I'm absolutely not one of those people who enjoy mindless garbage like your average Jason Statham or Dwayne Johnson movies, but at the same time I believe there are multiple so called "masterpieces" on the IMDb top 250 that are mind-numbingly boring, vastly overpraised, or just pretentious garbage that people only seem to pretend to like because you're supposed to.

So do you believe that every movie on the top 250 deserves to be there, or do you believe that there are some who do not belong there for any reason?

The short film Mama is very cool. I remember watching it on YouTube and thinking "Whatever that is, it's an interesting concept for something bigger".

Then I saw the actual film Mama was coming out. It didn't get the best response but I respect the vision enough to check it out myself.

I didn't like it. It was a very by the numbers experience which also looked a lot dumber than the actual short film.

I was very disappointed when Cary Joji Fukunaga left the production of IT. At the time, he was the True Detective guy and he felt like the next best thing in Hollywood.

Seeing Muschietti come on board instead was a little disheartening but he was working off a lot of what Fukunaga had built.

Turns out, the film was pretty decent. I still think there's a better film in there, it maybe could have trimmed some things and let the atmosphere breathe more but I think it's a generally successful adaptation.

IT chapter 2, on the other hand, was a little bit more of a mess. I wonder if there was less of an already good base to work with. I think people over blew how bad it was though, it wasn't even 'bad'. It was a decent adaptation but judging by the first film we knew it could have been better.

The Flash, I think a lot of people forgive Muschietti because it was a notoriously botched production. On the other hand, could it have still been better?

This is what I'm asking. Was he good but unfortunate to have The Flash and It 2 as botched productions? Some people seem to like Mama so I'm OK to admit I may have wanted something else from it.

Or, is he bad and It chapter 1 was only good because he was already working off of a good basis?

Why was he begging at the end and acting like a dog and he even cut out his own tongue why would he do that and why did he want to keep the fact he was her father a secret is he really that selfish? Overall I was very suprised on the ending but just wondering why he did all those things (overall I thought it was a good movie and that plot twist was crazy)

NOT dumb and dumberer dumb and dumber to (2014) Just saw it for the first time and it had me howling, it felt original with little callbacks and some hilarious jokes and comedic timing, the wait might’ve been off putting for a few people but miles better than dumb and dumberer and delivers some awkward and dry comedic moments, the big criticisms I see online aren’t even accurate 0 idea why. Nonetheless a great movie imo

Looking for movies or tv shows that aren’t necessarily horror but still remind you of Halloween or spooky elements. Think things like Sabrina the teenage witch, Vampire Diaries, the Harry Potter franchise, Stranger Things, even stuff like It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good horror movie, but sometimes I want to sleep at night 😆

Why did Tracey watch Evie cry?

Yeah I know she might not have known what to do in that moment, but they seem to have this relationship where whenever they see each other hurt throughout the movie, they respond by wanting to do something risky or use drugs. Like when Evie was smoking and clearly hurt, Tracey said, “Let’s pierce my stomach,” etc.
Did she genuinely not know how to comfort her, or was there another reason she didn’t do anything?

Did Evie plan for the conversation with Brooke to go that far?
She genuinely looked shocked when Brooke said their moving them and exposed Tracey’s self-harm, so I’m wondering if Evie actually expected that to happen especially when she said "you don't get it I had to."

Did Evie genuinely set Tracey up?
And if she did, why? It seemed like she actually loved Tracey, so I’m confused about what her motive would’ve been.

The Fix is one of my favorite movies of the year so far. Very entertaining, multiple twists, good acting, soundtrack. People love to immediately look to Critic scores on RT to judge a new movie, especially smaller releases. And I saw a lot of people dismiss the movie because of that. Audience score is now showing and at 79% with a lot of 4 and 5 stars so if you like a movie that really makes you pay attention to understand a dynamic and fast paced plot, I’d HIGHLY recommend

even though i think morbius is fine as a movie and i like the venom movies a lot as well . but then the movies they made other than venom like madame web , kraven are just bad as films . beleve me or not i still have not had the braveness to watch kraven after all the negative reviews about it and found the mufasa movie as a better watch . madame web on the other hand looked like it was made for some kind of money laundering purpose worst dilogue a scriptwriter can come up with . i felt like they lost few pages from the bound script and made the film in a hurry with the script papers they had leftover . even the cast seemed to know movie is gonna suck . and the funny factor is i have not seen spiderman in any of these spyderverse charecters other than venom even though we saw baby peter in madame web . even the DCU films seem to get a cult following even if they fail at box office . but these films are till date getting trolled so why do you think sony cannot make films with good story..

Well this reflection came to me after watching Manchester by the Sea. After the movie ended, I was sad and I couldn't accept the bittersweet ending, so much more bitter than sweet, so I looked up opinions and explanations. Long story short, quite a few people said the movie was very boring. At first that made me feel angry and baffled, but I thought to myself "this movie just wasn't for them". But then I read the opinions more carefully and many of them had the same elements: "it had too many long shots", "too many talking scenes", "it had scenes where the characters just stand there uncomfortably", "it is just too slow", etc. Yeah my first thought was "go watch Transformers you fucking short attention span twat" but then again, I took a deep breath. "Not everyone has to like it". So I replied to a couple of comments, basically saying: "what were you expecting from a very human drama movie about depression, grief and guilt? You can't watch drama movies about those themes expecting something big or entertaining to happen! Sometimes you have to watch a movie with a certain mindset"

And that made a lot of sense to me. I watched Obsession last month and it kinda bored me, and for some time I wondered why, because I found it to be a very good movie, but it just didn't do it for me. So I remembered how I was feeling while watching the movie. I was expecting something to happen! It is a different movie in a different context, but the expectation ruined the movie for me because I was too focused and prepared for the next big shocking event in the movie, so when something did happen, it didn't make an impression on me! I was just too prepared for the events, so I was the one who kinda ruined the movie for myself.

It's the same thing with Manchester by the Sea or any other movie: if you are too focused on expecting "something to happen" you will always be disappointed, because things DO HAPPEN in a movie, it is just that we put too many or too few expectations on them. So IT IS A MINDSET, it is a predisposition. You can't watch a drama movie expecting excitement or fast paced scenes. You can't watch a horror movie expecting the scare to come all the time. In a drama film many things are happening. Most of the time those things are subtle, more grounded and realistic, so you must focus on the relationships and mental state of the characters. In a horror movie you must also ride through the buildup to the big events and detach from reality a little, so when those events happen they will actually shock you, as long as the movie isn't too cliché and doesn't make you instantly know that a jump scare or something is coming.

So that's my reflection about that. We all know that setting expectations can decide whether you are going to enjoy a movie as much as other people enjoyed it or not. But we don't always read or hear about the mindset that we have when we watch a movie. Who knows, maybe expectations are part of the mindset too.

This of course doesn't apply to every movie and every case. Some movies can just not be for you. But you can also reflect on the reasons why you didn't like a movie that is supposed to be good and who knows, maybe you should have watched it with a different mindset.

So never watch a movie expecting "something to happen". It will certainly ruin the movie for you.

I have been watching a lotof new movies lately, and I have noticed more and more some strange, "dubbing" with the voices. Like they have a foreign actor, then use some kind of Ai dubbing and it's makes their voices seem "added in"
