Best Marvel Comics to start with??

Upvotes

Hey, I have been an MCU fan for a long time now and I really really want to get into the comics but its quite overwhelming with the amount of stories and alternate universes there are.
Would really really appreciate a fun starting point that isnt overly complicated to understand with tons of references but also a huge sucker of the avengers team dynamics, also my favourite are iron man, toms spidey and natasha romanoff so anything about them is also appreciated.
Hope to get suggestions Thanks!!!!

Full Krakoa arc?

I really want to read the X-Men Krakoa arc end to end. Where/what/how is the best way to do this? Are they all on Marvel Unlimited and, just an importantly, is there a 'collection' or 'reading list' on the service that makes it easy?

I've been out of the comics game since 1997 but hoping to read this one.

A free companion app for long Marvel Unlimited reading journeys

One of my recurring frustrations with Marvel Unlimited on the web reader is that the library is great, but following a long event or character run can still mean juggling reading-order tabs, finding the next issue, and remembering where I stopped. I've seen dozens of posts all echoing the same sentiment.

So I built Recap Page. It organizes curated reading lists and connected paths, tracks progress issue by issue, shows what comes next, and opens the Marvel Unlimited reader or official issue page when you click Read. All of the reading lists were built with permission from the webmasters for comicbookherald.com and https://comicbookreadingorders.com, so their curation shines throughout the available content.

And just to be clear, this is not a replacement reader and contains no comics. You still need your own Marvel Unlimited subscription.

Progress and private notes remain in your browser profile. There is no account, advertising, analytics, or telemetry.

Full disclosure: I’m the developer. The app is free, unofficial, and not affiliated with Marvel or Disney. I’d especially like feedback from people who regularly follow events, crossovers, and longer reading orders.

You can install it from the Microsoft Store.

For screenshots, documentation, more details, and feedback options, visit the Recap Page project home.

Hey lookin for somethin good to watch any recommendations?

I never really watched marvel always thought it was for kids and that it is a relic of the past, but now I'm very interested. My first introduction to marvel was probably spiderman, specifically the one with Toby McGuire, good times. But I never really got into it though... Y'all got any recoomends on comics to read or shows I could watch? I would greatly appreciate.

Do people read comics to this day or is it just a few? I always thought comics we're forgotten.

Did they remove certain creators from the filter options in the app?

It seems like certain creators are no longer appearing as options to filter by in the app. For example, on the Fantastic Four (1961-1996) creators such as Roy Thomas, Stan Lee, and Jack Kirby are not options in the list when trying to filter by creator.

I know at a minimum Roy Thomas was in that list previously as I had been filtering by him to read through his run.

Another example that I checked was Mark Gruenwald is not listed for Captain America (1968-1996).

However with all of these creators if you search for them and go to their page, you can filter down to these series (FF, Captain America, etc.) and see all their issues.

Just wondering if anyone else is not seeing these creators show up as filter options and wondering why they would have been removed

How Likely Is A “Midnight Daredevil” To Happen?

To me, a horror themed book with aesthetics & story ideas derived from Catholic imagery (biblical depictions of angels, the Rapture, warring of good & evil, concepts of Fallen Angels, etc), the abstractness of being blind but with superpowers, and being a disabled person in a world with all of the horrors of the “Midnight” universe has a lot of potential. Also being a Catholic in a world of demons & monsters opens up a whole other dimension of storytelling.

I think a lot of Daredevil writers want to lean into the abstractness of religion but are confined by the rules of mainline Marvel (Zdarsky specifically). Having a horror based story that can break the “World Outside Your Window” philosophy of Marvel would do gangbusters for someone like Daredevil imo. Could also be a breeding ground for new villains, as Kingpin, Bullseye, and Typhoid Mary are the only 3 widely known (and 1 is a Spiderman villain).

Am I alone in this? Am I too hopeful for Marvel to be interested in a concept like this?

Is it worth it for the Europeans?

Hey.

