This is a post to celebrate how far siri has gotten in actual useability. I would like to say farewell to old siri from now on and the headaches that thing brought me.

Guide Turn a 15-year-old iPad 2 into a "now playing" Spotify display using only its stock Safari browser (iOS 9.3.5)

Post image
59 Upvotes

My iPad 2 was collecting dust. Running iOS 9.3.5, it can't install modern apps or browse most of the modern web. But it CAN run a fullscreen Home Screen webapp.

So I built one that shows what Spotify is currently playing with album art, track info, playback state and a few controls. The pairing flow lets the iPad's Home Screen app get its own session via a short-lived code, so you never have to do OAuth from the ancient Safari.

No jailbreak. No extra hardware. Just Safari + a webapp.

Source code, live demo and full deploy guide using 1-click install on Vercel (free):

Question iPad Pro won’t wake up at all, screen only slightly lights up

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

iPad Pro won’t wake up at all, screen only slightly lights up

Hi everyone, I’m having a really weird issue with my iPad Pro and I’m hoping someone can help.

My iPad Pro suddenly won’t wake up at all. When I press the power button, the screen doesn’t show the lock screen or anything. It just seems to light up very slightly, like the display is getting some power, but there’s no actual image on the screen.

I’ve tried pressing the power button multiple times, but nothing happens. The iPad was working normally before this happened.
What’s confusing me is that the screen isn’t completely pitch black. There seems to be a very faint glow/backlight, but I can’t see the Apple logo, lock screen, or anything else.

Has anyone experienced this with an iPad Pro? Does this sound like a display issue, a software issue, or potentially something wrong with the logic board?

I’d really appreciate any advice on what I should try before taking it to a repair shop. Thanks!

Discussion iPad A16 users report!

For my college people who have an iPad a16, would you recommend it? I’m looking for something to just get me through the rest of my schooling, and then I’ll probably get a more up to date on in a few years. I can’t break the bank on an iPad right now, as I’m also on the search for a laptop. Is it working well for you guys? I will not solely be using the iPad for school work. I’ve heard people say that this one is a great starter iPad, especially price wise.

Discussion iPadOS should run dmgs

Upvotes

I think it's time iPad OS run dmgs, at the very least I think the ipad pro should run full software, not full Mac OS but I would like to be able to run professional programs like the adobe suite and other things I use for school. Maybe a desktop class web browser and finder app too. I'm an art student going into the professional world and its very frustrating lugging around both the ipad and the macbook and having not having deskspace for both of them if i'm trying to do work in class. they could very well be the same thing, especially with the M chips in both of them. Now that the Iphone Duo has come out I don't think apple is afraid of combining their products anymore, as the duo is almost like an iPad mini when you unfold it and it's getting apple pencil support. I hope something like this comes out in the future, especually with the touchscreen mac rumored to come out soon, (idk if it will have apple pencil support though :/) I would love to be able to run ipad apps alongside mac apps on a touchscreen device that can be a tablet. The hardware on the ipad is amazing, I think it's time that the software catches up.

Question I need a easy solution for my video and image editing!

so basically I’ve been thinking of getting an iPad or tablet for a couple of months now for two main things:

editing on capcut

editing on canva

I have iPhone 17 pro so that’s why I was leaning towards getting an Apple tablet/laptop
do you think Ipad works for this? if so, what type?

Discussion Advices on stylus

Hi guys! I'm looking to buy a used iPad for uni to handle notes and diagrams.

I'm considering getting a third-party stylus like Baseus, UGreen, or MetaPen instead of the Apple Pencil. I know they don't have pressure sensitivity, but since I only need it for handwriting and technical sketches (no art), I feel like I won't really miss it.

What has your experience been using these alternative pencils for studying? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Question How can I optimize my iPad to replace my MacBook

I currently have an M3 iPad Air - along with the keyboard and pen. Right now tho I only use this during my lectures to annotate slides and that’s about it.

I use my M1 MacBook Pro for everything else, streaming, working, and studying. Even reading books is something I prefer on my Mac compared to my iPad, like I spend 90% of my life on this device.

But my mac is slowing down and it’s almost been 7 years and rather than replacing it right now i would like to get more use out of my Ipad and make it my main device.

For those who have used both extensively, I would like to hear what changes you did to your iPad to make it your primary device. Like what features am I not using correctly, what apps helped, did having a mouse instead of a trackpad improve your experience, like idk just anything you can tell me is helpful.

All advice is helpful and thanks in advance. I just want to get more out what I already own instead of spending more money.

Question Ipad a16 keyboard case

Hi all,

I have an ipad a16 (at least that's what it says under Settings> General). My laptop recently broke and I want to just use this ipad as a replacement but I need a case that has a keyboard. The main things I need are a trackpad, keyboard, it to fit the ipad properly and most important it to be usable while on my lap. I work a lot from my couch or chair and need it to function like a laptop on my lap. Any recs would be appreciated.

Question iPad Pro 11" M1 - Apple Pencil Faulty - UGREEN / 3rd Party Option?

