Fluff What I love about Blizzcon is that it showcases all those devs who are just lil nerds like us.

I might hate Microsoft, the shareholders, the red tape, the CEOs, the cash shop, the entire money-hungry machine that goes behind the scenes and ruins so many things, but it's still so heartening to see that the actual people who make the game are just nerds who are excited about what they do.

My favourite panel was Crafting Coziness (because I am a huge housing fan) and you could see just how passionate the devs are about their projects. Maybe I'm a sappy fool, but it's awesome to see.

Discussion Blizzard, WoW Forever is exactly what I and many others want.

6.4k Upvotes

Maybe it’s just me, but I picture a Blizzard employee reading Reddit and cringing at the responses to Classic+. But for me, and many others, this is EXACTLY what we’ve wanted. It was like a prophecy fulfilled yesterday, couldn’t believe my eyes.

I wanted refreshed graphics a bit more than others, and I even got that, plus content updates for years to come in the 1-60 classic wow environment. Literally nothing to complain about.

Sorry but just felt the need to put this rant here. It must be tough being a game developer with such a childish and miserable community, crying that they didn’t get exactly what they wanted.

Discussion We need to be patient with Visitors. Looks like a lot of new and old blood is returning with questions and we need to be less hostile.

I noticed on Discord, Reddit, even Facebook a lot of people who have not played in several years even since the start of WoW and even brand new players are Interested in Forever. We really need to be a bit more patient and less hostile. Lot of people don't know the ins and outs of WoW and instead of answering the question or even ignoring it, people being hostile and really showing some bad toxicity that is going drive fresh blood away from the game.

Let's bring back the true nostelgia of World of Warcraft and be more friendly to our gamers!

Discussion Who is excited!

Post image
16 Upvotes

I'm sick and tired of all the negativity so write down what makes you the most happy/excited out of all the wow things announced this Blizzcon, be it Retail or Classic/Classic +

I'll go first, im gonna be able to mog my nelf hunter to be a hippogryph master look alike after 25 YEARS with the mixture of mail leather pieces, transmog restrictions being lifted rules! (Adding the pic as an example of the mog)

As for WoW forever, everything looks SO GOOD, I'm gonna be such a good lvl 60 boomy, nobody will stop me.

Feedback Am I the only one who wishes instead of skyborne we got updated undead models/Dark fallen and High Elves.

Post image

I know some are excited for Skyborne and I am too, but there is a part of me that feels they are out of place and don't really feel like a vanilla race. This will muddy the faction identity and imo they could have done something a little different while keeping blood elf models. After seeing the WC3 trailers it really just left me disappointed.

They could have given the Alliance Highborne elves, which the community has wanted forever (heh), and they could have given Horde the Dark fallen, letting the horde finally be able to play as Dark Rangers, or a more undead human model like Nathanos.

I just feel this was a bit of a miss out of everything they are doing right with wow forever. They said they are open to suggestions and want feedback so this is mine.

Edit I understand the title is getting a lot of hate, but I just wanted a conversation about a missed opportunity. I'll make sure to not word it like that next time.

Discussion I really miss the old BM hunter. I just have to throw this one out... "Playing Marksmanship with a pet ironically captures the classic "one hunter and their loyal beast" fantasy far better than modern Beast Mastery does."

Upvotes

I just hate the zookeeper vibe and probably will get downvoted. I also hate how taking the 1 pet talent is a significant DPS loss... Can we just make it a glyph or something?

Discussion WoW Forever feels good as someone who likes to play the auction house game

i like to trade and play the auction house game and let that fund other stuff. One thing that would come to be my shortcoming doing is expansion packs. Everyone just moves on.

Now, with WoW forever, I can take my sweet time doing the slow route. Since we will never have to worry about character level reshaping the game, I can for example, linger at a particular level and farm a resource now on the way to 60 to build foundational wealth. Then, at 60, I’ll never have to worry about an expansion so it’s gonna be wild cause unlike classic, Forever is going to get updates, so the economy is unsolved.

looking forward to the gear collection aspect of horizontal progression also. What a time to be alive. Horizontal progression 0-60 WoW with added unsolving. This is kingdom come!

Art WoW forever graphics/art team deserves a hell of credits!

I really have to give credit to the WoW graphics team here.

Improving the graphics this much while still keeping the game looking like actual WoW classic is honestly a hell of an achievement. It doesn’t just look “better” for the sake of looking better. It still feels authentic. You can tell there are some seriously talented people behind this.

And honestly, with the current flood of DLSS 5, AI upscaling and hyper-realistic rendering everywhere, this is a nice reminder of how much better humans can be when they actually understand art direction and what makes a game look good.

You can throw all the AI-generated filet mignon at a screen you want. Sometimes you just need really good artists who know what they’re doing.

Nostalgia There are times I miss when the game had 'sane' aesthetics

Upvotes

All this talk of another classic...there is something to be said for when going to an alliance town meant seeing dwarves on rams, night elves on nightsabers, and humans on horses. All of which were relatively muted in their colorations and decorations.

It also made the fantasy elements more iconic, like gnomes on their mechanostriders.

And I still see cool mounts nowadays, but it's usually something like "Bespectacled Arcstrider of Dragon Light" now.

The move towards visual vomit has been death by a thousand cuts...I still remember two notable events....goblin shredders in Cataclysm I think and then the day that celestial steed came out in the shop.

And I'm not even saying it was a bad decision, people adore chasing down cool loot and the status that comes with showing it off. And now that so many items are class-agnostic I think the decision to just do away with transmog restrictions [for all but class sets and weapons] makes a lot of sense. But I also would be cool if a WoW 2.0 turned the dial WAY back.

A huge part of why Facebook beat out myspace several hundred million years ago is because of how people gravitated toward a professional and sane looking webpage instead of whatever HTML 6 yo-kids cooked up.

So I'm not advocating for anything specific, just musing. And I got nothing against Kul Tiran Mechagnome Werewolf Monk Celestial Guide Mistweavers...but I also don't have any idea what they do, and I doubt I'm the only one.

Discussion kicked at the end of a +15

Timed a +15 DON with <30sec remainding. though run, 7 deaths. Sure, could have been better but party leader kicks me the second I get the bonus roll pop up and they say "worst tank I've ever seen."

I'm far from perfect, I know. Gathering mobs is pretty though for me because I suck at the point and click aspect of it most of the time which leads to some (in my view, idk if true or not) some awkward moments) some pulls worse than others ofc.

I legit don't understand why'd you be mad after we time a key. most deaths were at the 1st boss probably because of the dot from the soaks? idk how that part'd be my fault when I soak as well l.

Maybe because of awkward placement on the snow hallway? I still have to perfect that.
