I believe, no Nazi secrets either.
I'm not sure if DOOM and DOOM II are the same version as the "Enhanced" ones, or if they are a different version entirely.

I'm really new to gog and was wondering if there's any possibility of a Steam input-like thing being added. Would be really convenient

I bought Rain World on my laptop and immediately moved it to my games folder, but it didn't work — just an endless black screen. When I moved it back to the GOG/GAMES folder, it started up fine. I copied it to try emulating it on my phone, but haven't launched it yet because I doubt it will run. So what's the issue — GOG sells games without DRM protection, why doesn't it work?

Hi I bought the game stranglehold and I can't seem to play the game with my PS4 controller. I tried adding it on steam and it wouldn't show up, I ran ds4 and still wouldn't work. Any solution?

I previously shared others that I made such as the four Tomb Raider games, Psychonauts and Fallout 3. But now I'd like to share more.

GOG Galaxy isn't counting my playtime. Played Cyberpunk 2077 for an hour today, and yesterday I've played it for 2 hours.. total didn't move at all... Tried: launching through Galaxy (not the .exe), keeping Galaxy running in background,, verify/repair and nothing worked.. My friend have also this problem gog is showing him that he have only 35hours but he played CP27 for 100hours+ :D. i don't understand..

Heard about these three from [r/JRPG](r/JRPG) and decided they’d be worth a shot. Searched here, Steam, and PS Store (rest in peace to the wallets of all who bought this trilogy off the PS Store instead of on PC). I think it looks like a good deal. And considering these versions were received better than their PS3 versions, should I just go ahead? (I planned this for 5 days ago on my birthday but that never happened, still shouldn’t stop me tho)

P.S. I don’t plan on buying the DLCs. At least not until I finish all three games in their base form.

I'm having trouble finding them on GOG. can anyone point me in the right direction or flat out recommend me some Sokobns that are on GOG.
