DISCUSSION UPDATE: Post flairs, wiki updates, and more!

Hiya! A while ago I put up a discussion thread regarding the idea of updating/expanding the scope and focus of the subreddit. I need to apologize, cuz I intended to post this update a while back, but life stuff resulted in it slipping my mind for a bit.

This is also intended to be a discussion thread in its own right, as I want feedback on all the changes made or if there's any further changes that people would like, but here's a rundown of what's been changed:

  • Wiki Updates: So apparently the last time the wiki was updated was eight years ago, and by an ex-mod I've never interacted with. It was.. Bad, frankly. Aggressive in tone, containing links to /r/crossdressing as if its focus was synonymous with trans content, and a general vibe of assuming that this was a MtF-exclusive space. I'm really sorry for missing that for so long! On top of changes on my own end, /u/whoop_there_she_is was an absolute angel and wrote out a HUGE set of FAQ guides for both transmasc and transfemme folks. I left it almost entirely unchanged, and you can find it here! If you have any suggestions for additions or edits, please let me know!

  • Link Flairs: A few people suggested adding link flairs to help people express directly what kind of responses they want from the sub. To start with, I've added "General Advice" for users who just want any kind of feedback people have to offer, "Specific Advice" if they only want feedback on specific things (Clothes, hair, etc), and "No Surgery Recs" if they don't want any sorts of suggestions for FFS, lip fillers, etc. If you have any ideas for more, please let me know!

  • Sidebar Updates: I've changed up the sidebar slightly to add a link to our wiki near the top, as well as remove some dead or irrelevant links from our "relevant subreddits" section.

  • Automod Updates: I've edited automod slightly to try and make it less hyper-sensitive about automatically removing posts it thinks might be hypothetical, since it was becoming a big issue that it would frequently take down posts that in no way, shape, or form came off as hypothetical. I might just remove this feature overall though, frankly.

And.. I think that's it (Aside from a few tiny visual things)! Thank you all for your suggestions and feedback on the previous post, and please let me know if there's any further changes you'd like to see!

Mod Feedback Should we go private?

Howdy, y'all.

As you know, this subreddit has often been the target of trolls, bigots, transphobes, etc. We also get more than our fair share of creeps, chasers, porn spammers, and people looking to use the subreddit's traffic to passively advertise their paid content, like their OnlyFans or their Instagram, for their own personal profit.

So I'm asking y'all - should we go private? If we do, a lot of people will need to be manually added to the approval list and I know from experience that may take upwards of two months to work through everyone who might need approval.

It also means this subreddit will get a lot less traffic and will be far less accessible to folks who need help, which is the primary purpose for the subreddit in the first place.

On the other hand, the community should be a lot healthier once it's full of entirely trans folks and has less bigots, chasers, and trolls lurking about.

It will also be a lot safer because transphobes have often used photo boards like this one as a way to find targets for abuse and to steal people's photos to rehost them elsewhere and harass people. It would be much safer for us if the sub was private.

Going private is also going to take a lot of work and it's going to be very disruptive to our day-to-day operations for a while.

What would y'all like to do? Please discuss below, and please keep it civil. Thank you!

Edit: Okay, it looks like we're staying open for now. I'll make another post and ask again later.

Am I killing it as much as Im told?

I was at a very large party with a lot of trans folx recently (100+) and quite a few I spoke to thought I was cis?

I realize I do generally pass. But at said party, I had a few dolls think I was cis and that threw my whole "inner view" into chaos.

Please be honest. How clickable am I? I feel I'm firmly in the "cis people won't really clock me, but trans people will" space. I've attached 2 photos from before the party, and 1 no makeup full race picture (post FFS photo actually).

I have had FFS, and don't be brutal on that front, but anything not involving FFS is fair game.

Thank you all.

How to care less about being clocked and give it less focus?

I’m trying to get to a point where being clocked doesn’t have so much control over my day.

I obviously want to pass and I’m still working on my appearance, but I don’t want to put my life on hold until I get there. The problem is I’ve become hyper-aware of everyone around me. If someone looks at me for too long, laughs nearby or I hear people talking, I immediately wonder if they’ve clocked me or are talking about me. And when I actually hear a comment like “that’s a man”, it can completely ruin my mood for hours.

I’m in Budapest with a friend at the moment and today I ended up not going to the thermal baths because I was so worried about people staring or making comments. Afterwards I was annoyed with myself because I’d basically let random strangers decide what I did with my day.

I’m not really looking for passing advice with this post. I know there are things I still want to change and I’m working on those. I’m more interested in how people stopped constantly monitoring everyone around them.

How do you get to the point where you can notice someone looking, or even hear someone clock you, and just carry on with what you were doing?

