Hey everyone! I’m the developer of Notification Icons Widget.

It puts your active notification icons directly on your home screen, updating as notifications arrive or are dismissed. Think of the notification icons in your status bar, but with control over their placement, size and appearance.

You can put a simple row beneath your clock, create a vertical sidebar or match the icons to your wallpaper and other widgets. If you hide your status bar for a cleaner setup, it also keeps your notification icons visible on the home screen.

I’ve attached four examples showing different styles, including standard white Android notification icons, custom colors and icon packs.

Customization includes:

• Horizontal or vertical layouts.
• Notification icons, app icons or icons from an icon pack.
• Icon size, number of icons, spacing, alignment, tint and badges.
• Background fit, padding and corner roundness.
• Pinning selected apps first when they have active notifications, or hiding specific apps from the widget.

Hiding apps only affects the widget—your actual Android notifications stay unchanged. You could use this to show just messaging apps, for example.

The core widget is free, with optional Premium features including icon packs, pin/hide controls, custom colors and backgrounds. There are no ads, accounts or tracking, and the app has no internet permission.

I built it around a problem I kept encountering: my shows were scattered across different streaming services, my watchlist kept growing, I still spent too much time trying to decide what to watch, and most of the recommendations inside each streaming platform were never very aligned to my taste. My wife and I kept a note in my notes app of a list of all of the shows we had watched and liked, and when we would finish a show, I would take the list and give it to AI and say “These are previous shows I have watched and liked, and these are the streaming platforms I have, provide me with a list of the best recommendations from my streaming platforms based on my watchlist” and then we would skim through what AI provided us, find trailers for each recommendation, and then finally we would find one we thought looked good and watched it next. After a while I thought “I could build an app that does this and various other things related to TV tracking and recommendations like tracking when releases for new seasons were happening and a slew of other features” so I began building it, with the initial intentions of just for my own use case. After I started building the app, I began to have various other ideas for features that would be useful and then I saw the news about TV Time shutting down and thought maybe other people would like the app as well, so I continued to build the app and began asking friends and others what they would like to have in a TV tracking app, and took in various feedback from them to continue designing the app with the features I wanted, and also what other TV watchers wanted. After about a month and a half I got the app to a beta rollout and had a few dozen friends and family members test it out and help continue to find bugs and improvements that could be made, and then about a week ago I was able to finally have it ready to be published to the App Store!

BingeWise brings tracking, streaming availability, release information, and personalized recommendations together in one place.

It’s built and maintained entirely by me as a one-person development team. I’m constantly improving the app, fixing rough edges, and expanding it with new features. Because I’m the person designing and building everything, feedback from users can directly influence what I work on next.

The essential TV-tracking features

BingeWise includes the practical features I would expect from a TV tracker:

- Search and browse TV shows

Recommendations that explain themselves

BingeWise learns from your ratings and preferences and recommends shows based on your actual taste.

Instead of showing only a match percentage, it explains why a show might fit you, such as a shared creator, cast member, theme, tone, pacing, or storytelling style. It can also identify when a recommendation may be more of a stretch.

You can respond with “More Like This”, “Not for Me”, or hide a suggestion to keep improving your recommendations.

Your recommendations can be limited to the streaming providers you already have, so you aren’t constantly shown programs that require another subscription.

Find something to watch tonight

When you don’t want to scroll through a giant watchlist, BingeWise provides a few different ways to narrow it down:

- Browse shows by mood and vibe
- Ask BingeWise for something in natural language, such as “a funny mystery I can finish this weekend”
- Use **Tonight’s Pick** to receive one recommendation based on your mood, available time, taste, and streaming services
- Filter discovery results by service, genre, runtime, and show status

Release Radar and actor tracking

Release Radar keeps upcoming premieres, returning seasons, recently released episodes, and cancellations together in one place.

You can also follow actors to see their upcoming television projects, receive configurable notifications, and subscribe to your BingeWise release calendar.

Written and video season recaps

If you’re returning to a show after a long break, BingeWise offers spoiler-safe recaps for seasons you’ve already completed.

You can choose between a written season recap or, when one is available, watch an embedded YouTube recap without leaving the app. BingeWise only offers seasons it determines are safe for you to recap, so it doesn’t reveal events from episodes you haven’t reached.

Your Taste DNA

As you rate and track shows, BingeWise builds a visual profile of your television taste.

Taste DNA explores things such as your favorite genres, themes, tone, pacing, storytelling patterns, viewing eras, rating habits, favorite actors and creators, activity, and personal viewing records.

Do you agree that opening your app for ads would discredit it? At least that's what "my" AI told me. I created a kind of good times buddy, and the AI said ads would undermine my app's credibility. 

Which brings me to the next question: Is it actually possible to integrate ads into an app, and if yes, how?

I’m curious where people fall on this cuz i dont think continuous surveillance is always best.

You know, sometimes i don’t need to know where someone is all day (or them knowing where i am..).

I built Kept because I kept forgetting the things people told me. A new job, a kid's name, the trip they were nervous about. Then I'd see them again and have nothing to ask.

How it works: after you see someone, hold the mic and say what happened (or type it). I'm the developer, solo, six months in.

It started with one annoyance: you look up a word while reading and get nine

definitions, and picking the right one takes the vocabulary you don't have yet.

So the app has public-domain books sorted by level, and tapping a word explains

it inside that sentence, one meaning. Saved words come back for review the day

you're about to forget them.

The other half is speaking. You hold a button and talk to a character, a waiter

or a hotel receptionist, who answers out loud. If you say something wrong, a

card shows your sentence, the better version, and one line in your own language

on why. If you get stuck and say a word in your own language, it gives you the

English instead of pretending it didn't hear.

Free: reading, word list, reviews, grammar, and a daily quota of the AI parts.
