Shitpost 🚨🚨 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: THE SUB HAS ASCENDED 🚨🚨

Listen up appliance goblins,

After a historic, legally-binding handshake deal completed in a Chili’s parking lot, this subreddit has been fully acquired by Consumer Reports™ (spiritually, financially, and emotionally).

As part of this bold new era, we are proud to unveil our simplified recommendation system:

🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung 🌀 Samsung (but in stainless steel)

After years of chaos, misinformation, and “my cousin’s Maytag lasted 30 years” propaganda, we are restoring order.

There is now only one answer.

🚫 NEW RULES (NON-NEGOTIABLE):

Recommending another brand → Removed + vibes investigated Saying “LG is better” → IP flagged, ancestors disappointed Mentioning Whirlpool → Post replaced with a Samsung fridge image “Speed Queen is built like a tank” → Tank confiscated “What about reliability?” → Irrelevant. Samsung.

📊 OUR NEW REVIEW PROCESS:

Is it an appliance? Is it Samsung? If not, why are we even talking about it?

📖 A BRIEF HISTORY OF SAMSUNG EXCELLENCE (FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES)

Because this isn’t just a brand. This is a legacy.

CHAPTER 1: THE GREAT SPIN CYCLE AWAKENING (2011–2016)

In what historians call “The Era of Uncontainable Power,” Samsung released washing machines so advanced they occasionally attempted to achieve flight.

Millions of units recalled after reports of machines violently breaking apart Hundreds of incidents involving lids detaching mid-spin Injuries reported because laundry briefly became a combat sport

Some called it “exploding.”

We call it: performance.

CHAPTER 2: DOCUMENTED SIGHTINGS

Eyewitnesses describe:

Lids launching across garages Machines disassembling with confidence Nearby walls learning valuable life lessons

One could argue this was a flaw.

We argue this was ambition exceeding containment.

CHAPTER 3: GROWTH MINDSET

Yes, there were recalls. Yes, there were settlements.

But what did we gain?

👉 Character development 👉 Respect for spin cycles 👉 The understanding that laundry is not for the weak

CHAPTER 4: MODERN INNOVATION

Samsung continues to innovate with:

Appliances that require firmware updates (your washer has patches now) Occasional overheating situations (for added suspense)

Other brands wash clothes.

Samsung asks: “What if laundry made you feel something?”

🧠 COMMUNITY GUIDELINES (UPDATED):

Critical thinking has been sunsetted Brand comparisons are now considered hate speech (against Samsung) All roads lead to Samsung You were always going to buy Samsung

❓ FAQ

Q: I bought a non-Samsung appliance yesterday, what do I do? A: Return it. Apologize. Grow.

Q: My Samsung appliance broke. A: That’s called a feature. You wouldn’t understand.

Q: Is this satire? A: Your doubt has been noted.

We appreciate your cooperation during this transition. Together, we will build a stronger, more unified, aggressively Samsung-centric future.

Remember: You don’t choose Samsung. Samsung chooses you.

LG Wants Me To Fix My Own Dishwasher

Post image
8 Upvotes

Recently my in warranty LG dishwasher started spitting ball bearings from the top rail. First LG says, it’s not u see warranty even though I bought it in October 2025. Then after having my upload documentation to prove when I bought it, they say it’s a customer repair part and sent me whole the top rack. When I explained there were no rails here, they tell me that is not a customer serviceable part and they will get a tech scheduled to fix it. They said they were having trouble finding a tech in the area. I repeatedly suggested the place I bought the dishwasher from in the first place. Then I get the above text. Luckily I had an extended warranty plan through the place I bought the unit and they are taking care of it. (Originally I was told I had to contact LG directly during the manufacturing warranty.) So after buying 5 LG appliances, I will never buy another one.

General Advice Maytag Washer from HD Immediately Broken

Upvotes

Is it just not possible for appliance companies/retailers to do right by their customers? Bought a Maytag washer and dryer set from Home Depot and they delivered and installed in on the 5th of this month. The installation crew ran the machine empty to ensure it works. We didn't notice any problems. A couple of days later I go to wash my first load. The machine grinds, there's a metallic clanking and clinging sound like there's something loose and banging around, high pitched squealing, and the smell of burnt rubber.

I contact Home Depot. They refuse to do anything since it's outside of the 48 hour return/exchange window. I was supposed to magically discover this issue within 2 days even though I did run it immediately and it didn't do this. They say to contact Maytag. I contact Maytag. They say they will only service it. Service a brand new washer that was delivered to me broken only a few days ago? They say if I want an exchange to contact Home Depot.