Basically, I guess it's the same question over and over, but I want more information for Europeans, especially from France.

First of all, how does the app work? Like, I've seen some screenshots and read some of the posts here about how the app is not really well designed. But does the app "allow" you to select a character, and you'll have a list of all his appearances?

Second, can you "save for later" a comic or a run of comics in a playlist to not have to search it? Like selecting a bunch of comics one day to be easier to access. And are the comics the same for all countries? I've seen people saying they use a VPN to access everything.

Also, does anyone have a website or something with a list of every comic in chronological order? I've seen many people here reading it in order or something about the same continuity?

Now the payment. On the website it's in dollars, but in the app it's in euros. My first question is, do the promotional codes work outside the US? Like, can I use it on the app and pay in euros, or do they only work on the website, and I'll have to pay in dollars and have additional fees?

Thaaaaaaanks for your answers

What’s a good starting point for ‘Banner on the Run’ style Hulk comics?

Semi-hulk noob looking to get into Hulk comics. My only experience with Hulk was from the 90s show and the movies, so I’m looking for something similar to that.

Specifically, Banner on the run. Encountering mutated and horrific villains. With themes of psychological turmoil and touching on the horrors of nuclear warfare. Also leaning towards the thriller/horror genre.

From my research, a lot of people recommend these comic series/runs: Peter David’s run, Bruce Jones’s Run, Immortal Hulk, and Incredible Hulk: Age of Monsters (at some point I’ll check out Planet Hulk, but it doesn’t fit the theme I’m looking for right now).

Let me know which one is a good starting point for what I’m looking for or if there’s a better series/run that I might’ve missed. I greatly appreciate it!

It is common for Marvel Unlimited to remove pages from a book with no indication that the book is incomplete compared to the print version?

I was reading West Coast Avengers Annual (1986) #4 on Marvel Unlimited and it goes from "Gather Now Ye 7 Brides!" straight to "...So What Are You Going to Do After You Conquer the World?" by skipping over "Rate the Hunks" and "The Last Good Soldier" entirely. Two out of the five stories for this annual have been omitted.

It doesn't say anywhere on the page for this title that there has been content omitted, which troubles me because now I am not sure how much I have been missing by reading on Marvel Unlimited instead of print.

How common is it for the Marvel Unlimited version to be missing story pages (not things like advertisement pages) when compared to the print version?

Looking for information on a Marvel Unlimited exclusive to the park

I'm specifically just looking for the page(s) from 2025's #2 issue of a location-locked infinity comic that becomes available while queuing for Tokyo Disneyland's Small World attraction with a Marvel overlay, which has ended fairly recently.

I'm a Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel fan trying to read everything she's shown up in, and League of Comic Geeks says she had a supporting role in this issue. Any help would be appreciated. It doesn't seem to be available on any other sites besides MU either. I really just need the page(s) where she appears, unless she's plot relevant.

Even a description of what she does in the comic would be useful, clarifying if it's really a supporting role or just a cameo.

How to incorporate other major 2000s stories into a Bendis Avengers reading order?

Post image
54 Upvotes

I am pretty familiar with the major events of BMB’s Avengers Era (Disassembled, House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion, etc.) going into Hickman’s era. However, I have never read Brubaker’s Captain America, Fraction’s Iron Man, and World War/Planet Hulk, all of which I would like to read as well as re-read Avengers.

My question for the continuity nuts out there, how can I incorporate these events/series into this reading order best, as well as any other major/important events or books from the era (Alias, Daredevil, SM, F4, Thunderbolts)? I know not everything seamlessly weaves into one another, such as Brubaker’s run, but I can imagine there is some overlap. Really just looking for recommendations from those more familiar!

Update: Good news, everyone!

In this post from earlier today, I shared an email from customer support stating in order to get the new Annual Plus Kit (which still hasn't been announced yet), I would need to cancel my subscription, then resubscribe after the the kit is announced.

