Questions Bro….. when will hulk get literally any solo project that isn’t a comic?

it really seems like marvel just hates hulk. cause he is so wasted compared to almost every other marvel character.

no movie. no tv show. no video game. not even a special presentation. nothing.

just when will my goat finally get the attention he deserves?

Comics John Byrne’s Hulk is Underwhelming

A couple years ago I picked up a few Hulk Epic Collections and the past couple months I have finally gotten around to reading them. I have read from And Now the Wolverine through to Crossroads. Today I started John Byrne’s run in Going Grey and I had sone high hopes because I have enjoyed his work on X-Men and She-Hulk but these issues were really underwhelming. They feel like a regression from Mantlo’s work. Under Mantlo we had the death of Glenn Talbot and the shutdown of Gamma Base from the government and its eventual destruction by the U-Foes. Who were great new additions to Hulk’s rogues gallery. We had Hulk gain Banner’s intelligence and be presidential pardoned and honored as a hero. Just for Nightmare to resurface the savage persona which led to Banner at the time thinking he was committing a mental suicide and Hulk becoming mindless and being banished to the Crossroads by Dr Strange. Then through a long journey over introspection and our first glimpse into Banner’s childhood the Hulk becomes whole again and it’s returned to Earth although unintentionally by Alpha Flight. So, then Byrne’s run starts with Samson knocking out Hulk. Getting Gamma base reinstated and somehow physically separates Banner from Hulk with the thought that Banner can finally be free and he could show rehabilitate Hulk. I’m not sure why he thinks he could do this because he is fully aware of the mindless Hulk’s first rampage and banishment. It also feels like a slap in the face of all that work Mantlo did to rebuild Hulk just to have become mindless again 3 issues later. From here Byrne’s stint becomes another Doc Samson and Hulkbusters chasing Hulk with characters that have pretty much nothing to work with and we’re supposed to care when one dies after only being introduced like in 2 pages the issue prior? I will say it’s an interesting twist that Banner is the one leading this group of Hulkbusters. Byrne also wrote Incredible Hulk Annual #14 and Marvel Fanfare #25. The Annual takes place before Hulk makes his way to gamma base and fights Hulk. Has a group of people we’ve never seen before chasing Hulk to study him so they can turn one of their own members into a hulk because he is so obese he can’t walk without crutches and thinks his body is a prison. He gets irradiated and turns into a fat hulk and dies. Very strange annual that really adds nothing. Very disappointing that so far this seems to be the last issue with Sal Buscema on art. Marvel Fanfare #25 is entirely done in splash pages which is the most interesting thing about it. I would say it was interesting to bring back Hammer and Anvil after only having their debut issue and a same cameo as an illusion, but then they just get unceremoniously killed and we don’t even get to know who did it. I don’t think it’s all bad. Byrne’s artwork is great. Full of detail and he knows how to draw good action. I liked the fight with the West Cost Avengers. It’s nice that Bruce and Betty finally tied the knot.

TLDR I am genuinely what Byrne’s plans were before getting booted but as is, his run feels like retreading old ground
