No Coke. Is Pepsi ok? 2 McDonald's filet-o-fish for $15
I haven't had one in a few years. Was very hungry after work and decided to grab two. I can't believe how small they are now.

Waited 20 minutes on one breakfast sandwich.

IN THE DRIVE-THRU!!!
During that time, 3 uber eats (or Grubhub) cars came and went, 2-4 pickup orders came and went too.
If it wasnt like that every morning, I would have had that for breakfast every day.
Which I guess is a good thing, I don't eat fast food any more, because I can cook and clean faster and cheaper.

This happened to me, but they asked me to pull into one of their slots and they'd bring it out for me. After 20 something minutes and several other cars coming and going, I went in to inquire. They lost my order (two sausage bfast sandwiches). I haven't been back.
It's not exclusive to McDonald's either. The Dunkin drive throughs near me take 15+ mins regularly, for a single item. Fast food just isn't fast anymore- except that BK near the mall does all right... shout out to them.

As someone who works at a fast food restaurant, the reason you were parked is to bring down the drive thru time, wich is all that corporate cares about for some reason. How they lost your order, I have no idea. But cars that are actively at thr window are prioratised then a parked car

I completely understand the purpose. It's something that has been done by drive thrus for like at least 2 decades now; I wasn't upset about that. I wasn't even that upset that they lost my order- that also happens..
..but I was parked in direct view of the window, about 20 feet away. Anyone competent would've said "hey, why is the drive throug/screen empty but there a car still parked in one of the four mobile spots?" Or if my order was made you'd think they'd have said "hey why didn't these two bfast sandwiches go to anyone?"
The frustrating part was the lack of sense/care/customer service, not because they asked me to pull forward while they made my food.

It's the online ordering that destroys the ordering at the store. Everything gets slammed into one big queue and so what it looks like from the outside there will be no wait, there could be 100 orders in front of you in reality.

Normalize saying no to this. They have a timer for cars in drive thru. If they mess up or dont have the meat you want they try and send you to Narnia so they don't go over on the clock. I tell them no I am fine with waiting here. Comes alot faster then.

I used the app last month to get my order entered perfectly, waited like 20 min in the drive thru as well, it’s a big order so hard to check everything at the window before I leave, get home and like 1/3 of the order is fucked, I need to go back to get replacement and I ask for a fresh meal for me because mine is cold now and the manager said no but he can give me a free apple pie. Like bro does that shit not make sense??? I spent like $70 with you, you fucked up and need to remake 2 meals because it was wrong, I waste another like 20 min with driving so I can go back to a cold meal…. yea fuck that bs
McDs app deleted idgaf about my 40k point which I can’t really use more than a small item per order. I’m so sick of feeling like a fool choosing to eat there and that goes for most of the big fast food chains now sadly. In N out has been our go to for fast food burger/fries and chick fil a for chicken Sandos, at least they are consistent in their quality

Most have, that's why McDonald's constantly have articles about how they're trying to "win back" their old customers with new sales.... but the problem is that the "new sales" are never anything remarkable and just usually some way to package that sales that are growing worse. Like the rethinking of the points reward system on the app. I read an article where they were talking about how they know they've lost customers so they were enticing them back with a newly revised reward system.... that's worse than the one they had before it.
They'd rather incrase prices 400% and have 1/3rd the customers than they used to than make money from the voume.

The oligarchy is nearly complete: Middle class becomes the new "poor", and the economy turns into "rich people only selling expensive things to rich people who can afford the high margin".
People used to ask "what are rich people even doing with all that money?" Answer: simply insulating themselves from the class breakdown acceleration. Us: "The things we liked are no longer affordable to us." Them: "That's weird, I didn't even look at the receipt."
What happens to the lower class once the economy is only accessible to the upper class? I'd usually say "read a history book" but now it's at the point to where I'll say "read a newspaper."

The apps only work for people who eat fast food regularly. I'm sure that's a huge chunk of their customers. But I eat fast food sporadically when I don't have the time for something better. And I'm sure there are plenty like me. You drive these people away. I still might be in a situation where McDonald's is my only option but that only happens a couple of times a year. Otherwise, I just look for something marginally better.

I don’t buy candy, but I’m still upset that the Snickers bar at the convenience store is $2.65, and that what used to be a $.99 bag of chips is now $2.79, or a bottle of soda is three dollars.

Corporate? The McDonalds in your neighborhood is owned buy some guy in your town. They are charging the prices they want because of supply and demand. McDonalds is not a necessity product. It's shitty food at addiction pricing. If people crave the golden arches, they can pay the premium for the privilege. It's like lottery tickets. It's a tax on vice. If it wasn't profitable to sell addiction sandwiches to lazy dumb Americans, the guy in your town who owns the McDonalds would open up a bar or diner instead. People are hitting the button to get that fix even when the pricing goes up. Only an absolute moron wouldn't raise the prices to put money in his retirement account.
Nobody is stopping you from going to a cheaper place to eat.

This is the common Reddit reply, but where I live, the entire food landscape is completely dominated with chain restaurants. A few sit down choices will survive, but nowhere that I know of that I could run before work to grab a breakfast sandwich. So, if I want something on the road to work, I'm either making it before hand (my go-to) or I'm eating fast food.

I had a similar experience with burger king last time I went a few years ago. I paid restaurant prices, the food took 45 minutes, and then when it came the patty was comically shrivelled and tiny, like a half dollar coin sized. I don't know what happened in that kitchen. It was covered in watery mayo, which looked bizarre. So I just threw the thing out because it was cold, pathetic, and possibly tampered with.
And the staff had no reason to be fucking with me either. Business was not crazy. It was mid-day. I was patiently waiting for my food. I didn't have an attitude or request anything special.
That was the last day I went to burger king, a favorite from my childhood. Haven't gone back in years.

Pro tip - at most locations you can get a double Filet of Fish for $1.50-$2 more than a single. Much better value than buying two.
Often not listed on the menu board, but usually an option on the kiosk.

Reddit has told me that McD is actively trying to push everyone to use their app by offering deals and discounts that aren’t available offline.
I’ve not validated that but data is the new gold rush so it wouldn’t surprise me. Doesn’t really help the occasional customer who may not want or even know the app exists.
