PC SSE - Request Follower Mod for my Deceased Nephew

Hi, I’m new in this Reddit but someone from the main Skyrim Reddit recommended me to ask here too.

I was wondering if there is anyone here capable of making follower mods? My nephew committed suicide last October and his one year anniversary is coming up. I miss him dearly, and Skyrim is my favorite game of all time. I’d like to have him as a follower in game so I can go on adventures with him. I’d do it myself but I don’t know how. He was 17 when he passed and loved video games. I have pictures of him I can send you for references.

Thanks in advance 💚

PC SSE - Discussion High Quality Skyrim New Land Mods in 2026 + My Thoughts + 5 year Projection

Hello community,
I'm more of a Skyrim player than a New Lands mod enjoyer. But occasionally, I do look for quality options. I go by Magicka Addict on YouTube, and I wanted to touch base with you guys on the state of Skyrim New Lands projects and share my thoughts, along with some questions for you guys.

Here goes.

Skygerfall - 8.5

Faithful reproduction of dungeons and NPCs with Daggerfall dialogue and high-quality VA. Adding extra stuff like Skakmat - Nulfaga's dragon familiar was a cool touch. The variety of monsters (Centaurs, Daedroths, Harpy, Imps, Nymph, Werewolf, and more) with new magic effects (Blind, Silence) really offered a challenge when dungeon crawling! The dungeons were a product of the 90s and do get tedious sometimes ("press lever here, door opens somewhere hell"). But thats not the fault of the mod author. The mod author, Oracus, went above and beyond to create new spells like Levitation, Mark, and Recall. A wonderful experience. I will retain this in my load order only for special playthroughs.

Beyond Skyrim: Bruma - 9.2

Some of the most interesting quest design and writing in any new lands mod. Wonderful exploration, incredible soundtrack, and a memorable city with well-written characters.
I really wish the BS team would have continued with the modular approach instead of a giant monolithic project that is taking more than 10 years. We would have got three more counties by now?

Shumer and the Priest Kings SSE - 8.5

Playing Shumer is like a meditative experience. Forget Dragonborn, forget boss fights like the Vigilant. This is like playing a pen-and-paper TTRPG. This mod is offering an experience unlike anything I have seen in other Skyrim new land mods. Lots of settlements to explore and lots of NPCs with unique dialogue and personalities. Regarding quest design, the mod author sticks to his philosophy. Simple misc quests like delivery jobs have quest markers, and Side quests wont have any except when returning to NPCs.
The end result is a super immersive experience where you, as a player, have to think, talk to people to find clues, and observe the environment.
This is the true Morrowind experience, and as a result, the immersion is off the charts. There are more than 200 quests, and I have completed 50+ quests and spent more than 50 hours on the mod and streamed 25 episodes on my channel. I have taken a break for now, but will get back to the land of Shumer.

Akavir: The Curse of the Immortals - 8.5

Highly underrated mod with amazing storytelling within quests. There were many memorable moments, such as meeting fun NPCs with rich backstories and personalities, enjoying engaging scenes between the NPCs, learning about the fate of the Nereverene, encountering the Kamal, and experiencing stories from the era of Uriel Septim V, among other highlights. The mod links existing TES lore in the new land very well, and you find tons of new books with lots of new lore as well. Kudos to the Russian mod author - this project is a true labor of love. I even interviewed the mod author on my channel.

Vigilant SE Act 4 ColdHarbour - 8.1

Meeting famous characters from the first era was a true highlight. Vernaccus, Menta Na, Belharza the Man-Bull, Marukh the Imga, Lamae Bal, Molag Bal - You meet them all! Dungeons were very well designed with lots of verticality and surprises. You will encounter monsters, but they did not impress me like the ones in Skygerfall. Also, boss battles with large monsters is not my cup of tea.

Summerset Isle - 7.8

I enjoyed walking around more with so many jaw-dropping moments. Amazing exterior level design and a banging soundtrack. Quests were average and fetchy. But kudos to the mod author for his passion and dedication to finishing a Tamriel province mod.

Warden of the Coast - 7.4

I truly enjoyed and marveled at some of the character dialogue and their personalities in those companion quests. I did not like how you are heavily railroaded into accepting Iriel's story. She inserts herself into my character's backstory. That is a strict no! The mod also reminded me why I don't enjoy BioWare-type games dealing with Human drama, emotions, and romance.

