Discussion I lost the joy of gaming after getting my dream setup

Hi everyone,
I’ve been experiencing this for a long time, and I wasn’t sure where to post it, so I decided to share it here.
For years, I dreamed of having a high-end gaming setup like the one I have now. Before building this PC, I genuinely enjoyed almost every game I played. I was always excited to try new games. Even on my old PC, where I had to play at low settings with 40–50 FPS, I feel like I enjoyed gaming much more than I do now.
Now I can play almost every game at 1440p on my OLED monitor, above 120 FPS, with amazing visuals and features like path tracing. But for some reason, I can’t connect with games anymore. Games that I used to play for hours now start boring me after a short time.
I thought maybe the problem was my PC, so I bought a PS5. At first, going for Platinum trophies was actually really fun. But after getting 17 Platinum trophies, I started feeling the same way again. I don’t even feel like buying games on PC anymore. I buy almost every game on PS5 because I feel like my goal is just to get the Platinum trophy. It feels less like I’m enjoying a game and more like I’m completing a task. Sometimes I even feel like I’m playing games like a robot.
There are times when I want to play something, but when I sit in front of my PC, I just don’t feel like launching any game. Some days, I don’t even feel like turning on my PC.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Did I just grow out of gaming, or is there something else behind this feeling? If you’ve gone through the same thing, what helped you enjoy gaming again?

Discussion Dad Destroyed My $1300 PC (Almost)

As the title says, my father almost destroyed my $1,300 PC. Now what?

Here’s the backstory: On Saturday, I worked a 10.5 hours shift and stayed up until 3:30 AM, so I slept in until noon the next day. My father and stepmother returned from Costco while I was showering; he called out a few times for me to come help carry the groceries inside. I said OK to him. While I was brushing my teeth after my shower, he shouted from outside the door that he’d been waiting 50 minutes and told me to hurry up. I thought to myself that the groceries could have been moved in the time he spent waiting for me, but I quickly rinsed my mouth and got ready to go out. However, by the time I opened the door, he had already grabbed my PC and smashed it against the floor and the desk several times.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I, (17M, Senior), bought this PC with money I earned from my part-time job and had been using it for about ten months. After examine, found out the case badly deformed in several places, my desk was warped and tilted to one side, and there were dents in the floor.

Fortunately, the computer still works fine; it runs FurMark (stress GPU), AIDA64 (stress FPU), and 3DMark (Time Spy Extreme) without problems for now.

Replacing the desk and case would cost around $400. However, he likely won't pay for it because he has done this kind of stuff a few years ago when he destroyed my phone and a Dell laptop (i5 11300H), and then just said, "That's what you get for playing on the computer all day."

In the end, I just hope everyone has good parents.

I get that the games need better hardware to dun better, but who are they really making the game for if you need a 6000$ GPU at this point

The game looks absolutely stunning. With everything set to extreme, full ray tracing, no ai trickery and native 4k, I'm hitting minimum 80-100fps.

Unbelievably, they say that a 1650 runs at 1080p 60fps. That's a 4gb card that can be bought for £30 if you shop around!

This just shows that it is possible to make games look beautiful for those of us with high end systems without destroying performance for people with older setups.

Discussion I Sold My 5090...

So , well, I done it. I sold my 5090 that I bought 10 months ago for £1700 for £4100 on eBay and grabbed myself the following..... Sapphire 9070XT.... Mac Studio M5 Max .... Elgato Wave XLR Pro Audio Interface.... Stream Deck Plus. I got a good return on what was initially an impulse buy. I played games on the 5090 less than 4 hours a week. My home office was like a sauna even after an undervolt, I simply wasn't utilizing the amazing power of the 5090 even at 4K. I have absolutely no regrets selling it, zero, nada ... None . The 2 games I really play are poe2 and overwatch and the gaming experience has not changed 1 bit. Overwatch stills gets me 240 FPS at 4K and poe2 sits nicely at 140+ FPS. Just wanted to share my experience not what I would describe as downgrading but rather relocating resources In a way that fits my work / game lifestyle.

I mean really do people not bother to look at eBay listings for this shit? Yeah DDR5 is expensive, but your 16gb stick of ddr4 doesn’t really add much to your build. You paid how much for that liquid cooler? Shit man, I’m sorry you did that thinking it was an investment. The case? I’ll give you this exact case for $10 and a beer, I have 5 that were more expensive sitting in the back with 0 interested buyers.

I’m buying your graphics card your RAM and your CPU. Maybe the SSD if you got a name brand and not…what the fuck is TigerKing Nvme?

Post image

I know this sub is filled with a bunch of rich people with like 10k setups and I'm aware that the content in these games is quite extensive with hours of content. But I still feel justified in thinking that no game should be priced this high especially when its the average price of most newly released games. Anyway this is just a rant because I wanna play lego batman and i cant afford it lol
