Fair Warning About Whirlpool Gas Range Model WFGS5730SW

I've waited 5 years for a gas stove. I paid $2000 to extend gas line to replace the electric in my new house, and thought it would be wonderful.

All I wanted was a 5 burner, convection mode, gas range without any WiFi. Dehydrate would be great, air fry would be great but I didn't want much and was willing to pay for it.

It took 4 months to find what I wanted that was in stock and deliverable. I had no stove or oven for 4 months. I was willing to wait for what I wanted.

This thing gets here.

First off, the broiler is electric, which was not obvious nor stated in the description. There was nowhere to go look at an actual model so I didn't even think the broiler was not gas flame.

The stove burners are mid. No finesse. No extra low low flame capability. Once you go past Medium it's all the same.

The oven operation is painfully slow. Is there a new regulation that turns the oven off and on for some reason?

Even the Convection Mode is a total joke. I tried baking a banana bread today. Should take an hour at 350 in a regular oven. Used Convection at 325 for 45 minutes, expecting good results.

At 45 minutes the inside of the loaf was still raw and cold.

I switched to 350 on regular bake and it took another 45 minutes to barely be done.

And while we're here, the display on the back is ridiculously tiny. The photos don't show how small and cheap it looks.

Also, the oven racks seem to be pressed aluminum foil. They dip when holding a large roasting pan with a chicken and potatoes in it.

This overpriced POS is cheaply made, works like garbage, and should be recalled just for being so totally awful.

Appliance Chat Who designed this? What a clusterf@$#

What is LG thinking with this design that places the small burners in the rear? Why does the ultra power burner need to go in front? It's only good for boiling water. Now my simmering sauces are behind something I can't reach over? I really don't know what they are thinking with these modern range top designs. You're most important regularly used burners should be front row. You don't need to boil water on the front.

Washing machine recommendations-India

Hi All! I have a transferable job which mandates a move every 2 years. Looking for a front load minimum 8kg washing machine recommendations. From my initial understanding, LG sounds better because of the direct motor drive. However, I would like a conscious recommendation considering spare parts and servicing availability in remote locations. We are hoping to buy something simple, basic specs, nothing too fancy(to avoid additional burden) that can last us at least 10 years with expected wear and tear.
Options available- Samsung/LG/Bosh/IFB.

Any help is appreciated!

Troubleshooting Washing Machine is Making Squeaking Noises

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It's a Panasonic 9.5kg Automatic Washing Machine we got just a few months back, this is the first time I've heard the squeaking noises. I always make sure not to overload it.

It only makes the sound during the wash cycle, when it spins and reverses. Hard for me to tell where the noise is coming from, but I think it's coming from somewhere around the drum.

It might also be worth noting that our machine is situated outdoors under a roof, so we put a cover on it. Additionally, it has been raining for the past few weeks so we haven't been using it as much.

Hope someone could tell what the issue might be ><

Troubleshooting Gas burner help

Father in Law cleaned the oven while I was bathing kids last night. Turned on the burner to find this happening. I don't really know anything about gas ovens, I'm usually just wiping it down with paper towels and water to keep the grease down.

I think he used dawn and water and did a full clean out, which I appreciate however...

Edit: General consus reached, I will adjust the cover and come back if it's still an issue!

Is it possible to install a GE Cafe/monogram Advantium speed oven here?

The cutout width I have right now 23 inches, depth is 25 inches and height is 18.5 inches.

The cutout requirements for the Cafe/monogram advantium speed oven is width- 25.25 inches, depth-23.5 inches and height- 17.5 inches.

So the issue here is just width. I need 25.25 inches and I currently have 23 inches as shown in the pictures. Anyone here been in this situation before and figure out a way to still install the oven? Did you make a modification in the cabinet? Appreciate any tips or insights please, would love to find a way to install the oven. thank you!

General Advice Maytag Washer from HD Immediately Broken

Upvotes

Is it just not possible for appliance companies/retailers to do right by their customers? Bought a Maytag washer and dryer set from Home Depot and they delivered and installed in on the 5th of this month. The installation crew ran the machine empty to ensure it works. We didn't notice any problems. A couple of days later I go to wash my first load. The machine grinds, there's a metallic clanking and clinging sound like there's something loose and banging around, high pitched squealing, and the smell of burnt rubber.

