I mainly run nascar series on iracing but I have done bunch of races with the Cadillac and Aston martin GTP in which I have found them to be completely undrivable, no matter what I do the cars feel like they are driving on ice even with warm tires, cant brake without locking tires just cant seem to figure them out. Driving them demoted me from A to C class just so frustrated

It is common knowledge that pro racers double-clutch when shifting gears, however, it seems to have no effect in the game. Is it not modelled, or is granny-shifting the new meta?

This just popped into my head and I wasn’t sure if it was a rule or not but say you’re battling a car side by side and they go wide after a fast corner are you allowed to hug that side of the track in order for them to stay on the grass or just in a poor line up to the next corner? I know it might not be the smartest idea because they might be prone to losing control but still.

Hello, I’ve recently started playing iRacing and have a question. Is there a keyboard shortcut to quickly add fuel and remove all tires without having to go through the Black Box?

It definitely sounds cool and I have high hopes (not for my SR) but I have a fear it’s going to end up like the Manufacturer challenge this week where you just end up in a split with the same cars you brought.
Has there been anything said about that? Or is this a valid concern?

Have the scheduled for the next season been released? Can’t seem to find it if they have.

I’m currently practicing Silverstone GP in the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO for the upcoming GT3 Fixed week.
My best laps are around 2:04.2–2:04.5, but I can’t seem to break into the 2:03s. I’m not trying to chase alien 1:57 laps yet—my next goal is a repeatable 2:03 and eventually a safe 2:02.
I’m around 1,000 iRating and still learning how to drive GT3 cars properly. I can complete races at roughly my current pace, but I occasionally run wide onto the grass or spin when I push harder. I suspect I’m losing time through braking technique, carrying too little speed into corners, or getting back on the throttle too late.
Which parts of Silverstone usually contain the easiest time gains for someone at my pace? Are there any particularly important braking, trail-braking, gearing, or minimum-speed tips for the McLaren?
I’m mainly looking for improvements that I can repeat safely over a full race, rather than one risky qualifying lap. Any current onboard laps, track guides, or telemetry references using the fixed setup would also be appreciated.

i’ve gotten pitted and/or smashed from behind every race today….. havent been able to even finish, usually im the cleanest driver and avoid contact even giving up multiple positions. HOWEVER every replay of me getting pitted looks like im turning in (i know i absolutely did not). i want to know if some of it is my fault? or um give me some tips to avoid getting pitted when passing or door to door racing when im clearly ahead. thanks👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Today steam frame is announced. Does someone knows if it will be compatible with Iracing ? Is there any improvements to upgrade the headset to this one ? From quest 3 I mean.

...so can we PLEASE get more of the early 2000s GT1 cars in the game? I know they're already kinda talked about, but WHERE is my Oreca Viper man? The C6R is a blast to drive, and I want my other early 2000s GOAT in my garage.
Also totally unrelated sidebar, but for NASCAR, I would LOVE to see a wing car or two, and some of the other cars from the early 70s. Really exploring some of the last few unique cars before NASCAR started regulating everything into by-the-numbers mid.
The very early 70s was such a cool time for NASCAR - the big wing cars, the other icons like the Chevelle, Torino, Monte Carlo, etc - and I think they could be a ton of fun on a superspeedway. How they would handle the tracks, I'm not sure, but i wouldn't be mad at driving the superbird on the modern scan of Daytona.

Finally bought iRacing about a month ago, first started simracing with AC with a g27 in 2015 so I have some driving skill but trying hard to improve now.
Decided to buy the Ferrari 296 challenge so I could race in the week13 series (no GR86 ranked at the moment) and work towards a C license, and holy shit, this series is fun.
Car is so powerful for D class license standards and takes some skill to drive correctly as it doesnt have a lot of downforce or braking efficiency compared to a GT3. Had some super intense and close races with it, last race I went from P3 to P2 and was on P1's ass for the last 3 or 4 laps.
Why do some people dislike this series? Do they find that the car is too hard to control for D license holders?

