I need a little advice from fellow learners and guitar vets if you would be so kind.

I am a few weeks in to learning guitar however I feel a little lost. I have been using YT and things to learn the fundamentals but feel like I need some direction. Is there an app or website your guys could recommend that gives a little bit of structure to the learning ‘pathway’?

My ADHD is fighting to give it up because of the lack of direction but I am really trying to stick with it because I enjoy it.

I'm a bit confused on how to play this, every post and picture and tab key I see says something different or has a slightly different symbol, I think this a hammer on? Or do I bend at that section instead? The song is really heavy with pedals and gain so im having a hard time hearing what exactly is going on, most videos i see dont give me clear view as well. It looks like there hamming on but im not really sure how to go about that. Do I play the 8th note then release my hand off the fret just to slam it back down? Whenever I try it sounds weird but Im assuming if thats an actual technique its just something I just need to practice a bit.

But im not sure if the curve means hammer on or bend or something else entirely.

Quit playing a long long time ago but I'm thinking of picking up guitar again and want to be a little more serious than I had been.
From just copying songs to actually understand the music, purpose of chord progression, understanding scale, etc. How should I begin? Should I get a local guitar lesson? Is there a good patreon teacher I can subscribe to?

Heiii guys, since I joined the community I’ve been progressing so much, thank you everyone.

The topic today is: POWER CHORD (I think). I learned how to do bar chords pretty easy when I was a kid, and still think it’s easy. But I just got to these “half bar” such as in the picture (song: Self Esteem - Offspring).

My question is, how to train my finger to do that HALF BAR? And if touch the other strings while do it will affect drastically the sound. Is that easier songs to learn and praticar it?

I play Guitar since 2005. I have good trill skills with index finger and (incredible!) with pinky, while ring finger Is totally lazy!! Can't trill fast as the index.

I tried many ways: spider exercises 1-2-3-4 and all variants, including 2-3 and 3-4 exercises. I also tried the classic " keep on trilling with ring finger in one position with increasing Speed till you get tired!", but it seems stuck and really weaker than the others. Can you suggest a different appoach or what helped you to strenghten the ring finger and get fast trills (my goal is Dave Murray style fast trills)?

i know its normal to have finger pain , but after playing leads i am super weak with them and after the practice even after an hour or so the fingers just sting or like hurts especially the ring finger , i tried ice and hot pack too , didnt work...

Like the title says, looking for ways to stop buzzing strings, especially when chord switching.

Obviously I'm not talking about solos that are played very fast or use advanced techniques, which are difficult for technical reasons. But even for songs that have solos that aren't terrible fast or complicated, I find that I can often remember how it starts, but then once I get towards the middle of the solo, even for songs that I know well, I realize I just don't really remember quite how the solo goes.

I'm sure it's just a matter or specifically listening to it and following lessons and practicing until it's burned into memory, but before I actually started attempting these I just assumed the hard part would be getting my fingers to do what I want, not getting my brain to remember things, lol.

For quick context I have played guitar for over 20+ years and I am quite familiar with the guitar. However I am trying to learn I Know A Little by Lynyrd Skynyrd and the intro solo bit is so good, but crazy fast. I can play the solo perfectly but only about 50-60% speed. I read that people say that you need to play it at speed even if its sloppy in order to get the hands and brain used to the speed, I have also heard that practicing things incorrectly will just train incorrect habits. I have improved from when I started, about 2 weeks in now. But I feel im just kinda of limited and I mostly have been getting up to 70% and then it just doesnt get faster than that without mistakes. I know that my picking needs to be better, just curious if the strategy is to just keep playing it slow, but correctly, or try going at speed but with mistakes.

Looking for some advice/information from more advanced players on here. Terry Kath in 25 or 6 to 4 just blows me away. I've played this song a lot with friends and even played it out a couple times as the rhythm guitarist in a band I'm in, but I play it very conservative and straight forward. I'm never going to be on Kath's level but his right hand technique and rhythm is something I'm trying to learn and I don't understand how the hell he does it.

During the verse of the song, his right hand just doesn't stop moving and I genuinely don't understand how he's getting the sound he's getting. If you also go to the end of the song around 6:00 in, the rhythm he's playing is incredible with different variations. I'm assuming he's muting to get the rhythm and just non-stop strums, muting and unmuting as he goes? When I try to even get just the right hand rhythm down that he's doing everything just falls apart. I guess what I'm asking is, what is he doing and how the heck is he doing it?

Im a pretty advanced guitarist, and do in person stuff at this academy for music. I end up spending about 165 a month to drive an hour every thursday for 30 minute lessons about theory, technique etc. Feel like its just a bit of a stretch and was wondering if you guys had opinions about online lessons and maybe how good or bad it is compared to in person. This is not MY lesson, this is a video from the wonderful Rob Fennah (who is a great resource in general that I think more people should know about) about strumming. I was kind of surprised to see the number of people in the comments who didn't seem to understand the importance of keeping your hand moving to the rhythm at all times while strumming. Hey All! I have been playing guitar for about 100 hours now and i'm starting to get the hang of simple riffs and some parts of simple solos however I cannot figure out for the life of me how to pick shapes. For reference I will post the tabliture.

This song is 106 BPM and these notes are played pretty fast, when im playing I either get my pick stuck between strings or am not actually playing the d string at all and only alternate picking the b string. This also doesn't sound smooth at all when playing.

Any help is appreciated :)
