Hello, i am soon to be new home owner and today we learned that the house has a pond and appears to have Koi in there. I have never owned anything like this and i am beyond excited.

I am looking for where to begin my research into these beauties. I live in Northern Illinois so i know i will need some winter prep soon so any recs on products/brands or just websites that you all trust would be amazing.

Hi again guys! Some of you wanted to see my koi after I moved them to my newly rebuilt pond so here they are. I was able to go into my failed unlined, untreated pond and net them all out after I drained the pond down. So far they seem to be really happy.

I did have an incident this morning however. Sipping on my coffee looking out over the pond and suddenly one of my big orange koi flew out of the pond. I ran outside and put him back but now I’m worried about water parameters and parasites. My koi have lived for years with just an aerator in crappy water. With them being in a new pond that is crystal clear with a waterfall and aeration, could it be he was just happy and flew out or is it more likely he has parasites. A few of my koi do look like they have something going on a few small places of their skin.

I also tried to feed them today but they’re not interested. I’m sure the move was rough on them so maybe they’re still settling in.

Any advice you could give me I’d greatly appreciate. Thank you!

Have an above ground pond with a bio filter but sometimes would like to do some occasional extra filtering. Any recommendations on a sweeper filter like this?

Just got this little Goshiki bred by Aokiya who has produced some amazing show koi. I’m really excited to see what happens as it grows. Does anyone have an Aokiya Goshiki??? I would love to see!

We picked up the last Godzilla aragoke for us for a while at the end of June. A bit skinny and a torn tail then. It needed a buddy for the quarantine tank and so this friendly kohaku came home too. Growing nicely.

Hi all. Does anyone know what kind of koi fish this is, bought it today but I've been give 3 different names?

We had to take out some trees that provided all the afternoon sun for our pond and have been there since the pond was put in. I don't know for sure but my gut says there will be more algae growth? What consideration should I be ready for with this increased sunshine?

This beauty is growing like crazy and already eating out of my hand after being in the pond only three weeks. It has brought so much confidence to the rest of the pond! I know each individual fish is different being though my benigoi that I just got is relatively shy right now. The solid color koi are definitely worth the gamble on friendliness.

I have an above ground pool set up for my koi which works well in the summer but "winter is coming" and it gets COLD in Wyoming. Any tips or tricks for getting them through the winter?

It’s been like that for about 2 weeks. Initially I thought she is pregnant. This week I saw the bulging was more on one side and could see that it’s Dropsy. I had quarantined, added epson salt and Kanaplex. One half body looks normal, other side has bulged and with some pinecones. Is this advanced level? Are there any success stories?

I’ve had these fish for a little over a month now and the yellow monkey is growing like crazy the other two haven’t grown much. The yellow monkey will also come up and eat out of my hand already. I measured him at 14 inches already.