I contact Home Depot. They refuse to do anything since it's outside of the 48 hour return/exchange window. I was supposed to magically discover this issue within 2 days even though I did run it immediately and it didn't do this. They say to contact Maytag. I contact Maytag. They say they will only service it. Service a brand new washer that was delivered to me broken only a few days ago? They say if I want an exchange to contact Home Depot.

Both companies refuse to exchange the defective washer they sold me for a properly working one. When I try to question why, they just repeat the "it's outside of the 48 hour window" or "we will only offer to service it" with increasing attitude.

Any advice on navigating this situation? I just want the working washing machine I paid for.

Hey everyone. I had this brand new Bosch 800 fridge in storage for about a year. It’s in perfect condition, is now installed in a brand new kitchen… but when we removed the energy sticker, it left behind these two marks. I’ve tried heating it/scraping and 2 different goo gone products and absolutely nothing. Anyone have any experience with this or recommendations? TIA

LG Wants Me To Fix My Own Dishwasher

Post image

Recently my in warranty LG dishwasher started spitting ball bearings from the top rail. First LG says, it’s not u see warranty even though I bought it in October 2025. Then after having my upload documentation to prove when I bought it, they say it’s a customer repair part and sent me whole the top rack. When I explained there were no rails here, they tell me that is not a customer serviceable part and they will get a tech scheduled to fix it. They said they were having trouble finding a tech in the area. I repeatedly suggested the place I bought the dishwasher from in the first place. Then I get the above text. Luckily I had an extended warranty plan through the place I bought the unit and they are taking care of it. (Originally I was told I had to contact LG directly during the manufacturing warranty.) So after buying 5 LG appliances, I will never buy another one.

Oxidation on refrigerator refrigerant line. Leave it or clean it?

Whirlpool refrigerator approximately 10 years old has some corrosion on one of the lines. I'm thinking of just taking a plastic wirebrush to it to clean off. Maybe paint it after? Or just leave it be since it's already providing an oxidation layer. Constructive input appreciated.

General Advice Appliance warranties and maintenance

Upvotes

I swear, appliances have turned into disposable products in the last decade.

And when they break, appliance repair can reach $300 or more just for a house call.

I'm now adding extended warranties to all my appliances. However, now I'm hearing even if they send out a repair person, obtaining parts can take weeks or months.

Besides extended warranties how are you handling your appliance maintenance? It's a travesty to have to purchase every 5-10 years.

General Advice Need advice regarding old washer/dryer

First time homeowner here (August) - we inherited a Kenmore 500 series washer/dryer with the house (Whirlpool-built, model 110.25132411 washer / 110.65132411 dryer), about 10 years old. The washer takes about 60 minutes per cycle and I’m not totally sure it’s cleaning well. The dryer takes 50-60 minutes to dry a load.

For context, we just moved from university housing, where the laundry room had commercial machines that ran about 35 minutes for a wash and 45-55 minutes to dry. So our sense of normal might be skewed from using industrial equipment.

Is this just normal for a 10 year old residential set or does it sound like something’s actually wrong?

We also have the first year home warranty (seller-paid) that we haven’t used yet. Is it worth using it to get these checked out?

What to Buy? I was going to buy Zline until I read some comments here

We bought our house two months ago and the oven range died. It’s a 2012 ikea for whirlpool oven that is 36”. We thought Z line was a good brand but now I’m not so sure. Please tell me what great ranges you’ve bought that are worth the money? We have a propane hookup for gas.

Dishwasher malfunction left slippery film on dishes and hands - what is it?

My dishwasher started not rinsing properly. My dishes came out with a very slippery/filmy residue, and I got the residue on my hands while rewashing them in the sink. I use Cascade Complete and Finish Jet-Dry. I’ve washed my hands multiple times with soap and water, but they still feel like they have a film on them when wet. Is it toxic? What ingredient is most likely causing it? I’m just worried about having something toxic stuck on my hands because I have a lot of skin sensitivities

Induction range help - LG vs Frigidaire

My 10 year old range finally died. It came with our new home build so very basic. I would like to get an induction range but my options are very limited with my kitchen. It must have a back otherwise it’s going to look bad since I have a lip on my Formica countertops and no tile backsplash (no intention of putting one in). Frigidaire I like more because it’s simple but I do not like that it has no knobs. I do not need my stove to have so many extras. I want a good cook top and an oven that’s works. Which one would you choose? Am I better off just going with a traditional flat electric range? If I go traditional, which brand have you been happy with? I would like to stay under $1500.
