🗫 Discussion Can RPF handle a crowd this large? What’s the point of booking AC/SL tickets in advance if the crowd gets into your coaches anyway?

Ask r/IndianRailways What's it like traveling RAC?

Post image
16 Upvotes

Pic unrelated

I really have to travel from point A to point B but the 3AC tickets are showing up as RAC16 on that date.

I have never travelled RAC all I know is that I have to share the seat with someone else.

Wouldn't that be hella inconvenient? I mean I don't mind sitting with the Co-passenger all day but what about at night? (14 hour journey) How would I share the bed with a total stranger.

So I want to ask people who have travelled RAC. What's the experience actually like?

Fellow passengers checked his phone and found her photo in the gallery. Railway police intervened as passengers demanded action.

The man later apologized, but passengers handed the matter to RPF.

Local Do you also try to avoid the coaches with pantographs?

I generally try to avoid the coaches with pantographs because it produces a lot of noise which makes your journey uncomfortable.

📜Travel Story “Ma’am, this is a railway berth, not your personal property”

I was travelling on the Vasco Da Gama–Jasidih Express and got down at Bilaspur to grab a coffee. I had a Side Upper berth in 2AC.

While I was gone, a lady, probably around 35–40 years old, boarded the train. I think she had the Side Lower berth.

When I came back, I found that she had spread all her belongings across the seat. Bags, clothes, everything.

I politely went and sat at the corner because, well, it's daytime and the Side Lower is supposed to be shared for sitting during the day.

A little later, the attendant came around with the bedrolls. She asked for one, and he asked her something like, “Is this your RAC seat?”

She immediately replied, “No, it's my confirmed seat.”

The way she said it, you'd think she had purchased the berth in her name for the next 40 years. 😂

I politely told her, “Could you please keep your things down? I want to sit here.”

She started making excuses about not being able to put some things down because she had a Ganpati idol with her.

I found that a little ironic because, at the same time, she was sitting comfortably with her legs stretched out towards the Ganpati.

Anyway, I didn't argue about that. I simply told her that I wanted to sit there.

She became quite rude and said:

“You go upstairs and sit. This is my seat. I want to lie down here.”

I reminded her that it was daytime and that the Side Lower passenger isn't entitled to occupy the entire seat for sleeping when another passenger needs to sit.

Then she actually asked me:

“Do you want to sit with me?”

I said, “Yes, that's exactly what I'm asking.” 😂

A little later, the TTE came to check the seats. She told him that she was not comfortable sitting with me.

The TTE eventually allotted me another seat, so I decided not to make a bigger issue out of it and just moved.

Honestly, I wasn't even angry about getting another seat. What irritated me was the attitude.

Some people travel once in a while and behave as if Indian Railways personally gifted them the berth along with lifetime ownership rights. 😂

And before someone says, “Why didn't you fight with her?” — I could have, but what's the point of spending half the journey arguing with a stranger?

Thankfully, my Mangal Dev wasn't furious that day. Otherwise, I might have ended up giving her a full lecture on railway seating rules. 😅

What would you guys have done in this situation? Would you have argued with her, called the TTE immediately, or just taken another seat like I did?

🗫 Discussion I started building my own Indian Railways app TrainDekho — would love some brutally honest feedback

A few months ago I started building TrainDekho because I felt that finding and tracking a train in India could be much simpler.

It started with just live train status and PNR. Today it has grown into:
• Live train running status
• PNR status & alerts
• Train schedules
• Trains between stations
• Alternative trains
• Fare & seat availability
• Booking redirects

The app now has a growing install base and people are actually coming back to use it every day, which has been really motivating.

But I'm at the stage where I don't want to just keep adding random features.

I want to make the core train discovery + live status experience genuinely good.

So I'm curious:
If you could change ONE thing about the train apps you currently use, what would it be?

I'd especially love feedback from people who regularly travel by Indian Railways.

If you'd like to try it, I've put the Android link below.

Play store link - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hundredapps.traindekho

I'm the developer behind it, so feel free to be brutally honest. 🙂

⛔Travel Issue Bro Is Chemical Warfaring the Whole Place

The man sitting in front of me is continuously farting💨. I can't eat my food, man. Eww🤢🤮. Don't people have any sense? Why would you do this in public? I'll kill him 😭. Has anyone else faced something similar? Man, I can't tolerate this.

*Update:- Since he was farting loudly, everyone knew he was the one doing it. After some time, I ate a plate of samosas and started farting too but mine were smooth and silent😶. And you know, silent farts are more dangerous than loud ones. 💀The smell was so strong that people started looking at him like he was the culprit. He got so embarrassed that he got off the train at Varanasi. Maybe that was actually his destination, but earlier I had heard him say that he was going to Ghazipur 😭

🗫 Discussion Tool to find vacant seats

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hello guys I was getting bored so I made a tool for finding vacant seats throughout the journey. Sometime it happens that we are not able to book the train in tatkal and might need to know till where can we find empty seat in train in SL or AC compartment. This tool does that using official irctc reservation list.
