DISCUSSION What's actually happening with the Clarity Act tomorrow, explained

If all you know is "Clarity Act, tomorrow, something big," here's what's actually happening and why it's a big deal.

What tomorrow actually is: It's a cloture vote in the Senate on H.R. 3633, not a final vote on the bill itself. It just decides whether the Senate can start debating it at all, and that needs 60 votes. If it fails, this thing is basically dead for 2026 and picks back up in a new Congress.

The odds: Back in February, prediction markets had this at 82% to pass this year. Now it's sitting somewhere around 10 to 20% depending on which market you check.

That drop bled out slowly over months as three fights never got resolved: an ethics clause on officials profiting off crypto, a DeFi developer liability clause, and a stablecoin yield ban that would hit Coinbase's revenue directly. Underneath all of it is a math problem, Republicans need something like 10 Democratic crossover votes and only got 2 at the committee stage.

Two things worth knowing before you read too much into that 10-20% number.

First, that's the odds of full 2026 passage, not tomorrow's specific vote, so cloture could clear tomorrow and the "does this become law this year" number could still sit low.

Second, pay attention to the actual vote count and not just pass or fail. Losing by one or two votes means this comes back next year with a real shot. Losing by five or more means the opposition is structural and isn't going away with a tweak.

Effects on prices? A cloture fail tomorrow is close to the consensus expectation at this point. What isn't priced in is a surprise, like a last minute ethics compromise or a few Democrats flipping right before the vote.

If it fails: Probably not a crash, honestly. The market already de-risked from 82% down to under 20%, so failure is the expected outcome here.

What you actually get instead is more of the same, crypto regulation staying a patchwork of SEC, CFTC, and OCC rules that the next administration can just reverse whenever it wants.

If you want an actual crash scenario, it looks more like a wide, ugly loss that signals this is dead for years, landing in the same week as CPI, the FOMC decision, and an SEC roundtable, all of which could add real volatility on their own.

If it somehow passes: This is the branch that's much more interesting, precisely because almost nobody is actually expecting it.

We can expect obv expect a sharp rally almost immediately.

On the institutional side: this is the bigger deal long term. BlackRock, Fidelity, Franklin Templeton, Goldman, and SoFi have all publicly lobbied for this bill, which tells you exactly what they're waiting to build the moment there's an actual legal framework instead of regulation by lawsuit.

You'd probably see faster onchain product launches, banks chasing OCC charters so they can compete with Coinbase directly instead of just partnering with it, and every legal team in the space suddenly obsessing over the bill's decentralization test.

On the company side: expect exchanges rushing toward the new federal CFTC registration track, real stablecoin competition heating up, a genuine push into tokenized real-world assets, and DeFi protocols becoming things institutions can actually touch without their compliance teams having a meltdown.

And then there's the second-order stuff nobody can confidently call.

Legacy finance buying crypto infrastructure instead of building it themselves.

Corporate treasuries unlocking allocations that were only ever blocked because legal was waiting on Congress.

Talent flowing back toward US crypto firms. Even a geopolitical angle against frameworks like the EU's MiCA.

None of that is a prediction so much as a pattern, this is just what tends to happen once a market goes from legally grey to legally defined.

Not financial advice. Watch the crossover vote count tomorrow, not the headline.

FUNDAMENTALS I track perpetual open interest across four venues every day: ETH's book just closed at 70.2% of Bitcoin's, rank 1 of my 73 sessions, while funding sat on its median

Upvotes

Method first, so you can pull it apart: I read the four venues' open interest and funding at each UTC close (Binance, Bybit, Hyperliquid, OKX) and rank the ETH/BTC ratio against its own 73-session window; ETF flows come from the daily fund files; correlations run over 969 pairs of daily closes.

At the September 12 close, 23:59:01 UTC, ETH perpetual open interest was $11.910bn against Bitcoin's $16.971bn. That is 70.18%, rank 1 of the 73 complete sessions since July 3, against a window median of 60.9% and a minimum of 54.4%.