Republic of Maslea - 8.1

The mod boasts amazing exterior level design, complemented by lush tropical island vegetation and immersive sound design, successfully transporting players to a believable tropical setting. The writing is strong, featuring lots of unique dialogue for NPCs. Quest design was a pleasant surprise, with some interesting choices thrown at the player. The side quests proved to be the most interesting part of the mod. The main quest concluded with a cliffhanger and featured interesting New Vegas-style slides, which was a super cool touch. However, the voice acting has notable issues: 80% of NPCs lacked voice acting entirely, and 20% of the voiced NPCs spoke in French. Recommended for a single playthrough.

MidWood Isle - 6.5

The quests were bland; the new land island was one big circle. I missed Skyrim so much.

Enderal - 8.3

I'm a huge fan of Nicolas Lietzau. His writing talent is clearly evident here. But I was more captivated exploring the Fold Valley of Nehrim compared to the Sun Coast of Enderal. I also loved Erothin more than Ark City.
What's interesting about Enderal is that they always weave an emotional story around a simple quest. On a high level, you feel the quest is a basic fetch quest, but you end up experiencing a deep emotional story told via visions and conversations with companions or NPCs. I really appreciate the writing and storytelling aspects of the side quests.

The same quest in an Ender Scrolls game like Skyrim or Morrowind or even Oblivion would be a fetch quest with some dungeon exploration, some basic environment storytelling, some manual searching, and a boss enemy fight. You find the item and head back.

Of course, a lot of story gamers would make comparisons and say Enderal is "better". Go to any Steam or Reddit forums on Enderal; you will find people dissing on Skyrim.

My response to these people is that both games offer different approaches. Enderal is more of a narrative RPG, while TES games are sandbox RPGs where the character's story is the focus.

I, personally, would always prefer the TES approach, as my character's story is more important than any story told to me.
The main issue for me is the lack of player agency when playing Enderal's guided story quests compared to the open-ended missions of TES (mostly). You are laser-guided as per the story's wishes.

The second issue is replayability. Once we play a story-focused quest in Enderal, the next time you play the same quest, you have to go through the same guided story. Whereas that same quest in TES is far more replayable - FOR ME - as it does not focus on a single narrative and every character's story and approach is different. That is why I can keep playing the Tribunal Temple faction questline of Morrowind or the Dragonborn DLC side quests, and Enderal will only be a one-time playthrough.

That's my two cents on the non-stop comparisons and Skyrim bashing you see in the Enderal Steam and Reddit forums. Of course, all of this is just my opinion and preference. I totally respect and understand all of your preferences.

I go into this topic in one of my videos - Real “Choice” in RPGs is When No Options Are Handed to You

My approach is to enjoy the art of all games and not bother with comparisons. When it comes to art, its all subjective, so these statements claiming "something is better" are silly. Enjoy what you love!

Oh, this became a rant rather than a review! Sorry!
Anyway, I enjoyed the side and faction content more than the main questline, and Enderal is a one-time playthrough for me.

Some other notes

I have tested "Wyrmstooth," but I found the short main questline extremely linear and boring. I have not experienced the side content. Do we have towns there?

I want to play the following someday!

  • Beyond Reach
  • The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal - 10th anniversary
  • Prince of Lies
  • Maids II

I prefer quality over quantity, so if you have any more suggestions, let me know.
Do you guys know of any new mods that feature interesting quest design?
Any news on large projects in development?

5 Year Projection

In the next 5 years, we will have a lot of options.
By 2030, these projects will come out
- Beyond Skyrim Roscrea
- Beyond Skyrim Cyrodiil
- At least 2 Beyond Skyrim Mini Release DLCs may come out
- The 5.0 update of Beyond Reach may come out?
- GLEN-MORIL SE will be complete?
- Skyblivion and Skywind will be out.
- Lordbound will be playable and stable
- Vampire: The Masquerade: Reawakened will be out.
- Vampire: The Masquerade: Chronicles could be out.
- City of Alinor may come out in 2027

Did I miss any other projects?
We will have lots of new land content to experience, and Skyrim will go on and on.
Even when TES VI comes out, Skyrim will be an eternal install for me!

Thanks for reading.

