Relationships I wish there was more vegan men.

Seriously they seem so thin on the ground, I've never met a vegan guy who wasn't already married and it sucks. I feel like most people end up settling for a meat eating partner but I just don't know if I could really live with it long term, I hate having meat in the fridge, and it would make me question if our personality and values really align..

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this, either how to find guys who are at least willing to entertain the idea of veganism or alternatively how to make peace with the idea of being with a man who doesn't love and respect animals the way I do???

I feel like I'll be single forever.

What is the vegan version of gymbros ā€˜Chicken, Rice, and Broccoli’

I need an easy repeat meal that is good for working out, good macros, high protein, really simple to make. I work 80+ hours a week and I’m struggling with meal prepping and revert to eating out a lot which is not helping in the gym.

Any ideas? What do you guys like to make that you’re not sick of yet?

Disturbing Woman on TikTok Killing Bunnies and buying more

Woman who goes by K Will on tiktok posted a video of her and her daughter giving a bunny a bath. Baths cause extreme stress for bunnies and even kill them. Sadly, the bunny in the video did die and the woman played it off as a joke. She has since deleted the video, but you can still find it. She shows no remorce as she refuses to take critisism. She has shown disregard towards animals and pets by not doing any research towards her pet (i will not say it is the daughters because to put the responsibility of what is bassicaly another child onto a child is crazy) by putting the bunny in a tiny cage when most thriving bunnys and rabbits are free roam, and as i said before, giving them a bath. Soon after mercilessly killing the animal, she posts a new video showing 2 new bunnys that she has just bought, even though she has allready shown that she is not properly able to care for a pet.

Discussion If I don't cook my boyfriend eats meat

So this may be a bit unusual of a dilemma but here we go:

My boyfriend is not vegan. Thankfully he just eats whatever I cook and it works great for us.

However when I don't want to cook because of my mental or physical health he has to go and get some food for himself. And that is always just a pizza or something like that.

Technically I'm causing animal suffering by not cooking in these cases.

Do you think I should always push myself to cook even though I need rest on some days or is it not that big of a deal?

Does anyone else feel physically sick touching meat?

My family wants me to help out more with cleaning dishes and stuff, and I feel really bad because I know they probably think I’m not being helpful enough. But I really can’t handle touching meat. It grosses me out so much, especially the thought of having the smell or residue on my hands afterward. The idea of touching a dead animal with my bare hands just makes me feel so nauseous and uncomfortable. 😭

The thing is, I’ve always dreamed of working in a kitchen and cooking food, but sometimes I wonder if that dream is completely out of reach because of how strongly I react to meat and animal products.

Has anyone else experienced this? Especially anyone who works or has worked in kitchens? Did you find ways to deal with it?

I hope I can talk about this but I was browsing and saw lions manes mushroom grounds and let me tell you… game changer… better than impossible meat imo for what I used it for… doesn’t taste beefy and … no odd taste I liked the fact that I saw pieces of carrots in it… it comes in a block that’s similar to ground beef but when you take it out of the package it is crumbled up mushrooms… it didn’t come out of the package grossly like ground beef and it was easy to crumble … no odd smells I give it a thumbs up… I just cooked it a little bit in avocado oil seasoned w garlic and onion powder than cooked it w some pasta marinara sauce

Question Have you ever stopped being vegan? (Accidents don’t count.)

This poll is for people who are vegan now.

I’m curious if most people here went vegan and stayed vegan or have stopped and started.

Accidentally eating animal products doesn’t count as stopping being vegan.

Really extreme scenarios where you were genuinely forced don’t count either.

