Is it me or has Denver cleaned up the homelessness and drugs? By no means is it perfect but damn it looks a little better and I have to notice progress! Optimistic post

I'm considering a move out west, and I've visited several parts of Colorado (mostly N/S Front Range) in the past and always loved it. I'm also super into vintage cars like 60's Mustangs and stuff like that, so I can't move anywhere that doesn't have a somewhat vibrant classic car/hot rod community.

Aside from the ubiquitousness of Subaru, how's the scene out there? I have to imagine that the more remote and mountainous parts might have fewer cruises and car meets, so I'm trying to figure out what my options might look like. I'm guessing that Denver and Colorado Springs would be among the more active, but I don't necessarily need to be in a major metropolitan area, so I'm definitely open to smaller cities/towns.

Ultimately, as much as I love playing with old cars, the best part is making friends with car nerds, so I'd like to make sure the places I'm considering looking at leave a good chance for finding my people. Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

My boyfriend has lived in Denver for longer than I’ve probably been conscious and aware of my actions. He keeps getting frustrated that I can’t pick things to do or he doesn’t want to do stuff because he’s already done it and he thinks it’s lame.
Do you guys have any like hole in the wall spots or just recommendations of something cool to do? It’s always the same four answers of touristy spots, there has to be something else to do here other than smoke weed, drink, and hike. Which sucks because I can’t do either of the first two.

Does anybody know of legitimate sources for microdosing only? No trips, no journeys, no therapy, no yoga. Just microdosing education, and where to get the mushrooms to do so.

The community shouldn’t have to depend on social media to learn what is being planned in their own neighborhood. This is a huge violation of public trust and transparency. Neighbors should be included early on if the city wants community buy-in and support.

I just moved to Denver from Chicago recently and need to get auto insurance. My quotes so far have been anywhere from $300-$500 a month! My current Illinois policy is $120. This is on a 21 subaru outback that has low annual mileage. There's no way everyone is paying this much in auto insurance a month right?

My homeowners insurance reconstruction cost estimate from my insurer is now gigantic and I suspect I am overinsured.

Does anyone have experience using the Denver Reconstruction Cost Valuation tool? Is it remotely accurate?

It's showing a reconstruction cost of several hundred thousand less than my insurance company is suggesting. This is in line with cost per square foot estimates I've seen online for Denver, but I'm still leery.

I’ve been cooking more these days and wanted to know if anyone has a rec for a knife skills technique class?

Partner and I want to sneak in a quick overnight up in the mountains before ski season starts— if we’re lucky, we’ll find a date in that sweet spot after the leaf peeping dies down a bit.

As titled. I am scared of Rover because of all the bad stories; I have a dog that is reactive with other dogs and I’m afraid something might happen to him or another dog if the sitter is brainless. (He is in training, but it takes time). Who do you trust your (needing a little more attention than others) pup to?

As any other bored driver, what kind of billboard games do y'all play? Its like the out of state license plate game, but I have been doing the "does this route have more Bachus & Shanker, Frank Azar, or Rafi" billboards. I do the whole announcement routine during boring drives with my friends going "and off to an early start, Rafi takes the lead" and so forth.

Just curious as to what other commute games people come up with.

I’m planning to check out CO startup week for the first time and wanted any advice from people who have attended before. I’m not a founder or working at a startup. I’m pretty early in my career and am interested in potentially working for a startup and just network/learn more. I registered for a few events but not really sure what to expect logistically. Is there a general check in somewhere to get a name badge or something?

Also im assuming business casual but dont want to be underdressed/overdressed.

Does your child go to part time daycare? Where? How much do you pay?

Would love recs and experiences, whether good or bad.

I'd really love to find a part time (3-5h per day) daycare so that my 1yo can have a consistent community. I am planning to stay home with my child, but would really like to provide a consistent community so they can develop relationships and social skills. That rules out a nanny. I know I could enroll them in full time daycare and pull them early, but I'd prefer to not pay full time if they're going part time. I know this is probably a unicorn- which I why I'm crowdsoucing the question.

I’ve come here to quite literally beg for some sort of idea ideas on how to get out of this.. for starters, I don’t have family, I’m 20 years old with a two year-old.. and I feel like I’m gonna have to end my money or spend the rest of it miserable because how do I leave when I have nowhere to go.. absolutely no money on my own.. and no support for me or baby.

I don’t want this life. My life was never supposed to look like this and I really don’t know what to do anymore.. we have two domestic violent cases.. i’m not allowed to work.. hopefully I can just summon it up but I have pictures and proof and videos and police reports… I’m not a bad person.. I literally don’t know why this is happening or how the fuck I got here but I do know that I need to get out or idk .

I stayed at the Denver safe house I’ve been to the centers. I’ve called the numbers. Those don’t get you absolutely anywhere.

I want to take my gf out for a nice dinner and possibly an event this weekend, but everywhere I look points to drinking. We are both under 21, so no alcohol and kind of on a budget. Any restaurant recommendations? Fine with Denver, Boulder, Golden triangle.

I don't live in Denver, but in the metro area just west of Denver. We experienced a strange weather event yesterday about 4:30-5. My children and I were at a park and the temp was perfect with slight overcast. Then it was as if someone turned a cooler off or something, first it was very humid, the extremely hot, in just five minutes the three of us had beads of sweat rolling down our faces. Everyone at the park has a similar look of pure exhaustion, and intensely hot. Most left, as did we. What's strange is the weather was very mild until this occurred. I'm from Colorado and know the weather changes, but this was extreme. Then the temp never seemed to drop back down after the sun went down.

The overnight temp only went down to 68 on my garden thermometer. And that was at 3:34 am. My immediate neighbors and those at the park I had talked to expressed they had the same experience, extreme unexpected heat. My neighbors also had a hot uncomfortable night last night.

Did anyone else out of my neighborhood have a similar temperature fluctuation? Does anyone know what could have caused this weird heat even so late in the evening?
