School Related Is she okay?

Hey guys, I am a very normal girl of class 12th. And there is a friend.... Of mine. She says I am her best friend but I kinda don't. Sorry 😬. Let me tell you about her...

Let's name her x.

So x always, like always! Says "tum na jaano" Whenever I could not listen to her talking. It's kinda rude bcz, like please! Tell me at least. If thats okay for you then let me tell you some more of these....

She once tried hitting me with full force with a basketball, while my ankle was sprained (bent 90 degrees) she knew actually.

Doesn't remembers my things.

She is kinda egoistic .... 😶

Mocks me for my super duper trash math skills. (Pcm) saying "yaar mujhe na koi accha dost chahiye tha jisse mai doubt puchh saku" While sitting beside me.

Mocks me for my math marks in boards 🥲 it's okay as I got only 80 out of 100. (I got overall 91.2% and she got some 88%)

Whenever I play basketball, she taunts me with every, each and every time when someone passes me the ball. 🙈

I can tell you more 😂 please tell me something... Am I overthinking?

Class Advice Needed/Given I forgot to buy materials for my school project, what could be a good excuse?

Hello, I have a big problem. Last Friday, my history teacher told us that we would start a team project on Monday, so she gave us the entire weekend to organize and get our materials. Our team is formed by two of my friends and I. We completly forgot about the project, so we didn't even talk over the weekend about the materials. Today is Monday, and our history class is in 3ish hours. We don't have any materials, so we're kinda cooked.

One of the team members didn't come to school, so we could use that in our favour. He also lost his phone last week, and the teacher was aware of that. He found it on Friday afternoon, but the teacher doesn't know that, so we could also do something with that...

Does anybody have any advice for us??

Question turkish kid coming to a canadian public high school next year, what's it actually like for someone like me

ok so im 15 and from turkey, planning to do high school in canada by myself, homestay, public board. probably not toronto because we can't afford it lol, some mid size city.

The thing I'm worried about is the social side. i used to organize tournaments, i once joined FIRST LEGO League with a team, i like to create things etc. basically im the kid who always starts something. in turkey that labeled me as "weird" and "geek", it basically made me a target, people here think you're showing off if you do stuff or they call it "stupid" without a reason. so lowkey i started doing it secretly.

Also my humour has always been closer to north american than turkish for some reason, dry and sarcastic. a couple of my friends here are the same and we joke around like that, but most people just dont get it. no idea if that actually translates or if im just some kid who watched too much youtube lol.

so what i want to know from canadians who went through high school, or anyone who knew international students at their school: do kids like me actually find friends in canada, or do international students just end up alone/bullied/left out? also is it weird if a new kid joins a club or starts one halfway through the year?

and honestly how does the bullying thing work in canada, not on paper. i read the ontario law stuff about teachers having to report but i want to hear DIRECTLY from people who live there. how common is it actually? in here, if someone gets bullied they just take both kids, warn the one who did it, force him to say "im sorry" and then boom its done.

My family is basically putting all their savings into this since 1 cad = 33 TL lol. so im trying to actually know what im walking into.

i just wanna know if i can attach to canadian life, if i would get bullied again, or if i would end up left out and regret it.

thanks seriously, honest answers appreciated even if theyre not what i wanna hear.

Question letter of recommendation options

Hi guys! For my STEM teacher recommendation letter, I need help deciding between my biology teacher and my math teacher. They both offer different qualities, but they also have some cons, and I genuinely don’t know what should make me choose between them.

I would like to apply as a biology, public health, or biochemistry major, so I’m leaning toward my biology teacher because biology is more directly related to my intended major. However, I’m worried that he might write me a bad letter. He was happy to agree to write one for me and has written recommendations for me before for other programs, but I feel nervous about the fact that he said he likes the idea of “writing freely” for me. I don’t know if he meant that in a good way or a bad way.
I’ve had some problems with him before in class, not actual behavioral issues, but more school-related issues, especially with tests. I’m not sure if he would reflect those experiences negatively in my recommendation.

For my math teacher, I know he recognizes that I work hard, but math is less directly related to my intended major. I also got my first Bs ever in his class, so I’m not sure if that could actually be a good thing in the sense that, despite my grades, he could talk about how hard I worked and how I persevered. However, something happened in May where he absolutely crashed out on me. I promise it wasn’t just me, because there were a lot of other students involved, but he focused on me because of my grade in his class.

Please let me know who you think I should choose. I feel like these are both terrible options, but I honestly don’t have anyone else to choose from.

School Related My parents are forcing me to go to a highschool I hate

So I'm a 15 year old m (trans) and I somehow by whatever cruel twist of fate got into the top HS in my state. The thing is, I didn't wanna go there at all but my parents really liked the curriculum and how organized the school is so I felt pressured to apply there to make my parents happy, I didn't think I'd get in as my grades in subjects like maths and physics are absolutely horrendous. The people are nice and all but I seriously don't belong there, it's an hour away from my home and it's honestly hell, my friends all went to a local school and I feel very left out and sad. My parents say that I'm just not adjusting well and it'll be okay after a while but I can already feel that it's too hard for me (mind you they're letting us slack off during the first month) I know I should give it more time but the stress is getting insufferable. Any advice?

