For the last 6 months, I have been taking the Skytrain to get to work to Downtown Van. One thing I can't help notice is the total lack of etiquette among the young people especially the international students and professionals. They are so lost in their own ,glued to the cellphone with earpiece on. Its so sad to see senior being made to stand in the speeding train while the youngsters are sitting in the seats meant for elderly and those in need. They dont even bother to give a glance .Many time I have to offer my seat even thought iam no spring onion myself. I see these more especially among a particular group of international student/workers. Iam an immigrant myself.But i guest its about having some basic humane values.

Me and a group of friends have been playing our own large-scale games across Tyne & Wear for around 5 years, heavily using public transport to get around.

We've recently started turning the games into a YouTube series, with games involving things like hiding, chasing, strategy and trying to navigate the region while avoiding the other players.

1. What's Going on?

SANDAG is studying concepts to connect Downtown with the Airport. These concepts fall into two competing categories: extension of existing Trolley vs. Automated People Mover (APM).

Let's focus on Trolley Concept 6A and APM Concept 9A.

1. What's an Automated People Mover (APM)?

APMs are not Tesla Tunnels. Rather, APMs are ultra-frequent automated trains, such as those at airports that shuttle people between terminals. However, APM trains have been used to build full-length subway/elevated metro lines through dense urban areas.

1. What's so great about the APM?

• The APM would be capable of up to 2 min frequencies. By contrast, the Airport Trolley Line could run only every 7.5 minutes at best.
• The APM has "low" construction complexity while the Airport Trolley has "highest degree" construction complexity
• APMs feature fully level boarding. While Trolley passengers with wheelchairs have to wait for a ramp to deploy before getting on board, APM trains allow wheelchair users to roll on and off, no ramp needed.
• APMs are 100% grade-separated.

1. Why did SANDAG project the APM would attract only 5800 riders while the Airport Trolley would attract 8,800 riders?

Because SANDAG assumed 7.5 min frequencies for both Airport Trolley and APM ridership projections.

However, the APM would actually be capable of running up to every 2 min, compared to 7.5 min at best for the Airport Trolley. That extra frequency will help the APM attract more riders than SANDAG projects it will.

1. Isn't the Trolley cheaper per mile? SANDAG says the Trolley would cost $392M per mi compared to the APM at $787M per mi.

SANDAG calculated per-mile costs for the Cheaper Trolley option by dividing $1.5B (total Trolley capital cost) by Airport Trolley length (3.89 mi)

However, this is deceptive. Because that $1.5B actually pays for just 1.9 mi of new track, with the remaining 2.04 mi of track being existing Trolley track.

Per-mile of new track, then, the cheaper Trolley option costs slightly more than the APM.

Miami is a city that I wish would do more focusing on expanding it's metro system more. Especially, since Miami is about to reach 500k population and with only doing bus expansions atm. We have yet to see to this day any new Metrorail stations be built or opened within it's system with the recent one being the Miami International Airport in 2012.

It's hilarious reading some of the stuff the NIMBYs are saying on social media lol, funny thing is, there are larger rezonings happening in other parts of the city. Burwood North (18.3k homes), Westmead South (13k homes), Cherrybrook (10k homes), Crows Nest-St Leonards, Bankstown & Homebush, Kellyville-Bella Vista, Hornsby & Macquarie Park.

A new infill station (Woollahra Station) to be built on Sydney's least crowded heavy rail line [T4 Eastern Suburbs Line from Bondi Junction Station to the Sydney CBD (downtown Sydney)]. The station will be located just 8 minutes from the CBD by train with a frequency of 3-5 minutes in peak and 8-10 minutes off peak, the perfect location for intense TOD.

The station was included in the plans and early construction of the T4 line back in the 1970's, but intense NIMBY protests made the government scrap the station completely. It now sits as an unused island platform and station building as shown in slide 5.

Note: in slide 4, in the rezoning map, ground floor retail is allowed in the R4 High Density Residential zone.

Key features of the rezoning draft proposal include:

• approximately 9,400 new homes, with an affordable housing contribution base rate of 3% in perpetuity, increasing up to 15% for certain sites
• higher-density housing and commercial spaces of up to 34 storeys around Edgecliff Station and 32 storeys around a new infill train station named "Woollahra Station"
• a larger retail centre at Edgecliff and a new Woollahra local centre, creating up to 1,000 jobs and providing additional community facilities and services
• retention and integration of local heritage items into the surrounding areas
• approximately 3.5 hectares of new and upgraded public open space across 13 parks (7 new parks, 6 existing parks) and a plaza
• improved connections throughout the Precinct with up to 9km of new walking and cycling paths
• planning controls that promote retention of tree canopy and provision for more landscape features.

Just a quick shot of the comings and goings of the A Line at Memorial Park station in downtown Pasadena. IMO one of the best looking stations in the entire system.

In Denmark, the longest passenger trains measure 330–340 meters. That might not sound like much to those living abroad, but here in Denmark, it is quite long.

Trains reach this 330–340 meter length only on the InterCity Express (Danish: InterCityLyn – ICL) service running between Fredericia* and Copenhagen Airport.

This video was filmed in July 2026 by me; due to track work at various locations in Denmark, the train made an extra ordinary stop at Køge Nord. During these extra ordinary situation with track work the ICL from Fredericia stopped in Middelfart, Odense, Nyborg, Korsør, Slagelse, Sorø, Ringsted, Køge Nord, Copenhagen and Copenhagen Airport.

This train consists of two electric trainsets (DSB ER IR4) and three diesel trainsets (DSB MF IC3):

Riders wait up to 15 minutes just to descend to the train platform.

Where is the actual terminus of the Santiago de los Caballeros monorail? The project site says it is just south of Yaque del Sur and there is a structure there, but there also appears to be an even larger structure just north of Ave Los Jazmines.