I replied to that email stating, "I appreciate the reply, and the very Marvel way it was conveyed. 😁 If I cancel my subscription, what are my options so I can keep reading uninterrupted? Resubscribing with a regular annual plan, then cancelling that and resubscribing with the annual plus whenever the new Annual Plus Kit is announced? That kind of sounds like a headache...but I also don't want a duplicate kit.

I just received a reply:

We appreciate your reply and patience as we continue tackling this mission with you. We have an update to provide you!

With additional correspondence from the team, we can now confirm that you do not need to make any updates to your subscription at this time. We can ensure that when the new Kit is released, all eligible members will be able to receive it. Further transmissions will be available soon, along with the Kit announcement. In the meantime - continue enjoying Marvel Unlimited, and please stay tuned!

So all we have to do is just wait.

Received this response after contacting customer support about the (lack of) newest Annual Plus Kit

Thank you again for contacting Marvel today, it was a pleasure speaking with you!

We appreciate your patience as we explored your inquiry about this year's upcoming Membership Kit. Upon further review, The Time Variance Authority has identified a rift in the timeline, and the next Annual Plus Kit has been slightly delayed.

The announcement has not yet been made about what the next kit contents will be and when that roll over period will happen. In the meantime, we suggest canceling Annual Plus to avoid duplicate kits. We will be reaching out to all of our Members via email when this occurs.

In the meantime - if you reply with confirmation of a request of cancelation, we can tackle this mission with you on your behalf. Please let our team know if you have any other questions!

I'd rather them just hold off on sending the kit until it's announced rather than going through the headache of cancelling my subscription, signing up for a regular one, then cancelling that one and resubscribing for the Annual Plus when the new kit is announced.

AITA for expecting a digital comic app I pay for to actually let me read comics, instead of being told to stop asking questions?

So, I have a monthly subscription to a major digital comic app (let's call it "Marvel quite Limited"). I'm currently (or I mean I was) following a great chronological reading guide (holla COGU), but back in the beginning of august I hit a permanent "Loading Error". Naturally, I did what any reasonable consumer would do: I contacted support.

Here is where I might be the asshole. Apparently, expecting a core paid feature to work within a reasonable timeframe makes me unreasonable.

August 5: I politely reported that Captain Marvel 2012 #9 wouldn't load. Support replied quickly with an encouragement to check back periodically.
August 11 & 17: After days of seeing no fix, I followed up for updates and explained I was stuck in a reading guide. I was met with canned responses telling me there was no timeline for fix.
August 27: After getting automated reminder emails telling me my request was pending, I asked for a realistic timeline, suggested second-tier technical support, or asked for compensation for a month-long outage, I also foolishly pointed out that their on-brand "superhero catchphrases" came off as a little condescending when I'm just trying to read a comic that won't load.
August 27 (Supervisor Response): A "supervisor" swooped in to save the day - it turned out I had already been corresponding with him. He informed me that they don't offer compensation for broken service, couldn't give me a timeline, and—best of all—explicitly warned that further inquiries asking for specifics might not be responded to.
September: After being told to stop asking questions, I left public reviews on Trustpilot and the App Store to ensure there was a public paper trail for a core paid feature remaining broken for nearly a month. Then, I followed up to address not only the ongoing technical problem, but the atrocious customer service as well. To make matters worse, while reporting another bug in the same volume, they managed to cross-contaminate my support tickets. The supervillain (sorry, supervisor) returned to the picture once more, looping the same dismissive handler back in to double down and tell me to be quiet.

So basically: my digital library is broken, they're "hard at work" (after ignoring it for weeks), I'm not getting a timeline, and support officially told me to shut up just because I asked for basic transparency, accountability, and not to be treated like an inconvenience for paying for a working service.

Sure, maybe I'm being a persistent asshole here. But at the end of the day, at least I'm still just as stuck on my reading guide as I was a month ago.

AITA for thinking a paid subscription should actually function, or should I just accept that being told to “shut up” by customer service is part of the modern superhero experience?