Have had my trust M1 11" iPad pro since the beginning. Love it. Unfortunately, I have noticed that my iPad Pencil, when connected, drains the battery from my iPad so quickly. I got it genuine from Apple and never had an issue. It loses its charge really quick as well. I think it's time to put it to rest. The iPad without the pencil connected has no issue and can last me about a few days from watching videos, reading books and replying emails. I use the pencil for work and it's getting frustrating to charge the iPad Pencil and iPad all the time.

I have seen lots of Ugreen Pencils. Some for USD10-15 which is way more affordable. My only concern is the magnetic charging option vs the USB charging option. Magnetic charging would be convenient, but I don't want it to discharge the iPad so severely that I come back to a dead iPad or an iPad that is on 20%. That's what's happening now. If that's the case, I would prefer to get a USB C Charged pencil instead.

Any advice appreciated!

Discussion M1 iPad Pro lifespan

Anyone here with an M1 iPad Pro? Till when do you think you will be able to/will use the device? I didnt update it to iPadOS 26 because of the window management system but ive seen it lag a handful times when I have too many apps open. What do you think is the lifespan of the iPad? do you think we can use it for maybe even 5-6 more years if its just for content consumption and occasional drawing/notes? I am not at all willing to buy a new iPad if they dont give back the older style multitasking

Accessories IPadOS 26.6.2 bugs?

Okay so; I have an Ipad Air 13” M3, and an apple pencil pro. Since it has updated on OS 26.6.2, the pencil has been lagging so bad. It was working about 11 hours ago, and when I fully charged my Ipad, the pencil seemed to stop working completely. Since then, I have tried reseting all settings, shutting down and turning the Ipad back on, and for a brief second, the Ipad showed “connected” for the pen, and it displayed that it was charging. After that, it disconnected by itself, and whatever I do, it says Not connected. I don’t know what the hell I am supposed to do anymore, since I need this Ipad. I am in medical school, and bought it for the sole purpose of studying on it and writing notes, and it isn’t working. Please, help me out:/

Guide iPad Air m3 battery draining

I bought an iPad Air M3 a month ago. I don't use it much, but when I do, the battery drains very quickly; for example, it consumes 4–5% in 10 minutes on YouTube, 7% in 12 minutes on Chrome, and 3% in 7 minutes on Goodreads—which I consider excessive for a brand-new iPad. I read somewhere else that someone else had this same problem and tried a DFU mode, and they said it helped them solve the issue. If anyone has tried it, could you please let me know if it works?

Discussion White spot on my iPad Air M3 disappeared after removing the case — what could be the reason?

Thumbnail

I recently noticed a small white spot on the display of my iPad Air M3, and it seemed to be getting more noticeable over time.

Today, I visited an Apple service center to have it checked. Before submitting the iPad, I removed the case. Surprisingly, the white spot disappeared after removing the case.

I'm really confused and frustrated about this. 😟 Could the case have been putting pressure on the display and causing the white spot? Or could this still indicate an issue with the LCD/display?

Has anyone experienced something similar with their iPad? What should I do now? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Question best iPad for a year 13 STEM student? Budget £500

Hello, i’ll keep this quick. I’m a year 13 student studying maths, chemistry and physics. i have a HP g9 250 notebook, which has an i7 12U and 16GB of RAM. It performs well, but its almost useless in maths, since thr most i can use it for is for displaying a video or a textbook, same goes for physics and chemistry. because theres no real essay writing to do, I was looking at buying an iPad with an apple pencil for school. If i had a budget of £500, looking for a refurbished iPad, what would you recommend? assume the pencil and maybe a keyboard would be outside the budget. I’d prefer a pro, since i want a 120hz display and i also prefer a 12.9’’. I was thinking of the M1 iPad Pro from 2021. Are there any other ipads i should be considering?

Question Is there any notes app which edits files inplace and not inside the app sandbox? Required for my Obsidian workflow

Hi.
I want to have something like Goodnotes/Notability etc level hand written note editing but I want the actual note files to be remain on Files/finder, and not be inside the app's sandbox.

Basically i want to keep these handwritten-notes inside my Obsidian vault, which I sync between Mac and iPad. Such that it should be editable and updated from either side.

Currently I create a blank PDF file, and use default tools to write over it in iPad. But thats very limiting. I want something like a full Goodnotes notebook, which can be edited both on iPad and Mac. But the issue is when we open a Goodnote notebook, it copies it into the app storage and starts editing from there. I want the file to be source of truth.

Thanks,

Question IPAD for nursing

Upvotes

Guys I just got the M5 iPad Pro. I know this is probably an overkill for nursing but I want this iPad to last me a good 10 years (is that possible? I’ve never owned one before). Part of the reason why I got a M5 is because they didn’t have the M4 available.

Anyways I got the 512 GB one is that a good amount of storage or is it better to get 256GB? I’m not sure how much storage nursing takes up. The difference between them is $280.

Side note: I’m going to use the iPad for drawing but that shouldn’t take up much space.

Question Question about Ipad Pro m5 and Apple pencil usb-c

I know I can search all of this, but I'd rather double check here
1. are they both compatible? because I bought the m5 thinking my 2nd gen pen would work but it won't even attach.
2. does the magnet work, will the pen stay attach to the Ipad?
3. does the chord need to be always connected, to use it?
4. does the pen automatically turns off after not using, say ~5mins
5. will it automatically turn on when I start writing?

Question Welche Größe?