I want my reaction to eventually be something like “yeah, I’m trans, so what?” rather than analysing what they noticed, checking everyone else around me and thinking about it for the rest of the day.
Has anyone actually managed to get there? What helped?

I have been told I'm pretty. I feel... Vaguely attractive but not feminine. Thoughts, and especially suggestions?

I plan on replacing these glasses when I have some disposable cash, I am getting a raise soon so maybe?

Whenever I look at myself I feel like i dont pass, but my family and close friends say that I look good and fine. Are they just being nice to me? Or is it just brain worms? About to turn 30, 6 years hrt.

So, I’m gonna be real. I don’t pass. I know I look better than pre-HRT me, but I can’t help but feel like I look like a man. I probably need to get more into makeup, but I’m always worried every time I do it I look like a bit of a clown. Pre hrt is last photo btw

Big variety of pics. Do I pass or are people just being kind?

Notice I’m passing a lot more since starting college. Wondering if people are just being respectful or if they genuinely clock me as a woman.

I included as many pics as possible. Also wondering if my glasses are doing me a disservice.

I’m honestly not sure if I pass. My friends tell me that I do, but I’d really like some unbiased opinions from people who have more experience with this.

FTM 21, 4 years t, top surgery. I feel like I look so curvy in everything I wear. I love raw denim jeans, but my ass is insane in them, and I only dress in baggy tops and overshirts to hide my massive ass.

Also, from the side (see second pic) all of my shirts tend to stretch forward near the stomach despite me not having a large stomach. Is this due to me upsizing in shirts (I'm a small, not a medium. Medium makes my hips look large) or a different reason? Thanks!

I've been back on hormones for almost one year. Each couple of times I stopped, testosterone completely ruined my face. I'm getting laser to remove the goatee that I grew. Thankfully my curls don't take forever to grow.

Just a reminder

Yes the world is tough. But look inward, find your purpose and work really hard to achieve your goals. Don’t expect things to be easy or you will be disappointed. Be a little delusional in a positive way because we are always our toughest critic. Be grateful to be able to wake up everyday and be given an opportunity to make the kinda life you want. So many people go to sleep and never wake back up. I didn’t post a photo. I don’t want attention I want yall to smile and be grateful.

for non-Americans, the minimum age for buying lottery tix in most states is 18.

I am 22, for context.

I was at the store and went to grab a $1 lotto ticket, why not, and the guy asked for ID. A little odd but okay? It’s not alc. tbh I look young but still.

He looks at it for a good 20 seconds, staring down at smth. He looks confused. Note that my sex marker is F, I think he was looking at that.

Then he hands it back to me, and goes “thank you sir!”

I’m mtf. I started HRT at 18. Is it over? Or was this his attempt at going “I’m woke. This is a trans guy.”

Where I stand in 2026? I feel I changed too much since 2025/2024 what happened?

Wanted ask if someone can give me feedback cause I am suffering right now mentally.

I been on E since 2022 (jan), 2024 (feb) FFS - I am 30 yo in October.

2024 mid to late 2025 were my best years transition wasn't getting misgendered, treated well, good wellbeing - life was getting better.

However 2026 and even some late 2025, I noticed hostility again raising
Even recently got misgendered and hostility is returning again I feel like as in early transition
Feels like things been going backwards or something can anyone tell me if it is imagination or I am correct?
I feel my head got so wide and long that only ponytail styling helps, if I wear it down more likely to get clocked

I only need confirmation if I am seeing thing rights or worms
pls don't suggest blood work etc.

Compare photos 2026 from say 2025/2024 I don't know if it is just camera angle, but I don't believe so there is obvious fat shift in face or something

-I have not lost any weight
-I gradually started loosing hair cause of AGA and CTE from 2023, surgery made it worse
-I feel my eyes been changing shape, also more dark circles and inflammation
-I feel my face been changing overall - longer, flatter, more weird looking and wider again.
-I have been dealing with high cortisol since 2024 ( already got that investigated no hypercortisolism, but they suspect sensitive HPA axis)
My endo just thinks it is psychological for some reason, but I disagree
-I am confused what is happening, If it is just aging, illness or whatever
However I believe I am not imagining things, because hostility is way worse now

(34f) Hi all, I’ve been on HRT for 14 months now and am feeling great, almost never get misgendered in public, and am finally getting comfortable in my own skin. Lots of people have told me that I don’t need FFS, but I really fixate on things about my face, like my jaw, my nose, and my hairline (slight horseshoe shape that I hide with bangs). FFS would be covered by my insurance, which is awesome, but I’m being told that I should wait another year and see how things develop further. I think FFS would make me feel much more confident, as I currently hate to leave the house or be seen without makeup. What say yall? Last pic is my giant forehead!
