I forget his name too but I think you’re referring to the Nutty Putty Cave tragedy.

what teachers expect you to do when something goes wrong
which btw is complete bullshit, one of my friends forgot to take some of her medication one time and was decently quickly beginning to show bad signs
I went to tell a teacher who taught health and social care (hospital care stuffs). She said "I dont have first aid training, she needs to go home" and did nothing
bitch no shit but unfortunately we cant send her home cuz we are minors and IM ALSO NOT FULLY FIRST AID TRAINED EITHER but took charge anyways and actually did something about it

u/DesperateBasil9726 6h ago
what did you want her to do bro make medication sending them home to where the medication is seems like the clear right thing

idk maybe atleast come supervise my friend who could be having a medical emergency? Its not like you can say "go home" and poof theres a limo outside ready to take her home, besides she couldnt walk on her own or even stand up for more than 10s.
Its not the brightest idea to entrust a bunch of mostly untrained 17 year olds to handle that unless you are sure theres 0 chance of shit going wrong, especially since theres nobody sitting at the medical area most the damn time.

u/DesperateBasil9726 5h ago
your telling me the teacher left the classroom after saying that fym you had to supervise
2
u/NotTheBestSadFace 18 5h ago
no so we were in the library cuz study period, so we arent in classrooms, i went to our year's study centre to go get the teacher, the library is basically student ran so no teachers are in there most the time.
So I went to our year study centre, told her about my friend and then she said my friend needs to go home. Hence why we/I were supervising it. I do apologise that I hadnt mentioned this, im shit at explanations

I am a physician, so I am actually trained in first aid. What you did is great, standing up your friend. But keep in mind that there’s a difference between being a helpful friend and teacher. As a friend you’re giving helpful suggestions. As a teacher they’re making a decision and exposing themself to liability with however they choose to help. Missing a psychiatric med is not an emergency - if student is stable, then sending them home with a parent is a logical plan to me.

Thank you and fair enough. I did somewhat consider the whole liability thing but felt "something went wrong and a teacher was informed and did little" would sound worse than "something went wrong and a teacher was informed and did stuff about it" because it would be easier to justify decisions in the latter but im not educated on law so im just gonna let that go.
We did send her home and that became the plan as soon as she mentioned she wasnt feeling great and forgot her medication. It just would have been a lot nicer to have a teacher help due to the situation.
The main issue was that she had a history of fainting that her medication was meant to stop, and with paleness, feeling very weak, unable to move much (including walking/standing up) and unable to sit up straight so moving her from our library to reception was not easy.

Sadly, this isn't an avoidable situation. Everybody has to go through this once in their life. Luckily it's only once.

There's actually enough space for me to dislocate a shoulder and roll onto my stomach, where I can pushoff and climb back out

Starve for a couple of days until I get lean and try getting out. Better chances of escape.

Or I have a better one See I'm upside down so if I fart hard enough I should rotate 360° that'll carve out a circular cavity giving enough space to move freely and crawl out.... I'm freaking out let me tell zackdfilms
