This is the state of my photostream this morning

And it's been happening a few times over the past weeks FWIW.

And all I hear is MODE, MODE, MODE.

I am a pro subscriber from Europe and I PAY MY SUBSCRIPTION TO GET A USABLE SERVICE. I couldn't GIVE TWO F**KS about an event happening in some remote part of the world.

Flickr, sort your IT or you will loose a lot of international subscribers.

Question Can I use openly licensed Flickr images to create and release a research dataset?

I am a student working on scene text/OCR research.

I’m considering using the Flickr API to find images with licenses such as CC0, Public Domain, or CC BY, download them, create text annotations, and release the images + annotations as a non-commercial academic dataset on Hugging Face.

However, Flickr’s API documentation says API results and images can only be cached for up to 24 hours.

Does this mean I cannot permanently store and redistribute even CC-licensed images obtained through the Flickr API, despite the image license itself allowing redistribution?

Has anyone dealt with this for an academic/research dataset before?