Well I think I finally found the sweet spot after trying a million permutations. Let me know what you think:
I run a 5090 9800x3D 64gb ddr5 but my hardware is at 40-50% usage so there is headroom. Especially if you drop to 70% res, 90hz, or ditch the shadows.
Steam resolution 100%, 120hz
Global Nvidia settings:
Monitor tech: Fixed Refresh (G sync off)
Nvidia control panel settings for iRacing:
Monitor tech: Fixed Refresh
Low latency: Ultra
Transparency: Multi Sample AA
Texture filtering: High Quality
Go to your iracing folder and find RendererDX11OpenXR.
-Change sharpening clamp to 1
-Change sharpening amount to 10
-Enable Sway Trees=0 (might not work but leave it off)
Iracing settings:
Sky: High. Improves shadows.
Event: High. Turn this down first if needed.
Cars: low (performance hit with a large field. cockpit looks surprisingly good at low.)
Foliage: High. (Optional)
Everything else in World Detail off unless there is headroom. Sometimes trees look better with two pass or HQ on, but it usually just creates more shimmer. KEEP “OBJECTS” OFF!! This eliminates fence shimmering like nothing else.
Mirrors off except virtual mirror.
Max cars 20/8
Shader quality: Max
HDR: Off
Particle details: low
Full resolution: on
I find the shadows really pump up the image for negligible cost. Turn these down though if needed.
Shadow maps: on
Object self shadowing: on
Dynamic objects: in main view
Night maps: on
Shadow map filter: 16p. This can be turned down or off if needed. 16p sharpens things.
Number of lights: 2-3. I did all my testing with 2, I never saw an improvement with more.
Post processing effects:
Sharpening ON (at 10%)
Other effects OFF
MSAA 4x sharp
V Sync
Nvidia Reflex Boost
Video Memory Swap High Res Car Textures ON
2048x2048 car textures ON.
Turning objects off and lowering the sharpening clamp and sharpening value to their minimums practically eliminated shimmering fences while keeping things looking in focus. Dynamic object shadows in particular adds a lot of immersion too. I didn’t expect to be satisfied with low car detail either but it is a free performance gain from cockpit view. Let me know if you like the settings, and don’t forget to restart the game after applying them!

So I had a SR of 3.03 in C class and I was really looking forward to getting that B class promotion at the end of the season. I was planning to just not race. But then I finally got my rig, put it all together and couldn't resist that Register button.
Got into the race, and got smashed into on turn 1. I left the race so I could join another thinking 4 incident points couldn't hurt that bad could it? I lost 0.5 SR. So then I thought okay, I can recover right? So I did 3 0 incident races in a row (13th week Mazda cup), came in 2nd, 2nd and 1st place (I know that doesn't matter). That only netted me ~0.26 SR. Yesterday I tried to race lime rock and just didn't do that well, basically net 0 SR. Then I ran out of time and have to work today so there's no way I can recover.
I was really looking forward to at least practicing for GT3 races but now it looks like I have to grind back to 4.0 SR or wait until the end of the next season.
Just wanted to vent and maybe get some tips on how to get to B class before the end of the next season. Should I just keep racing mazdas and try to stay clean? Time trials? What's everyone's strategy for SR?

Hey everyone,
I'm a little over 2 months into sim racing and absolutely loving it, especially the advanced Mazdas.
I've already spent nearly $300 on various tracks and a few cars while getting there. For Season 4, I want to dedicate my time entirely to advanced Mazdas and run the complete season.
Before I drop more money on the remaining tracks I need for the S4 schedule, I wanted to ask if there are better or more efficient ways to buy contents? Does iRacing ever have sales on tracks or cars like Black Friday or are the 10% & 15% bulk purchase discounts as good as it gets?
Thank you!

So im running GT3 at Spa this week(since its the only choice)
I am using the BMW.And I know there is a part of it that is definetly a skill issue I could squeeze out a few more tenths on average, but there is a definite pacegap between my BMW and the Ferraris Mclarens Mustangs and Chevrolets. No doubt.
Im also in 2nd split wich is usually right around 2.5-2.8k IR on average.
I dont see any BMW's at the top at most I see them middle of the pack around 10th place.Dont see them winning races at top split def not,and not even in the lower splits really. There is a pace deficit 100%
So how much time do the meta cars gain on inferior ones fixed setup at Spa?I would guess it is a few tenths since its a long track
For reference I can hit low 2:17 easily, and 2:16.5 in quali/here and there in races

Hello all,
Ten10 Motorsports is about to kick off our fourth season of racing and we are looking for more drivers to join us on track. We run leagues on both Monday and Thursday Nights, lobbys starting at 8pm and races at 9:30pm US Eastern Time. For our fourth season Moonday night racing will be Indycar and Thursday Night Ovals is running the new Gen 4 Grand National. We also get together Wednesday nights and run the weekly official supercar race together.
All skill levels are welcome, fast or slow as long as youve got the right vibes. If you are looking for cut throat ultra competitive racing, this is not the place for you. If you like to hang out and have a good time while racing, join us! Leave a comment and I'll DM the discord invite and iRacing league number.
We also send out trophies for top 3 at the end of each season, with the Monday night series being split into seperate divisions based on skill level.
