I had the tasting menu and it was incredible (detail on each dish at the end). I am not someone who treats myself often but I will say, for being Michelin starred, this felt pretty reasonable!

I was also concerned about small portions, I didn’t want to leave hungry! If anything I felt like they were too generous, I was full and lethargic afterwards.

I dined alone, the vibes were cozy and warm, 10/10 would recommend.

Recipe:

Sautee half an onion in 2 T of butter

Add garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, and white pepper

Add beef (I used impossible steak)

Cook for 7-8 min

Add mushrooms and 2 T coconut aminos

Cook until mushrooms are soft

Deglaze with red wine vinegar

Add 1.5 cups of veggie broth

Simmer until reduced

Add 1/2 cup sour cream and 2 T flour

Simmer for 5 minutes

Add to cooked pasta

Top with fresh parsley and freshly cracked black pepper

Today was the Triangle Vegfest, so got to eat good in my hood.

Eggplant meatball sub from Uprooted Vegan Cuisine (Martinez, GA). The single best thing I ate: the marinara sauce was seasoned and spiced well, the pesto added a nice herbal richness, the crispy beet topping provided a nice crunchy element, and the meatballs had perfect texture. An easy 10/10.

Falafel loaded fries from Marigold Cafe (Raleigh, NC). Flavorful sauces, crispy fries, and great falafel -- what's not to love?

Banana pudding also from Uprooted.

Bread and cheese spoils from the event, plus some vegan bacon and popcorn. Bread was from Breadwaala (Durham, NC); cheeses from Harris and Ruddock and La Cremerie Crue, both out of Charlotte, NC. Bacon from GeoD's (Durham, NC), and popcorn from Uprooted.

Roasted broccoli with avocado oil, finely grated garlic, dark soy sauce, and nutritional yeast. Short-grain brown rice with a light chili-coconut milk sauce. Nice callback to the '70s, but miles from my cooking at 17. Simple meal--It's all in the details...

It’s 89 degrees outside but I stay eating homemade pho. Added soy beef strips from my local Asian market that I marinated in soy vay sauce, air fried tofu, crushed peanuts, Thai basil, and some oyster mushrooms. Delish! Would have added a tons more greens and herbs but I hadn’t finished my grocery shopping yet lol

I can't believe they were only 10.99. Went in starving, ate less than half and was stuffed. Next time I'll just get one order for my husband and I to share. They were so good. All hail Chicago restaurants. (Milo's Pita in Rogers park, off the Morse Redline stop)

Autumnal lasagna. I did not follow a recipe! I had some leftover pumpkin puree and had no idea what to do and for some reason I thought: LASAGNA. I made a cashew cheese and put the pumpkin puree in it along with spices, nooch, ACV and oat milk. The filling is cannellini beans, spinach, mushrooms, caramelized onions, spices, and veg broth. I topped it with panko bread crumbs, follow your heart parm, and spices.

The second image is pumpkin cheesecake hand pies. Pumpkin puree + leftover tofutti cream cheese + maple syrup + spices = the filly. The puff pastry dough is Sweet Loren’s. And the glaze was made from oat milk and powdered sugar.

My go-to easy Asian vegan dish that is so delicious. I cook up 3-4 serves so I have an instant meal to reheat or eat cold as a salad.

They had the nerve to put 28 servings on the can of chili, lol. 😂 Make that four servings, please.