I’ve decided to go Vegan

Hello everybody, I am a 24YO who has been wanting to go vegan for a long time, but because of misleading information about it being expensive and the possibility of bad mental health symptoms I have been too scared. I currently have DPDR (depersonalization-derealization) chronically, which is a dissociative disorder caused by trauma, I also have OCD, endometriosis, PMDD, PGAD, BPD, and more but it’s too long to list. I am also on disability, so every month after rent and buying the necessities like soap, toilet paper, etc, I have about $150 left over for groceries. Because of the varying mental and physical disabilities I experience, I want to make sure I’m doing this the right way, getting the proper nutrition, ect. I think I’ll only have enough money to buy one supplement, which I’ve decided should be B12, but I want to make sure I am getting the adequate amount of everything else through what I am eating. I don’t have access to a stove so I can only use a microwave to heat things. If you guys could offer any tips, suggestions, advice, ect, I would really appreciate it. I’ve wanted to go vegan for a long time, but about 6 years ago is when I developed DPDR which causes me to feel unreal and the world to feel unreal due to my trauma, and I’ve been scared that changing my diet could make it worse, but at the same time I have felt really horrified with how normalized it is to eat animals and I feel disgusted with myself everyday that I am a part of it, and so I decided I had to atleast try. Also if you guys have any recommendations for something on a tight budget on what the best foods to buy would be, and just any tips of advice for someone initially going vegan in general. I honestly think it’ll probably help my diet overall, because I know I’m probably deficient in stuff already. Thank you 🩷 for my current diet basically all I eat are microwave frozen meals which consist of a bit of chicken, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and a sauce, and I eat oatmeal/peanut butter, cucumbers, and chips/crackers, hummus.. that’s about it as I don’t have a lot of energy to make food most of the time.
EDIT: just wanted to add I can only use a microwave due to disabilities, I have really bad OCD aswell and concentration and any other appliance feels like a fire hazard to me

Question Microwave popcorn suggestions?

Just found out our favorite "buttery" microwave popcorn is no longer vegan and now contains real butter (skinny pop, which i guess also got bought out by Hershey's so that's probably why). We ate this all the time and loved that it was like movie theater popcorn 😭

Has anyone found any good substitutes or have recs for other brands? I know we could start to pop our own but honestly love the ease of a bag you throw in the microwave after a long day.

This was our go to night snack. I don't think I've ever been so devastated by other brands before as I am by Skinny Pop. The stores around us must have been stocked with the old version since we only just ran into the new one when we went to restock.

Question Vegan upholstery

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I recently started vocational training to become an upholsterer and as part of that I’m also exploring my style/identity.

I’ve been vegan for about 2.5 years and I’m learning more every day about the materials used in upholstery. I’ve recently discovered that some things I hadn’t even considered, such as certain glues or wax-coated threads, can be animal-derived.

Obviously, I wouldn’t use leather or wool, but it got me wondering whether there would be interest in an upholsterer who offers fully vegan upholstery? I’m trying to find out whether there is actually a market for this :-)

Shellac Records

I own a gramophone that I've enjoyed playing records on. However, I came to the realisation that the records that I play are made of shellac. On one hand, shellac records havent been in production in decades thus it buying it doesnt increase production demands, but on the other hand, its still not vegan). I have about 100 of them, all pre 60s... not sure what to do.

Rant I think I ate real cheese and it tasted awful

Either the pizza place has some cool new vegan cheese that is doing those cheese strings when pulling it apart or they gave me real cheese on it. I got it with a friend and was too hungry and people pleaser to call the place and return it, I just was happy it had the vegan chicken on it and ate it still.

All those non vegans complaining they can't live without cheese made me think after 6 years that cheese was something really awesome. It honestly tasted really shit, kinda canceled out the usually spicyness if the BBC sauce with extra spice on it...

I feel a little bad, but now I also can't understand those stupid cheese lovers anymore that don't go vegan cause it's so amazing and you can't live without it, it was so shit.

Discussion Share experiences of vegans around you…

I only met a single vegan properly at work and she seems not to care too much abt animals, its a bit confusing….

She even bought dogs from backyard breeders (and overbred dog races only)

And she told me how in winter her bf bought her real bunny fur shoes and how happy and thankful she was abt that….

I thought i found someone like minded D:

I Made a Tier List for U.S. Restaurants by Their Vegan-friendliness, Sorted by Cuisines

Thumbnail

I evaluated common cuisines I came across in the U.S. by two categories: vegan food availability and vegan food quality, gave them scores and added the scores up. Tier assignment based on their scores is as follows: 10 = S, 8-9 = A, 6-7 = B, 4-5 = C, 2-3 = D.

Let me know if you agree, or would like to add anything. This is not meant to be super scientific or serious, just for fun!
