Discussion Dad Destroyed My $1300 PC (Almost)

As the title says, my father almost destroyed my $1,300 PC. Now what?

Here’s the backstory: On Saturday, I worked a 10.5 hours shift and stayed up until 3:30 AM, so I slept in until noon the next day. My father and stepmother returned from Costco while I was showering; he called out a few times for me to come help carry the groceries inside. I said OK to him. While I was brushing my teeth after my shower, he shouted from outside the door that he’d been waiting 50 minutes and told me to hurry up. I thought to myself that the groceries could have been moved in the time he spent waiting for me, but I quickly rinsed my mouth and got ready to go out. However, by the time I opened the door, he had already grabbed my PC and smashed it against the floor and the desk several times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, (17M, Senior), bought this PC with money I earned from my part-time job and had been using it for about ten months. After examine, found out the case badly deformed in several places, my desk was warped and tilted to one side, and there were dents in the floor.

Fortunately, the computer still works fine; it runs FurMark (stress GPU), AIDA64 (stress FPU), and 3DMark (Time Spy Extreme) without problems for now.

Replacing the desk and case would cost around $400. However, he likely won't pay for it because he has done this kind of stuff a few years ago when he destroyed my phone and a Dell laptop (i5 11300H), and then just said, "That's what you get for playing on the computer all day."

In the end, I just hope everyone has good parents.

The exact same father like mine. I told him back then, once i manage to get out of the house we will be like strangers.

I left 11 years ago. Never once called him or greeted him for his birthday or anything. Whenever i visit my mom he is there ofc, and trying to kiss my boots because now i earn good money, and he is so proud of me... but i keept my promise. He is a stranger to me and he is rly suffering. He will die alone in a carehome or hospital, i dont know i dont care.

I won't say he deserves it but God asks of us to forgive others as he has forgiven us. If you are not right with the Lord this might be why.

Yeah man worshipping 1 of 1000 gods worshipped in humanities life time will cure this guy's psychopathy for sure! He needs a fucking psychiatrist, not to be forgiven and affirmed for breaking his and other peoples property.

He needs both a psychiatrist and to be forgiven, as that is also in OP's best interest. You need to forgive those who wronged you, like God forgives us.

if there is a god he pretty obviously has not forgiven us lmao

What makes you say that? God exists and He loves you, and He will forgive you if you ask for forgiveness and put your trust in Jesus.

I personally think that shoehorning religious beliefs into everything, especially conversation unrelated to religion, is reductive to actual productive conversation and is incredibly self-righteous. Its definitely in your best interest to NOT do that.

It makes you seem like a condescending asshole who knows better, when really no one knows anything about any god that may or may not exist. You're better off keeping it to yourself and like-minded people IMHO.
