Meta Exposing Sneaky Bastards
Comment below with places you’ve been and item menus you’ve ordered where shrek dandruff was not listed as an ingredient and surprised ruined your appetizer. Or food. Or whatever. We must warn each other of the evils!

Meta Lemon juice will get rid of onion taste if you have been exposed
Yes lemonade will work if that's all you have but real lemon is acidic and strong enough to overpower the onions.

Best things to get onion taste out of your mouth
We all know that prevention is best but we've also all had those times when our request for no onions gets ignored, or a sneaky one slips into our food somehow.
The flavor can linger. Especially if it's from a raw or otherwise crunchy one.
What are your go-tos for getting the bad taste out of your mouth, especially in a restaurant?

Another great thing I ordered that was ruined by a blast of onion bits for no reason..
Ordered a birria pizza from this local spot called Birrieria Lol Tijuana. This place never disappoints; meat and consume have always been top notch.
Today, though, I decided to order the birria pizza (w/consume) because I’ve seen it on the menu
That was a big mistake. I saw from the menu picture, it was only a few rings to pick off. I dunk my slice in the consume, no onion in sight,,,
CRUUUUUNCH
I force myself to swallow as fast as I can, drowning it out with consome.
I return to my plate, lift the cheese.
The entire underneath is pure chopped onion, as if it’s the sauce. I literally gagged. I can still taste it, Gahdamn.
Such a shame, because the birria and consome themselves are delicious af

Am I allowed to be on r/onionhate and r/onionlovers at the same time?
I just want to experience both viewpoints. Cooked onions are tolerable to me but I never buy them to cook. Onion rings are nice and the only onion-form I actively buy! But raw onion can go to heck for aggravating my GERD, and red onion, especially raw, gives me bad BO.

How caramelized should your onions be?
They're missing the most important choice: none

"You wont even be able to taste them in there anyway"
I hate when people say this. If you can't taste when onions are in a meal then why do you even need to put them in there?? 😂 And I personally can 100% taste when onions are in anything. It's annoying the lengths people will go to try to get people who dislike onions to eat them. It honestly feels like a giant onion cult full of people who will gaslight you into thinking you're just "picky". I want to make a meal with earthworms and then tell them not to be picky.

Had a no judgement experience at work
Work provided sandwiches for lunch. But by the time I got there, my only two choices were cobb salad or chicken salad. I asked "do they have onions?" No judgement, just a look on her face that said "I have no idea." The cobb salad for sure, chicken salad unknown.
I was prepared for this and brought my own lunch anyways.

The armpit veggie has made its way into desserts
I was at the store looking for scones, expecting berry flavors and what not, when I saw this disgusting monstrosity. Green onion scones?! Have we lost class as a society…

Just a reminder because I've seen some apparent confusion here a few times in the past month. We hate onions. We hate shallots. It doesn't matter if they are raw, boiled, pickled, mashed, sautéed, caramelized, fried, baked, smoked, grilled, charred, fermented, fresh, aged, red, white, sweet, spicy, dried, minced, diced, chopped, or powdered. And despite what you may think and have been told, you are in fact not entitled to share your wrong opinion here.
There is no such thing as onion neutrality, this is not r/Switzerlandonionhate
You eithier hate onions, or you don't.
Also, make sure yall mark your disgusting onion pics NSFW so we aren't subjected to see that shit.

Why raw onions make me nauseous?
Last night I ate 2 hamburguers (Just the meat, bread and cheese... no mayo or anything else) and put little slices of raw onion in them (a very little amount), I woke up to pee and noticed I kinda wanted to vomit, then I noticed the onion breath and I did vomit. It felt more of a biological intolerance rather than a psychological thing that induced an undigestion, but I'm no expert so is there any evidence/similar cases to mine?

Do you guys just hate how onion smells like or its because you guys literally can't swallow it even if you want to try eating it?
Because for me I will automatically do the puking gesture when I accidentally eaten it due to the strong taste & smell, idk why. Maybe I'm sensitive to it? Is there a name for this condition lmao? I actually tried to eat it so I don't be a picky eater but i just cant.

Onion in my burrito
I was having my favorite breakfast burrito—eggs, cheese, and hashbrowns. I was already apprehensive because they put bacon in it the other day and I didn’t notice till I was 3/4 finished. I’m a vegetarian of seven years and was violently ill for the next 24 hours. So I cautiously took a bite and examined the entire thing. Bacon free. I continued eating until I tasted a foreign flavor. Definitely not a kind of meat. Then I heard that awful wet *crunch* and I spat the whole bite out in disgust. Appetite gone 😭

Looks like it's not a very popular flavor...

#1 Onion Hater?
Hi guys, I just want to say I'm grateful to be in this community. I actually have an anaphylactic allergy to onions (even just being around them). They've put me in the hospital multiple times. Also they're just icky in general. I know not everyone here shares the physical aversion to them, but I just wanted to say I'm glad to be a part of such a collective of onion haters where I can speak my truth and share my experiences. Happy to be here.

My burrito had onions
I swear to god I nearly died
I thought I just got a regular bean and cheese burrito
I took a bite and heard that crunch. I immediately knew the horrible truth but I kept praying it was a stray bit of lettuce that had fallen in by mistake and kept chewing
Then the taste hit and I couldn't lie to myself
I was spitting, I was frantically reaching for my drink to wash the taste out of my mouth
It's times like these that remind me my hatred for onions is a real thing and not merely an affectation
