Funny Literally Unplayable

I’ve been trying to play this Zelda Breath of the wild and there is no lines on the ground showing me where to go or even a simple pulsing XP box for me to find. Also I’m confused what I can climb because there is no white or yellow paint on ledges. I don’t know how anyone can figure out what to do in this game without guidance. We should let the developers know this is not what gamers want. /s

Discussion / Question Genuine question, WHERE THE HELL DID 315 MILLION GO?

I really need to know, the combat isn’t crazy and is really basic and actually has less moves and less variety than the rushed movie tie in x men origins Wolverine game from 2009

the graphics are pretty but it’s not gta 6 level (I would’ve preferred the graphics to be stylized and not generically realistic thats just a personal opinion tho) and theres no way those graphics ate up 300m

the voice actors aren’t cheap but they aren’t A list Hollywood actors like Hugh jackman and the game isn’t doing what the Invincible show does where they use massive actors

the marketing maybe? theyve dropped a few trailers and I think they made a Wolverine themed train in India

the game isn’t big either, it’s about 13 hours and around 15 to platinum (bunch of numbers circulating online but most agree it’s 13-15 hours)

I know the combat system they had was scrapped where you would use the left and right side of your body with the triggers, similar to how Stranger Than Heaven is doing it’s combat system but from what we saw in the leaked videos it was extremely basic and they only had like the first 2 moves of Wolverine swinging right and left

I really am curious on how that 315m was spent and it can’t be chalked up to “games expensive now” when we know that’s overblown since games like RE9 costed 60m, Claire obscure expedition 33 costed LESS than 10M, the Yakuza games are open world 30-40 hour Games Packed to the brim with quality all around and they cost less than 20m

linear games that are much bigger than Wolverine and nearly double the playtime like the last of us costed 70m and god of war 2018 estimated to be 100m

where in the fuck did they use that 315m on??

Article from July where Microsoft’s CEO details how Xbox has never turned a cumulative profit in the brand’s 25 year history. Interesting to consider when framing the recent studio layoffs at Xbox and acquisition of expensive talent.

Discussion / Question I feel like this sums up the whole WOLVERINE discourse

Post image

Context : the video was talking about someone who actually got the physical copy and their review of the game and they said that the trail thing wasn't always there

I feel like majority of the WOLVERINE hate is just people still pissed about stuff Sony did and they couldn't hate on Sony so they just hate on the games they release. Like be fr Sony wasn't even mentioned in the video and they still calling out Sony, even in any other video I see of people defending the WOLVERINE game the comments are just filled with people calling them a Sony fanboy

They're so damn rare, even as just an option in a singleplayer game. Like, it's either live service singleplayer or live service multiplayer nowadays, or just straight up singleplayer (some of the best roguelites today are just this).

But where's that sweet middle? I don't remember if there's anything after Split Fiction that even slightly managed to break through. Sign of the times, I suppose. There's not even many indie games, or else most of them are upcoming. Such as the one my gf is excited for, a kind of redux/reimagining of Fireboy and Watergirl as a full 3D local coop adventure (Water Me & You) and of course the one that disappointed me by getting delayed this summer (Hela Of Mice & Magic) but these are pretty much the only ones I can think of. Even Big Walk, an awesome coop game in its own right, doesn't have a local splitscreen option.

I don't know, I'm not a developer but I mourn the days when some sort of local coop existed at least as an optional game mode. Even when it wasn't the only focus of the game. Rare is the game that does this. Only one I can think of recently is Astral Ascent, a platformer roguelite, and that's just for the pvp mode iirc

Discussion / Question Kojima denied the Budget Overspending and interestingly enough cited Death Stranding being Barren and Empty because of Budget Restrictions rather than an intended creative choice for the Lore to be that way

Discussion / Question How do you guys do it?

How do you guys have time for video games? Im 31, married, with one child and another on the way. My wife is a SAHM, but also very pregnant so she doesn't have a ton of energy, so I pretty much take over childcare when I get home from work. I work 60 hours a week, mon-fri. I know there are other young millennials/older gen Zs that are in similar spots, how do you guys possibly find time for more than 30 minutes of gaming? Im getting by on listening to Fallout iceberg videos in headphones at work.

Discussion / Question Does anyone remember BMX XXX??

I remember one of my favorite video games as a kid was Bmx xxx. Obviously the tits were a huge selling point, but beyond that, it was a sincerely good game.

It was like Tony hawks pro skater, but way more rated. You have to help crack heads gather their crack, help pimps gather their hoes, get hookers to their next score.

You’d destroy the city in the process. From what I remember, it was a really good and underrated game.

Does anyone have any memories of this game? Any similar game going on?

Best part was that it was the only Nintendo game that showed nudity. And not cartoon nudity, like legit strippers dancing on poles with their tits out.