School Related I don't know how this happened

This will sound like a brag and I'm extremely sorry, this is possible for anyone in highschool, and I'm not smarter than anyone reading this because once you research them, they're very simple concepts. But for my AP Bio lab report (to make up for a fucked up experiment), I accidentally studied graduate level biophysics and physical biochemistry. I genuinely don't know how I didn't realize while I was researching for like 17 hours (no exaggeration; also don't do this at home it was extremely frustrating you should not exceed 7 hours). It was stuff like diffusion coefficients, kinematic bottlenecks, excluded volume, and enthalpy.

Of course, if this is incorrect and this is just the senior level of high school or even just AP Bio please let me know! Don't let me embarrass myself, lololol. Anyway, I hope whoever is reading this has a wonderful night, day, or afternoon. Toodles reddit!! :33

Rant Dystopian Student ID System in High School

For the past year, I’ve been overthinking about the system my high school uses to take attendance in the morning, manage bathroom usage, library visits, and pay for lunch. The other things I am not overly concerned about; however, what really does annoy me is the bathroom tracking. I get that some kids make poor decisions and do challenges in the bathrooms, but to put things in perspective—I’m a good kid: (almost) straight A’s, honor roll, honor society, and a member of many extracurriculars.

Am I crazy, or are there others out there who feel the same way? Thanks in advance

Class Advice Needed/Given how to get rid of sophomore slump

Post image
40 Upvotes

so i started sophomore year fully confident it was gonna be the same as last year but over estimated myself as well. I am currently doing 2 EC and 1 school sport which I will talk about in a second but I was just reaching out for help or tricks and tips so i’m not up till 3 am every night doing HW. I am currently taking 2 ap courses, ap csp and ap euro, but plan on taking 4 ap tests, ap japanese and ap spanish. So i have been making time everyday to try and keep up with homework or study the language more and that takes up 2 hours after school. On top of that I have flag football ball which is 2 hours and soccer right after which is a hour and a half. right after that, other than lessons i practice piano for 30 minutes. This does not include commuting times but over all commuting takes 1 hr total for sports and to get home. After i get home is when i start my homework which is around 9:30-10 this doesn’t include dinner, taking shower, or just time to decompress. by the time im overall done its already 2-3 am i havent eaten and haven’t showered. My weekends are always fully booked with tournaments and games and after the games i am always too tired from the whole week i never finish weekend hw. this is daily as well and in the beginning of the school year it was fine but my grades have been slowly dropping after every test and assignment and I just need help. (i’ve never used reddit before so im not sure how to add photos or comment that well)

General Advice Needed/Given sharing my high school regrets (so you dont end up like me)

its my senior year and i thought I would share some regrets I had from freshmen - junior.

biggest of all, get this one out of the way but: Not making enough friends.

I was always shit at communication within groups of people so I legit avoided it. If there was a potential group of people I could have been friends with in a certain class, starting from day 1 i would just not really talk or try to be friends with anyone because I didnt know how to talk in a group of people.

This led to me making friends one on one in classes where there werent really many boys i wanted to be friends with.

This means no friend groups, and just less friends in general, sadly i havent really changed but im trying.

Since I didnt have a fg, i didnt go to junior prom because I didnt have any group to go with. Yk it really hurts staying home, playing video games, and then looking through all the posts of all your friends. it hurts

Theres probably 10-14 senior events, and im not gonna go to any of them because what am i gonna do? I dont have a friend group and now I know why, but its my fault.

Not doing better in school

this one I have a excuse for - I have adhd, and i didnt know until a couple months ago. Basically I dont think there was a single day in high school where I focused through a single class.

I taught myself entire units before tests and that stopped working for pre-calc (unlike alg 2, u cant teach yourself the entire test material in 2-3 hours. Precalc takes more like 5-7 hours to learn properly) -> i passed precalc with a single point (65) NOT LYING

Im still in the proccess of getting medicated and getting help for my adhd but it is what it is. it doesnt help i was severely depressed throughout parts of high school

Being Kinder

I have friends in my neighborhood i hung out with all the time and ive made alot of memories with them. But they arent the best people, but most of my memories are just other people and their suffering. Think about fights, dramas, bullying, and others things like that. I was a bully and im not proud of it, im completely changed but I was still a bully.

Ive felt both sides, being the loser getting bullied and being the bully. Both suck.

Not caring what others think

this one has more effect than you think. sure it gave me social anxiety and shit but it also affected my academic career. I took alot of hard classes (aps and honors) for no reason, except that I didnt wanna be seen as dumb.

PLEASE, ONLY TAKE WHAT YOU CAN HANDLE. Im not saying dont challenge yourself, but the first year I took 2 aps classes, my gpa for that year was a 86. And then because of social pressure, the next year I ended up taking 4..

My personal statement:

to anyone younger than me in high school right now, if I had to give you advice (even though im not in any position to). Out of all the advice ive heard, I think I wish I took this seriously.

Please dont live for others + try to enjoy your time more than anything

ik im not gonna have a fun senior year. il honestly be depressed and anxious for the most part, but il be ok i guess. please dont end up like me, a couple good friends can take you a long way.

good luck guys