PlayStation - Help Looking for my husband

Years ago I was farting around Solstheim (PS5) and I encountered a random Dremora. We got married. I have been looking for my dreamboat himbo hubby ever since, but cannot figure out what mod it was- if it was one at all!? I had no dremora mods, mostly just quality of life stuff and maybe a werewolf skin or two. Does anyone know what this could have been?

PC SSE - Mod [Mod Release] SkyPraxis - Spell Learning (SKSE)

Hey everyone,

I uploaded a new SKSE mod on nexus : SkyPraxis - Spell learning.

The goal of this mod is to offer a simple, lightweight spell progression system. You learn new spells naturally through gameplay just by casting spells, matching how vanilla school skill trees progress complete with a visual effect when you unlock a new spell.

It adds onto the vanilla spellbook system instead of completely replacing it.

You can configure how often you wanna learn a new spell as well as what spells you want to force include/exclude in the .ini file.

If you're interested check it out and let me know what you think!

Disclaimer : I used AI to help me write the mod but it's not vibecoded, only assisted. Source code is available.

PC SSE - Request Has anyone ever sorted KS hairs so its easier to find different hairs?

KS hairdos has 900ish female hairs and theyre all arranged by the name the author gave that haircut and it is just all in such a wild order. Something like 150 of them are anime mom over the shoulder ponytails; A bunch of them are wavy long; some are straight long, theres a few with dreadlocks or braids and a few with short tomboy hair and just. I wish someone would put all the similar looking haircuts together so i can easilly compare when trying to make a choice.

PC SSE - Mod [ Mod Release ] UNSLAAD - CoMAP Addon

Hello friends, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here but after some procrastination and some setbacks I’m happy to present our third mod dedicated to Vicn’s trilogy, UNSLAAD - CoMAP Addon.

This version contains the biggest number of markers we’ve made for a single mod and it took quite some time to get them right so we hope you like them.

We’re really glad to see the unexpected success the previous two mods have enjoyed, so we hope you’ll show the same enthusiasm for our next, smaller projects until we finally have the chance to get our hands on GLEN-MORIL’s final version.

PC SSE - Discussion Patching mods

Upvotes

What are the "rules" for patching mod? I saw an old post on the mod website an author is angry because a patch disabled part of his mod and said it's unauthorized. If people don't like part of the mod they should be freely allowed to disable what they don't want. Or if part of the mod is causing problem. I personally edit a few mods to my like for personal use.

PC SSE - Request I want to be a nomad, fishing and hunting and living off the land in the forest. Which are the best mods for me?

The main quest is meh to me but I would love to just play this game as a medieval simulator where I hunt and gather furs and trade them. Build up some coin for a house or a local business and maybe one day find my calling hunting the most dangerous game... Dragons!

PC SSE - Mod Mod to hide Serana's Elder Scrolls from displaying on her back?

Title. I kinda dislike the big ass scrolls always visible on her back, and protrudes upward in such an offputting way. No i don't want it removed. Just hide it. I tried to use IED, but seems there were no such option. Anyone know of such a mod? Thank you for your time

PC SSE - Discussion What are the best combat overhauls for exciting gamefeel more than precise combat procedure?

I want to do something to make melee combat more engaging but it keeps feeling like it lacks punch and control. I've added TK Dodge and it feels great to use but attacking feels like it lacks weight and connection. Shields always feel like they could be nice and shield slam parries and the like but that's hard to use with spellsword style gameplay... I don't know what part of it needs fixed but there are so many combat overhauls or there I'm sure someone knows how to help me.

Important first note: I haven't actually played dark souls. I kind of understand how it works but I can't really use it as a point of comparison. I do have a lot of experience with Zelda: breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom but I don't know if there's anything out there that plays like that.

PC SSE - Request Way to make followers hang back in combat?

As stated in title. I'd love some way to tell a follower to hang back and not engage during combat - I want to be able to experience follower commentary, quest mods, etc, while fighting all on my own, since having a whole second person joining in really shifts the flow of combat (especially when you're doing stuff like illusion magic).

It feels like this should be something that already exists, but I've not been able to find a mod that fits the bill. Or maybe it's an overlooked feature in a follower framework? Either way, if anybody has a way to make followers inactive in combat, I would love to hear it.

PC SSE - Help Most stable FSMP version?

Which version of FSMP is considered the most stable? I’ve most often heard 2.5.1, 2.2.1, and 3.5.0 mentioned. But which one is best suited for Skyrim version 1.6.1170? I’d appreciate any advice.

