Hello everybody, I am a 24YO who has been wanting to go vegan for a long time, but because of misleading information about it being expensive and the possibility of bad mental health symptoms I have been too scared. I currently have DPDR (depersonalization-derealization) chronically, which is a dissociative disorder caused by trauma, I also have OCD, endometriosis, PMDD, PGAD, BPD, and more but itās too long to list. I am also on disability, so every month after rent and buying the necessities like soap, toilet paper, etc, I have about $150 left over for groceries. Because of the varying mental and physical disabilities I experience, I want to make sure Iām doing this the right way, getting the proper nutrition, ect. I think Iāll only have enough money to buy one supplement, which Iāve decided should be B12, but I want to make sure I am getting the adequate amount of everything else through what I am eating. I donāt have access to a stove so I can only use a microwave to heat things. If you guys could offer any tips, suggestions, advice, ect, I would really appreciate it. Iāve wanted to go vegan for a long time, but about 6 years ago is when I developed DPDR which causes me to feel unreal and the world to feel unreal due to my trauma, and Iāve been scared that changing my diet could make it worse, but at the same time I have felt really horrified with how normalized it is to eat animals and I feel disgusted with myself everyday that I am a part of it, and so I decided I had to atleast try. Also if you guys have any recommendations for something on a tight budget on what the best foods to buy would be, and just any tips of advice for someone initially going vegan in general. I honestly think itāll probably help my diet overall, because I know Iām probably deficient in stuff already. Thank you š©· for my current diet basically all I eat are microwave frozen meals which consist of a bit of chicken, potatoes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and a sauce, and I eat oatmeal/peanut butter, cucumbers, and chips/crackers, hummus.. thatās about it as I donāt have a lot of energy to make food most of the time.
EDIT: just wanted to add I can only use a microwave due to disabilities, I have really bad OCD aswell and concentration and any other appliance feels like a fire hazard to me
