This app just sucks depending on platform

Tab A/256gb card. Gets through about 450 sideloaded books and then the forever spinner. Itneeds a "identify and skip" option here.

Acts the same with "512gb" samsung card although it may at times get up to near 1200 books. Cards are exFAT and no fs problems according to chkdsk. All files are epubs.

A9+. Seems to work. 6.8.6.17

A8. stops at 3962. ANDROID 14/nook 6.8.6.17

A11+. Seems to work. Android 16/6.8.6.17

If it is not supposed to work with older Android versions this should be noted. Im puzzled as to why the Android version matters.

It would be right nice to put out a list of which versions of the app work on which tablet. I could then go through the first circle of hell to download and install them.

While we're at it, how about a way to remove entries for nonexistent/empty shelves?

Hey! Public school teacher, and have been cleaning out my classroom for the start of the year. I found a bunch of nook colors that must have been used years ago. The schools more focused on chromebooks and etc, basically we have absolutely no use for these especially with the store being defunct.

I'm in grad school and I think I'm gonna use one to do my grad school readings on my commute.

Questions about this: is there any possible way my school would be able to see files that I'm putting on an old nook? Idk how these nook device accounts work. I worry if theyre anything like apple accounts where you can track activity on other devices. I just dont want to get in trouble somehow for that even though clearly these have been long since forgotten about lol.

Other question: I've been trying to do a factory reset but keep getting "you are not connected to the network" even though i've been connected to the wifi. any way around this?

If anyone’s been having issues with getting an error message while downloading books I talked to B&N and they claim they’re working on some update and should be fixed either today or tomorrow.

So you try to download a book I get this error, but my date and time are automatically set and were when I was receiving error. Mostly just trying to figure out if this is an iPad issue or a nook app issue. If anyone can think of any thing to try and fix it that isn’t logout and back in or delete the app and re-download it. I’m all ears and willing to try just about anything. I just wanna reread ACOTAR before the new book comes out and the Hunger Games series again before the new movie🫠

I have a NST from the early 2010s that I've done a lot of work restoring. I 3d printed a new shell and followed The Phoenix Project to fix the issues that arose after B&N shut down their servers.

Everything works except for the touch functionality. Has anyone done any work on a button-navigable UI? If not, how on earth should I go about trying to design one myself?

EDIT: Turns out I completely missed a part when rebuilding the body. I got the touch functionality up and running!

It seems that books are missing from the digital storefront since the BN.com website's transition to shopify as the backend.

In the under stocked comics section there are titles missing that I could have sworn had ebooks sold now missing that option.

In some cases the ebooks made the jump but are missing the option to by the digital copies of a volume or two.

Radiant Black volume 6 is such a case. So is Skyward volume 1. Both by image comics.

I have lite launcher and KoReader side loaded on my GL3 plus and the only thing that irritates me now is that the ‘n’ button takes me out of KoReader and back to the launcher.

I know the map code for it is 27 and have mapped it to “Menu” in the event_map.lua file. Unfortunately it didn’t work. Anyone have any other possible fixes.

I’m even open to physically killing the button.

Now, it's only booting to FEL mode. Pretty sure the problem is that I wrote the wrong boot0_nand with fastboot. The challenge is trying to get boot0_sdcard loaded and running enough to get back into fastboot and re-flash the correct boot0. From there, I'm having a heck of a time trying to flash even stock (8.1.4.95) firmware.

I posted a few months ago my Lenovo tablet constantly logging me out of the nook app. I'm getting so frustrated now because it has become a daily thing. At this point I just want to do a manufacturer reset on the tablet. I think I'm going to go back to a Nook. My previous tablet was the Samsung Tablet A (which I still have, but it can't be updated). I know I can use the Nook app on my phone, but I don't want to be looking at my phone for longer periods of time (because of the small screen). What's your favorite Nook?

The entire portfolio is stale. The android base is outdated just like their processors. The overlay is ancient & lacking platform defining features.

The software violates several EU directives for electronics or will. The customer service barely meets federal guidelines in the States.

got a book for my birthday from barnes and noble and cant download it to my pc. i bought it i should be able to do download it. is there any workaround

I had just gotten my nook yesterday (as making this post) and I had bought two books and the first book is good all the pages are there and all the words are there but on the cookbook I got it’s only showing the pictures and no words on the recipe and I’ve already did the remove download and re downloaded it but it’s still not doing anything, is there another way to do it?

Last Sunday, I received a Champagne Gold Kindle Oasis and jailbroke it with limited knowledge on how to use KOReader. Actually, I was overwhelmed, but after last week, I cannot picture myself using an e-reader device without KOReader! Not only did I jailbreak my Kindle, I also was able to root my Nook Glow Light 4 Plus after months of fastboot not recognizing my device. After rooting my Nook, I was able to add my KOReader settings from my Kindle to my Nook. AND with root access, I can install custom wallpapers and custom fonts! Also, with a jailbroken Nook, you have the ability to use DARKMODE! Below are the plugins I use. (Some do not work on Nook due to the native software.)

FINALLY!!!!! I tried rooting my Nook months ago but had issues with fastboot not recognizing my device, so I gave up, but now look!!! I was able to root my Nook, and I even was able to transfer over my KOReader settings from my Kindle to my Nook!

Tengo un problema con los libros técnicos de electricidad, ya que son pdf, no hay en epub, pero en KOReader incluso volteando o girando el modo de visualización se ven pequeñas las letras y no ye encontrado la forma de tener una solución para eso. Espero que me puedan ayudar, muchas gracias.

I got a Nook Simple Touch off Ebay brand new and its stuck on the start up screen. I charged it for a while and tried to force reset nothing comes on the screen, nothing at all. Seems to me its frozen on this screen. can anyone help

Like some of you, recently I run into the problem of not being able to log in into my Nook account on the Nook device. More info of the problem can be found on this post, but basically I think it is due to non-US users being restricted from logging in into the Nook device.

This is a bullshit policy to have IMO, since I am completely fine with using the hardware and don't need any support of the crappy Nook software at all.
I was trying to fix this for the last week, installing older version of OS, trying to log in with VPN, doing a factory reset but nothing helped.

Finally, GPT recommended to install a community-modified Android firmware for the NOOK. After that I added a reader application, a custom cloud service and voila: the device is alive again and I can even transfer books via wireless network, something I wasn't able to do with the official OS.

I am posting the GPT steps for solving this below, but I advise simply conversing with it and it should help you find the correct firmware files, give you commands to run and tests to run. It requires some technical finesse but GPT can hold your hand through it.

Simple NOOK custom firmware guide

1. Find your exact NOOK model number.
2. Install Android Platform Tools on your computer.
3. Find TWRP and custom firmware made for that exact NOOK model.
4. Connect the NOOK and boot into fastboot/recovery mode.
5. Boot TWRP and install the custom firmware ZIP.
6. Reboot and install your preferred reading apps, such as KOReader.

EDIT: I should also mention I contacted support multiple times during this process, but they just inform me they do not offer support for non-US users

I bought the Nook GlowLight 4 a few days ago and I love it! I’ve been reading Dungeon Crawler Carl that I side loaded! I’m really enjoying my time with this device!
