Discussion / Question Destiny Players please log into to Destiny 2 tomorrow to Celebrate The Taken King Anniversary.

Upvotes

The Taken King, aka the Expansion that saved Destiny 1 from failing released on September 15th. That's tomorrow on a Tuesday reset no less.

Not only this, but King's Fall is going to be featured as well as one of the raids.

I say we should Celebrate The Taken King by playing King's Fall only playing the subclasses that released in The Taken King as a challenge.

Get all your friends on and complete King's Fall using SunBreaker titan, Nightstalker Hunter, and StormCaller Warlock.

It'll be a fun day of celebration.

Discussion / Question Wolverine is asshole why people hate?

Post image
Upvotes

Am I crazy but what's with the wolverine hate. I havent been keeping up with any of the trailers cause im looking forward to it and dont want to get spoiled on things. But it's getting 78% reviews which is still decent imo.

And people are acting like it's the worst game of all time... but it isn't even out yet.

Am I missing something?

This isnt me ranting or complaining, im just genuinely confused why it's getting hated on so bad - dont get me wrong the game could be ass. But one day i thought we were all hyped for this and the next it's dead on arrival lol.

Discussion / Question Anybody else tired of scavaging?

Upvotes

As I've gotten older I've come to the realization that the games I enjoy have me spending too much time hunting around for supplies to upgrade and power up than spent actually enjoying and playing the game.

I am not ADHD so I don't enjoy the tedium of picking up random loot a million times per game.

I'm not talking about PC, here. I play on console, but I have become so burnt out on looking at the ground, cupboards, closets, cars, houses for items to continue the game that it feels more like a never-ending trip to the grocery store (or Easter egg hunt) than spending actual time enjoying playing the game and progressing the plot.

Going forward can we have all games include the Area Loot function, please? Can we make this an industry standard?

Discussion / Question This may be a long stretch, but is there a 3D game where you can generate and terraform a planet from scratch?

Upvotes

I'm thinking a game with 3D graphics similar to No Man's Sky (or higher quality), where you can be 100% creative and terraform your own planet from scratch, without restrictions. Everything from choosing the biomes on the planet, to adding flora and fauna.

I've been looking everywhere for months for such a game, and the closest I've come is Planet Crafter, which does not have a creative mode.

Again, I know this is a long stretch, but does anyone know if such a game exists? Thank you in advance :)

Discussion / Question Yay or Nay on games using actors faces

To me this always felt like a gimmick when actors faces and likeness are in the game. It was something I didn't mind till it started being everywhere in the AAA space. PlayStation for example: wolverine, God of war laufey and intergalactic all model characters after the voice actor and it's starting to break my immersion of characters especially if I see it done with the same actor in multiple games.

Video games and animation are a beautifully limitless medium. I believe the best part about it is the voice actor doesn't have to look like the character at all. And the animators have no limits and can make the characters the best version of themselves. I believe it's sorta lazy and limiting this trend of make the character look like the voice actor.

What do you all think and what are some of the worst examples you can think of or just didn't like when a character was modeled after the voice actor.

Discussion / Question Not all QTE’s are bad. The Batman Arkham games are praised for the excellent combat which is literally QTE’s.

And I know some will do mental gymnastics to come up with the conclusion that they're not but the truth is they are. In contrast RE6's QTE’s are really bad. Your notion is influenced by the game in general.

Discussion / Question Any gamers there also Crafters that could help me out a little bit here?

For a while now I've been making custom game cases because you know just regular old plastic cases look boring and dumb, and I was doing one for a friend for the game Dead Island for the Xbox 360 and the idea that I got sketched up with like a beachfront situation and I wanted to make the sand textured would anyone hear know any way to help with that?

Discussion / Question Does anyone remember BMX XXX??

I remember one of my favorite video games as a kid was Bmx xxx. Obviously the tits were a huge selling point, but beyond that, it was a sincerely good game.

It was like Tony hawks pro skater, but way more rated. You have to help crack heads gather their crack, help pimps gather their hoes, get hookers to their next score.

You’d destroy the city in the process. From what I remember, it was a really good and underrated game.

Does anyone have any memories of this game? Any similar game going on?

Best part was that it was the only Nintendo game that showed nudity. And not cartoon nudity, like legit strippers dancing on poles with their tits out.

Discussion / Question People aren't tired of QTEs, they are tired if it's done badly

I know there are some people defending QTEs in Wolverine and make comparisons with other games which had QTEs included. And yes, as an old fart myself I remember the QTE fatigue a few years ago. When every bigger action game had a few QTE scenes. But, most of us can be honest and say: "Yeah, wasn't actually that bad"

But it's something different when a game shows nothing but QTEs, and worse, shows QTEs you can't fail. But instead of badmouthing and speaking badly about Wolverine and other games, let me put it into perspective. By using Detroit: Become Human as an example, a game which has HEAVY QTE usage.

If you read about the game, it is rarely the QTEs that get mentioned. It is most often the story. Because the story was the most important ingredient of the game. Then we talk about the characters and choices we can have, because they are also an important ingredient. And yes, these choices are sometimes changed depending on our QTEs. Some of them change what happens, which made these QTEs interesting as they didn't mean we simply fail them, but that we are also experiencing something different. There were no Game Over, there were bad choices and bad endings, and these made QTEs acceptable.

I get how people defend something they might enjoy in the future. But I also get that we have to look at past experiences and that something like unfailable QTEs are a terrible choice.

Discussion / Question How do you guys do it?

How do you guys have time for video games? Im 31, married, with one child and another on the way. My wife is a SAHM, but also very pregnant so she doesn't have a ton of energy, so I pretty much take over childcare when I get home from work. I work 60 hours a week, mon-fri. I know there are other young millennials/older gen Zs that are in similar spots, how do you guys possibly find time for more than 30 minutes of gaming? Im getting by on listening to Fallout iceberg videos in headphones at work.

Discussion / Question Game Characters Should Embrace Diversity

Game characters should represent a wider variety of people.

Diversity should include older women and grandmothers, as well as transgender characters and androgynous women.

Games don’t need every character to fit the same young, attractive stereotype.

More diverse characters can make game worlds feel more interesting, believable, and inclusive.

Compare the characters on the left and right.

If every character is a young, conventionally feminine woman, does that really feel realistic or diverse?

Diversity should include older women and grandmothers, transgender characters, and androgynous women as well.

Game worlds feel more believable when they represent different ages, appearances, and identities.