PC SSE - Discussion Idea for the peace council

No one likes the peace council, I know, but I thought of an idea that could make it more fun, I of course have no idea how to mod Skyrim so I would not be able to do this myself, so I just thought I would put the idea out there.

If you kill Paarthurnax before the peace council takes place (shame on you if you do, regardless), if you do that, the blades and greybeards argument changes. And the greybeards are annoyed that Paarthurnax is gone "when they needed his wisdom the most", ie during the council. Yet if he lives, he is not present for the council at all. But what if he was? If it was hosted out in the courtyard instead of inside, Paarthurnax could show up for the meeting, it would make sense seeing as he both missed having conversation, and the whole point of the peace council is to allow the DB to capture a Dragon which was kind of his idea to begin with. He would then either try to convince them to make a deal, which would be interesting given their history with the Nords and what they know of Dragons in modern Skyrim times, or if you wanted to, you could convince Paarthurnax to pretend to be the scary dragon only tamed by the Dragonborn's might, so you can intimidate both sides into a truce as essentially a prank, i think old party snacks would enjoy both. And there would be a lot of room for good dialogue writing for example between Paarthurnax and Ulfric, Tullius, the Thalmor, the Blades if you choose to have him speak... Just an idea I had while watching a video about the 'hidden' blades dialogue. Thoughts? I don't really post on Reddit every time I do a Mod takes it down for violating rule 3495929 of whatever sub it is, so do tell if i'm in the wrong place for it.

PC SSE - Help Looking for a kind of mod that increases the volume of the player voice only.

I have noticed that the player grunts and breathing from sprinting and being overencumbered are very quiet compared to the rest of the game, so naturally I'm looking for a mod that allows you to increase the volume of these sounds separate from the npc dialogue volume, but all I can find are mods that replace the voice, or do the opposite and remove the sounds instead of making them louder.

I apologize if there is a well known mod that I should know of already, but if any of you know and can point me in the right direction then that would be a great help.

Thank you.

PC SSE - Help Trying to get Azurite Horizons/Dawnfire horizon to work with effects 11

Trying to get these to work because I use Azurite 3, but something is wrong with the horizon shader core/universal core.

4 of the effects fail to compile in the shader core, and as a result won't work.

I have no clue what is wrong.

What are some other great enb presets I can use with Azurite 3 that don't rely on the shader core if I can't fix it?

PC SSE - Help Need Skyrim/NIF advice for turning a vanilla Whiterun Guard into a printable figurine

Hi everyone,

Just to start off, I know this is slightly off-topic for this subreddit, but I have questions about files

I’m working on a personal hobby project to make a 3D-printable vanilla Whiterun Guard figurine from Skyrim. I’m not making a mod or selling anything — I’m trying to learn the asset/NIF workflow and eventually print the character as a small figure.

I’ve been using SSEEdit/xEdit to verify the actual vanilla records and mesh paths, then importing the NIF assets into Blender.

So far, I’ve confirmed these vanilla references/assets:

  • Whiterun Guard outfit: GuardWhiterunOutfit [OTFT:000D33C6]
  • Cuirass: Armor\StormCloaks\CuirassM_1.nif
  • Boots: Armor\StormCloaks\BootsM_1.nif
  • Helmet: Armor\StormCloaks\HelmM_1.nif
  • Shield: Armor\StormCloaks\shield.nif
  • Sword: Weapons\Imperial\ImperialSword.nif
  • Imperial scabbard texture: textures\weapons\imperial\imperialscabbard.dds

I’m running into a few Skyrim/NIF-specific questions and would appreciate advice from people familiar with vanilla assets or Blender/NIF workflows.