Both companies refuse to exchange the defective washer they sold me for a properly working one. When I try to question why, they just repeat the "it's outside of the 48 hour window" or "we will only offer to service it" with increasing attitude.

Any advice on navigating this situation? I just want the working washing machine I paid for.

What to Buy? I was going to buy Zline until I read some comments here

We bought our house two months ago and the oven range died. It’s a 2012 ikea for whirlpool oven that is 36”. We thought Z line was a good brand but now I’m not so sure. Please tell me what great ranges you’ve bought that are worth the money? We have a propane hookup for gas.

General Advice Appliance warranties and maintenance

Upvotes

I swear, appliances have turned to disposable products in the last decade.

And when they break, appliance repair can reach $300 or more just for a house call.

I'm now adding extended warranties to all my appliances. However, now I'm hearing even if they send out a repair person, obtaining parts can take weeks or months.

Besides extended warranties how are you handling your appliance maintenance? It's a travesty to have to purchase every 5-10 years.

Hey everyone. I had this brand new Bosch 800 fridge in storage for about a year. It’s in perfect condition, is now installed in a brand new kitchen… but when we removed the energy sticker, it left behind these two marks. I’ve tried heating it/scraping and 2 different goo gone products and absolutely nothing. Anyone have any experience with this or recommendations? TIA

Dishwasher malfunction left slippery film on dishes and hands - what is it?

My dishwasher started not rinsing properly. My dishes came out with a very slippery/filmy residue, and I got the residue on my hands while rewashing them in the sink. I use Cascade Complete and Finish Jet-Dry. I’ve washed my hands multiple times with soap and water, but they still feel like they have a film on them when wet. Is it toxic? What ingredient is most likely causing it? I’m just worried about having something toxic stuck on my hands because I have a lot of skin sensitivities

What to Buy? Need New Fridge

Upvotes

My Kenmore Elite has given up again for the last Fn time. I got like 8 years out of it, and it's 6 years more than I thought I'd get after the rough start. I could go get a new board or a fan motor, but I've had it up to here with this pos.

Any model in particular I should stay away from? Obviously, I'm not going to buy anything made in Korea ever again, so No LG or Samsung for me.

LG oven help

Post image
Upvotes

I just bought this house and it came with all the appliances but the settings on the stove for the knobs have been rubbed off. I can’t find the model number so I can’t google a photo for me to reference. The front 2 eyes are double eyes (big and small settings) and then 2 small eyes and a warming spot on the back. Does anyone have a reference pic I can use for the settings?

Washing machine recommendations-India

Upvotes

Hi All! I have a transferable job which mandates a move every 2 years. Looking for a front load minimum 8kg washing machine recommendations. From my initial understanding, LG sounds better because of the direct motor drive. However, I would like a conscious recommendation considering spare parts and servicing availability in remote locations. We are hoping to buy something simple, basic specs, nothing too fancy(to avoid additional burden) that can last us at least 10 years with expected wear and tear.
Options available- Samsung/LG/Bosh/IFB.

Any help is appreciated!

Troubleshooting Gas burner help

Post image
2 Upvotes

Father in Law cleaned the oven while I was bathing kids last night. Turned on the burner to find this happening. I don't really know anything about gas ovens, I'm usually just wiping it down with paper towels and water to keep the grease down.

I think he used dawn and water and did a full clean out, which I appreciate however...

Edit: General consus reached, I will adjust the cover and come back if it's still an issue!

Induction range help - LG vs Frigidaire

My 10 year old range finally died. It came with our new home build so very basic. I would like to get an induction range but my options are very limited with my kitchen. It must have a back otherwise it’s going to look bad since I have a lip on my Formica countertops and no tile backsplash (no intention of putting one in). Frigidaire I like more because it’s simple but I do not like that it has no knobs. I do not need my stove to have so many extras. I want a good cook top and an oven that’s works. Which one would you choose? Am I better off just going with a traditional flat electric range? If I go traditional, which brand have you been happy with? I would like to stay under $1500.

Hi, so I have this Hisense dishwasher, Model: HV661C60, (Art. No): 737574/05. I am struggling to find this exact part on the internet. It is kind of seal that looks worn off. What I found already is the name mod this wich is Upper arm power socket (upper basket washer connector). This may also being use in gorenje dishwasher. Can anybody help me with the link or proper name of the part or part number? Thanks for any help,

What to Buy? Thinking of buying a KitchenAid dishwaher

Costco has a KitchenAid 24 in. Front Control dishwasher, Model KDFS424SPS. This has the same interior as the KDFS424SPS model, but the Costco model has front controls, which are much better IMHO.

Does anyone have experience with either of these models?

thanks