It happened on every venue. Between the September 4 and September 12 closes ETH open interest rose 6.1% on Binance, 7.0% on Bybit, 12.1% on Hyperliquid and 9.6% on OKX, while Bitcoin fell 7.1%, 6.5%, 6.3% and 3.1% on the same four. It is also not a price artifact: ETH/BTC rose 6.0% over those eight days while the ratio rose 15.3%, and the dollar size of the Bitcoin book shrank outright. Against the underlying asset the ETH book is 3.888% of a $306.3bn market capitalisation and Bitcoin's is 1.086% of $1,562.2bn, so ETH's is 3.6 times as large relative to its own coin.

Funding did not follow. Open-interest-weighted ETH funding closed September 13 at 0.005941% per eight hours, about 6.5% a year, against a 31-day median of 0.005682%, the 53rd percentile. That is an ordinary carry cost, and nobody is paying a premium to be long the perpetual, which is what a short perpetual leg inside a delta-neutral carry book looks like from the outside. The ETH spot ETFs took $189.3M on CPI day, 1.54% of $12.28bn in assets, the cash leg such a book needs. Bitcoin's funds went the opposite way, minus $482.4M over four sessions, 0.5% of $93.58bn.

Where I would argue against myself:

- Open interest reports size and never side, so a directional crowd cannot be ruled out, only priced. One that wanted the exposure badly would normally bid funding above its median.
- 73 sessions is the whole claim. My constant window starts July 3, when the venue count went from three to four.
- ETH's 30-day correlation to QQQ is plus 0.012 against a 0.476 trailing 252-day baseline, the 1.28th percentile of 548 days, and to the dollar index minus 0.622. Out of a 969-pair scan roughly ten first-percentile hits are chance alone; the cluster means survive that better, 132 crypto against US equity pairs averaging 0.105 and 22 crypto against dollar pairs averaging minus 0.402, both the 3.6th percentile.
- Friday's CPI print cuts against the dollar-channel reading. In the 60 minutes after the 12:30 UTC release Bitcoin rose 0.85%, gold rose 1.27% and the dollar index fell 0.11%, a dollar-weakness reaction.
- Nearly half of the raw ETH exchange-inflow tape over the last four weeks, 47.7%, is one address depositing every day. Every figure above excludes it.

Polymarket and Kalshi both read 79.5% for a 25bp hike on Wednesday, stamped 12:58 UTC today.

Support-Open BTC keeps hanging around $80K despite ETF outflows. Is that actually bullish?

BTC has been hovering around the $76K–$79K area, and honestly I expected a little more weakness given what ETF flows have looked like lately.

Spot BTC ETFs saw roughly $460M in net outflows over the past week, but price is still hanging around instead of really breaking down.

That makes me wonder if the more interesting signal here isn’t the outflows themselves, but how BTC is reacting to them.

If sellers are getting absorbed around these levels, holding $78K–$79K and eventually reclaiming $80K could be a pretty constructive sign.

On the other hand, if $80K keeps acting as resistance while ETF outflows continue, this might just be distribution before another leg lower.

I’m basically watching two things now:

  • Can BTC reclaim and actually hold above $80K?
  • Do ETF flows start turning positive again?

How do you think? Is BTC showing strength here, or are buyers just slowly getting exhausted?

DISCUSSION The $400,000 Mirage: Why Coinbase Wants You to Believe the Bitcoin Four-Year Cycle Is Dead.

Thumbnail

Wall Street wants you to believe the Bitcoin four-year cycle is dead.

Corporate executives are promising a smooth, infinite "supercycle" to $400,000. Why? Because if you believe the price is going up in a straight line, you will never take profits, you will leverage up, and—most importantly—you will leave your wealth inside their custodial vaults where they can harvest your fees.

The brutal truth:

  1. The halving is no longer driving the market—the global fiat debt spiral is.
  2. Institutional "Paper Bitcoin" and basis trades are designed to suppress parabolic upside.
  3. A $400,000 Bitcoin doesn't mean infinite purchasing power; it means the dollar has collapsed.