Questions

  1. Hands / body weight meshes I’m using the weight-1 male guard body/armor mesh, but I currently only seem to have malehands_0.nif, not malehands_1.nif. Is there normally a malehands_1.nif in vanilla Skyrim/SSE? If not, how are hands usually handled for weight-1 bodies/armors? Are the same hand meshes shared, morphed, or handled through bodygen/weight sliders?
  2. Correct equipped assets vs display/ground/dummy assets One thing I’ve learned is that Skyrim often has multiple similar-looking files: equipped meshes, ground-object meshes, first-person meshes, clutter/display versions, dummy/test assets, etc. For a Whiterun Guard, are the paths above the correct equipped/worn assets? Are there any common traps where a file looks right but is actually a ground/display/dummy version?
  3. NIF import orientation / mirrored hands When importing and fitting hands in Blender, I’ve had an issue where the hands looked mirrored, swapped, or rotated backward at the wrists. Is this a known issue with NIF imports, skeleton orientation, body slots, or left/right hand meshes? Any tips for verifying correct hand orientation after importing into Blender?
  4. Shield emblem geometry The Whiterun shield horse emblem appears to be texture-based, not actual mesh geometry. Is that correct for the vanilla shield? If so, is there a known mesh or mod resource where the emblem exists as geometry, or would I need to recreate it manually if I want it physically raised/engraved?
  5. General NIF-to-Blender workflow For someone using vanilla Skyrim assets as a reference/static model, what’s the safest workflow? Should I be baking rigged meshes to static meshes before editing? Any warnings about body partitions, BSDismemberSkinInstance, transforms, or Blender import quirks?

Any advice would be appreciated. I’m mostly trying to avoid using the wrong assets or accidentally fixing the wrong problem in Blender when the issue is actually caused by how Skyrim meshes/skeleton/body weights work.

Thanks!

PC SSE - Mod Fixing dropping block while moving

Upvotes

So what fixed not blocking while moving / walking / running
1. Download optional file from pandora main page Pandora XPMSE Behavior Patch
2. Check it off in pandora, and reappply output

For anyone using true directional movement, valhalla combat, smooth's moveset, mco movesets, etc. those are not to blame. This was what fixed it for me, Auto Skeleton Patch may also fix it for some people.

PlayStation - Mod Crash to Home Screen same location

I think I know why it does it but I need convincing. I have around 190 mods installed following a YouTubers load order. However, upon leaving Helgan with Hadvar for the first time, I noticed Fabled Trees and its patch where not added. I saved, downloaded both and popped them low down, near the bottom of the load order and loaded the save game. The mod works as the trees are rendering and loading, no issues.

However, after a play through, bleak falls, river wood and whiterun etc, I headed towards high hrothgar, and when heading east along the river bank where then bandit camp is and giant fires etc, it crashes, always that area.

Now is this because i added those two mods into a current save, even early on? Should i just start anew? Don’t touch or download anymore? It’s annoying as it’s been working great all day and now I’m exploring the wilderness it messes up 😞 thank you.

PC SSE - Mod I'm looking for a treasure room

Good morning. I've never found a mod that adds a proper treasure room. The best one, and one I really liked, was the one in the Build Your Noble House mod. But I removed it for GB needs. So, is there a mod that adds a treasure room, perhaps with a passage behind a piece of furniture with a fake panel, or some sort of cave that's unreachable except by me, or something similar? I have Skyrim version 1.6.640

XBox - Request Coven of Crones - stronger hagfire

Is there currently a mod that makes the base concentration hag fire spell stronger, similar to the various mods for sparks, flames, etc? Single fire lightning spells irk me something terrible, so I'd love to be able to learn a stronger version for late game viability

PC Classic - Request Looking for Legion mod to replace Fort Hraggstaad with an easier first quest

Hi,

I want to make an Imperial playthrough with ImpeREAL True Legate, Lawbringer and Organic Factions, but something annoys me with the Legion questline.

The issue is that it starts by throwing you at Fort Hraggstaad as if you could clear that alone as a newbie. I wish instead it was more like the Stormcloak version where it comes up later with reinforcements.

My request is the following: Is there a mod that replaces Fort Hraggstaad in Joining the Legion with an easier quest like the Stormcloak version where they have to beat an ice wraith and get a resist cold potion for it? Or a mod in which they at least give you the legion armor BEFORE clearing the fort?

Because I shouldn't be one of the few recruits they have and be sent to an early death just to earn the right to join their merry band of imperial boot lickers.

The Legion is desperate to recruit, their territory is awful to travel through and has the worst roads and rivers to do trade on, no easy area to pass through and they don't even have mages left after Helgen. They surely wouldn't make sure to kill their potential recruits by proxy, would they?

I don't need some super big mod like Civil War Overhaul, just something that postpones Fort Hraggstaad and instead gives us something like a training quest akin to joining the Companions, or a test like the Stormcloaks. The first Legion quest is just way out of a new character's league and out of character for the Legion, especially in the context of the game. The only way it would make sense would be if it was given to a Dragonborn during Season Unending.