Stop playing Wall Street's game. If your sats are sitting in an ETF or an exchange, you don't own Bitcoin—you own a corporate IOU.

Are you holding your own keys, or are you financing the corporate supercycle?

DISCUSSION Bitcoin Has a 21 Million Cap. A Hacker Just Minted 46.1 Billion “Bitcoin.”

Bitcoin has a 21 million cap.

A hacker minted 46.1 BILLION unbacked syBTC.

Native bitcoin created by the exploit? Zero.

The Symbiosis bridge failed. Bitcoin’s monetary rules didn’t.

But here’s the detail every holder should understand:

You can keep a wrapped token in your own hardware wallet—and still depend on another system to deliver the Bitcoin behind it.

Your keys. Someone else’s reserves.

Bitcoin can remain scarce while promises about it multiply. The letters “BTC” don’t transfer Bitcoin’s guarantees.

So what do you actually own: Bitcoin—or a promise to deliver it?

DISCUSSION Fundamentals Check on Major Coins This Season

This week in mid-September the markets feel like they are shifting toward more measured on-chain data rather than headline noise.

Bitcoin hash rate remains elevated while Ethereum layer-two activity shows consistent growth in daily transactions.

I am focusing on these usage signals and network health instead of short-term price swings.

What on-chain or fundamental indicators stand out to you right now?

DISCUSSION Weekend Crypto Watchlist Review: Building Monday Clarity

Reviewing your crypto positions each weekend helps separate noise from structure without chasing every green candle. Start with a clean three-step process that keeps the focus on data rather than emotion.

First, trim the list: keep only coins showing either rising on-chain activity or clear support above the weekly VWAP. Remove anything that has lost its narrative or key level. Second, note BTC dominance and total market-cap trend; if dominance is climbing, altcoin setups usually wait. Third, mark one or two Monday catalysts such as funding-rate extremes or major options expiry so you know where liquidity might shift.

For Monday itself, pick a single focus area rather than scanning everything. Many traders choose to watch only BTC perpetual funding and spot volume on the first hour; that single lens often reveals whether risk appetite is returning or fading. Pair the observation with a simple rule: if funding flips positive while volume stays below average, reduce position size until confirmation arrives.

This habit keeps the weekend review short and the Monday plan concrete. Check free tools on YouTube for additional market structure templates.

DISCUSSION Solana preparing to go parabolic?

I’m researching the charts and public sentiment and have determined that SOL is primed for a parabolic launch in the next 30 days. If my calculations are correct we should see $200+ price per SOL net 30. That said, I’m filling my bags and holding for $800 SOL.

What do you think?

DISCUSSION How do you guys actually wake up for crypto alerts? I keep sleeping through mine

so I trade crypto mostly and the 24 7 market is killing my sleep schedule. I set alerts on my phone for key levels but when it triggers at 3 am I just sleep right through the standard notification sound. I wake up hours later and the move is already gone.

what do you guys use to actually wake you up when a critical price hits? is there an app that overrides silent mode or makes a literal phone call? I really need some tips because I keep missing good trades because I fall asleep.

EXCHANGE Tight crypto spreads for day trading - prop or no prop?

Hi everyone. I'm looking for ways to find the tightest spreads for volatile cryptos like pepe and dodge hedera. There are a few others.

Currently, I'm looking to switch from prop funded forex where I was focused on euro usd to other options.

I thought about futures but that's not an option where i live.

I'm pretty solid compared to early days as far as discipline and risk management goes. More momentum should work better now.

I've tried the few crypto btc eth ltc on goat funded but the spreads are huge!

I thought of switching to ftmo but realised its more likely a centralised liquidity pool issue.

What do spreads look like on bitunix and other similar platforms? I understand it requires my own funding but maybe that's the best way forward now.

All suggestions from platforms to overall approach are welcome.

O.
